THE BEST VIDEO. I'VE WATCHED SEVERAL VIDEO HOW TO UPGRADE FIRMWARE, BUT THIS ONE DEFINITELY THE MOST INFORMATIVE VIDEO. COZ NO ONE TOLD ME TO COPY ONLY THE FILE INSIDE THE DOWNLOADED FIRMWARE THAT SHOULD BE REMOVED INTO THE SD CARD. THX ALOT
that is exactly what i made the video! HAHA! I watched a couple and followed their instructions and it didn't work! Glad it worked and was helpful. thanks for letting me know!
you're welcome. hopefully you figured out how to stream to pc. I just use a micro-usb cable. It loses some image quality i believe but works decent. I upgraded to a Canon R which has an HDMI out and use a capture card so I could stream in full 1080 HD
Thanks for the video! Something I found out after not seeing 5th menu...for some firmware versions, you have to be on certain modes. On mine at version 1.0.1, it has to be on film, M, P, Av or Tv...otherwise it won't have the 5th menu to see the current firmware or update to new firmware.
Done it. Thanks. Note that the firmware for the M50 will NOT load into the M50 Mk II. It seizes the camera up and you have to remove the battery to get it going again. In fact I used the Canon desktop utility to do the upgrade over WiFi.
I don't think there's any way to override that. If you research it, there's a weird legal reason why they can't record over 30 minutes. It's not because they can't, they are designed not to. Something about they would have to be classified as a camcorder instead of a camera 🤷
Oh snap! I have no idea. If you are on Facebook there's a canon M50 Facebook group that I'm in that has thousands of members. Someone there might be able to help you
Firmware Version 1.1.0 incorporates the following enhancement and fixes: 1. Enables NFC connection with smartphones running Android 10 operating system. *For Android running v6.0 or later, use Camera Connect v2.7.10 or later. *For Android running v5.0 or older, use a connection method other than NFC. 2. Fixes a phenomenon where, in rare cases, the camera may not autofocus at the edges of the image area. 3. Fixes a phenomenon in which, when using a Web service, if a camera is registered that is the same model as a camera that had already been previously registered, the registration data of the previously registered camera is overwritten. 4. Fixes a phenomenon in which, with [Display settings: Manual/Screen] set, when the camera’s LCD screen is closed, after connecting to EOS Utility, the Remote Live View window is not displayed correctly in some cases. This firmware update is for cameras equipped with firmware up to Version 1.0.3. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.1.0, this update is unnecessary. When updating the firmware of your camera, please first review the instructions thoroughly.
my camera is stuck on 1.0.1. I put the files on the SD but it doesn't recognize it :/ EDIT: Found the problem i think, bc i live in the EU the US files (even tho by file name they were all the same) didn't work when i downloaded it from the swiss website all of a sudden it worked.
Here is my issue. The current Firmware version on the M50 is v1.0.0. The Canon Support website DOES NOT HAVE v1.0.1 firmware. It only shows v1.0.2, v1.0.3, and v1.1.0. So if these updates must be applied consecutively, where do you get v1.0.1 from? Is it possible to go from 1.0.0 to 1.0.3 since the conversation with NeonRyse points out that you must first be on v1.0.3 to go to 1.1.0? Where does v1.0.2 fall in this picture. So far all of the videos that I have watched started out at 1.0.1 (not available) and some only go to v1.0.3. It is not a particularly good practice to put out updates that are dependent upon each other rather than completely replacing the firmware altogether. Canon also does not say anything about dependencies, they only say that it is good for versions below the one you are updating to. Thanks for the help!
Hmmmm beats me! All I know is i watched a video of how to do it and he left out an important step that made it confusing to me so i made a video explaining it better. I would assume though that you can upgrade to the newest firmware without doing the ones in between. I actually would be surprised if you had to do each one.
I have the canon m50mk ii I just updated from 1.0.1 to 1.0.3 and had no problems. It states that if you have 1.0.1 you do not have to update to 1.0.2 So i believe the past updates are tranfered to the newest version.

question: there is no rench no.5 on my setting on no.4
UH OH! I'm not sure what to do! Where could it have gone? Hopefully you figured it out. Sorry in the delay in responding I was away on vacation
I FOUND IT! Put your camera shooting on P (Instead of M or AV Ect...) and it should magically appear, Sooooooo Dumb but it worked on me
This should be pinned! Thank you, @Adventures 2 U This was driving me crazy and there are no answers on web search engines.
@@Adventures2U Thank you was having the same issue!
@@Adventures2U i love you
hey ! when i put the card back in, it says cannot read card, format or change card. Any idea why?
hmmm no idea sorry.
IMPORTANT, You can't update the from version 1.0.1 straight to 1.1.0 you first have to update it to 1.0.3 then 1.1.0
ALSO: Make sure your canon eos m50 is in P shooting mode
Oh snap! Didn't know that. Seems weird
@@NickBorsellino and they recommend that the lens is removed, body only. It doesn't seem to matter though. Just updated my M50m2.
Nope. It is not necessary. I updated from 1.0.0 straight to 1.1.0 without problems. With a lens attached, in Av mode. And everything is fine.
I don't even have a number 5 by the wrench wth 😨
Oh okay it had to be in P shooting mode, saw an earlier reaction hahah
Please if I update the firmware would that stop the 30 minutes limit for recording?
I don't think there's any way to override that. If you research it, there's a weird legal reason why they can't record over 30 minutes. It's not because they can't, they are designed not to. Something about they would have to be classified as a camcorder instead of a camera 🤷

Hi mate… I don’t have a 5 menu under the wrench… any ideas?
Hey sorry just getting to my message a month late! Sorry but I don't know what to say if the menu doesn't look like that I showed 😫
The camera needs to be in M mode to see all menus ;)
I got into the menu and so on, and I don't have the firmware category, only "manual/software ULR" what should i do???
Oh snap! I have no idea. If you are on Facebook there's a canon M50 Facebook group that I'm in that has thousands of members. Someone there might be able to help you
cool cheers
🍻
is there a way to transfer the file from the PC to the card using a USB cable?
i don't think you can transfer data with a cable but I'm not 100% sure about that.
so is there a way? my computer just keep doing the error sound. Also my computer doesnt detect my SD card
What's new you got on this update ?
Please inform...

I updated it , Thanks you're the best👍
@luis mejia Thanks!
how to update fmw for canon lens? is it also possible
I've never done it myself... probably a google search away. I didn't even know the lenses had firmware!
What happens after update like better picture or something?
There's a full list of what the update does in the video description 😊👍
Can you do on ios 11.2.3 !
You should be able to. I'm not sure how ios extracts files but i amazing it's similar
What do i do if it says “memory card containing firmware is required to update”
not sure. did you follow all the instructions in the video? if it didn't work i don't know what the issue could be. When i did it, it worked for me
The filmware option is not showing in my canon EOS m
oh no! not sure what to tell you if it's not there :(
This is the mark 1 right, not the mark 2?
Correct! But they are basically the same camera so I assume the firmware update process is the same
@@NickBorsellino yes nick I think it is although there is no updates for the mark 2 at the moment
@@fractalofgod6324 ahhhhhh that's probably true since it is so new
I don't have an option on my Canon M50 to update my firmware.
oh no! I don't know how to help then! I wonder if there is a way to reset the camera to factory settings and then go from there?
What is the Lens update?
i dunno 🤷
You can update the lenses firmware too if they have updates for them. 😜
It would of been helpful if you had actually shown our names the files that we have to drag onto the SD card.
ah sorry i missed that
@@NickBorsellino I got it done in the end thanks.
i tried transferring the file but it says “disk is write protected.”
Oh interesting... Is the switch on your SD card switched to the locked position? I'm not sure what else would cause that
