His main problem is he has regressed some. But, the league has become much more efficient in the area he used to provide plenty of value. was +4-5 in league relative TS during his prime. Now he's average, at best. DARKO (DPM) had at average/slightly above avg defender during his prime (13-16). He's generally been around -0.5 since. Even his turnover rate is up +1 are up to start the season. Compared to a couple/few seasons. It all just tells me he's likely trying to do too much, relative to what he's capable of these days. I think he can still be a decent/solid #3 guy. But, what is that worth? 15-20 mil a year? Is that enough for him? Unless he can get a bit more efficient. Less shooting of dribble, with an exception perhaps being 3's.Fading when he doesn't need to in the couple games I've seen him play so far. Passing up on some lower quality shots earlier in the possession. Clean up his defense. He has a positive blip in his D-DPM coming back from injury. Was he playing better, or was it circumstantial+luck? This is actually one take I got right a year or two ago.
Agreed. Klay regressing due to age and injuries is completely understandable. He still has value. If he would accept less money for his last contract (especially since the Warriors already paid him previously) and maybe even a lesser role this would still work. That and his shot selection at times is atrocious. Even during their last championship run, he almost single handedly shot them out of games.
I dont think him or the Warriors want to see him leave. If Klay can choose between taking a massive pay cut or leaving I am like 99% sure he will stay. Now is that good for the team? Probably not realistically thinking, but imo Klay is someone worthy of taking that risk on. If they win its awesome, if they don't, who cares? They already have more than enough to cement themselves in NBA history.
Bob Myers definitely got out at the right time, haha. Now he doesn't have to worry about breaking up the Warriors and dealing with the fallout from a messy divorce, i really can't see them ever trading Klay but he's certainly not up for a top max contract anymore
I love all of your takes. You are good! Keep up the good work. Bob Myers knew that Klay should be traded, but in doing that, his heart would be crushed and he would have to move Steve Kerr with Klay.
They will never trade him. He will need to see the writing on the wall though. He should take a vet minimum at best. Then they obviously need to get a starter in place of him. He might be helpful in a 6th man type role. Right now he's simply pushing himself to do too much.
Injuries definitely took a lot out of him. But, money definitely plays a major roll as well. Once a player gets the contract they want, they almost always start slacking, same if they don’t get the contract they want. That’s just how I see it; very unpopular opinion.
Thank God you posted this video because after seeing him play my team twice which is OKC and (OKC is low-key the best team in the league right now. I don’t care what anybody says.) But anytime I see Klay Thompson get the ball. I’m just like oh my God what’s gonna happen now what kind of “missed shot” are we bouta see
I never thought i would see the NBA news media stiring the pot with Klay... you can tell this is having a huge effect on his game and it just feels so wrong... people need to just mind their buisiness because the talks started before Klay was doing bad. Then when the talks simmered he has been having 20+ point outings.... think about that... Lets keep talking about wemby not living up to the hype and see how much worse he gets too while we are at it .....
Klay is a VET. He might need to transition to less minutes, and less money, but never traded. Kuminga is young, healthy, and developing. Definitely can't get rid of the next generation
Honestly the Orlando magic could use a guy like klay Thompson. A great leader, elite defender, and a fantastic playmaker for the young stars in Orlando, Wagner, bancero, and Howard
Draymond and Klay are 33, CP3 is 38. Instead of helping Jordan Poole to develop his game and become a superstar, they decided to keep old legends and give them another bunch of money. I'm ok with that tho, bt it won't get them anywhere.
I agree about GSW not trading klay but Chris Paul has been amazing for the warriors bench there’s no way in hell they are going to trade him for Zach lavine or for anyone with the way he’s playing rn you’re trippen
I don't see it. It's not as if klay has the value to land them some contending pieces anyways. I think they will ride this core for a couple more years, until they decide to blow it all up. They just won a championship recently...so they aren't desperate for immediate success
Man I would hope so but our defense keeps disappointing me honestly. With Wiggins Draymond and GP i dont expect the defense to be middle of the pack which it is.
we don't need derozan or caruso neither would help the team the only problem we have rn is size if wiggs and klay start shooting well again the warriors are good
Stop. He's one of the best shooters mechanically and statistically. He's not going anywhere. The value he has in today's NBA is insane even without his defense.
He's not as good as you think he is. He's regressed some since his prime & the rest of the league has closed the gap with him. Warriors shouldn't pay him more than 25 mil. I'd want to give him 15-20 with him getting older and regressing. That might be too low for him.
@@aaronpeters6209 Stop it, he's just having a slow start to the season. The warriors also primarily used him as a catch-and-shoot guy. Now he's taking the ball off-the-dribble and taking off-balance shots that he "added" to his bag during his injury. You don't simply "regress" in shooting. Quite the opposite.
@@user-us3xi7se5b You can looks at his stats, he regressed some + the league has improved. He used be +4-5 TS above league average. Now, he's average at best past 100 games. 3pt 41-44% in prime. Average past 100 games less than 41% His turnover per 100 are +1 as well. compared to other years. Defense isn't what it was during his prime. Sure, you could argue small sample size. But, he needs to start proving he can play up the level he was before injury. Otherwise, how can you pay him more than 20-22 mil? I don't think he's worth more than Draymond. He may want more than that.
Klay is in a slump because Draymond is missing. Klay will be back with a vengeance. He is super competitive and needs to figure out how role in this new team. Please, no trade!
Pay Klay what he’s worth! It won’t be the max, but the Warriors big three deserve to ride this out together. Their championship window is closed, and there are no trades or free agents that are going to change that. Letting Klay go is a disservice to the fans of this dynasty. The Lakers understood that with Kobe. This is not just sport, but also entertainment.
Before I watch this video, want to share my take. If Klay gets traded. Three team or more deal. I would love to see him go to, for example to the Kings, Heat or Orlando. Veteran presence for Kings or Orlando can take them to the next level. In return for like Suggs to a rebuilding team. And like Demar to Warriors
Klay is a legend and hall of famer. I wish he could've gotten back to the klay we know. We need another scorer behind to make another run anf possibly another ring
Bob is so worried about Klay, he says they are a family. But instead of staying and fighting the good fight, he left. So who is going to fight for Klay and the 4 chips he brought to the Warriors organization? Now you are on television talking about how there is talk about trading Klay. He might feel abandoned and now he is expected to perform on an elite level when daily someone is saying its time to move on from what he has spent his whole career building. Klay has as many rings as LeBron and Steph the man has made several entries in the history books. He is a FHOF! As a true Warriors fan, I hope they figure it out, there are plenty of players on the team not pulling their weight, trade them. Try Klay coming off the bench, he can lead the 2nd unit. Take some of the pressure off. There's a way, Dubs just need to find it. Max contract absolutely not. But you don't abandon family!💯💯
Klay still has a lot of juice left. He just needs to find his groove and different ways to shoot accurately. And one of his practice drills should be shooting from the 3-point line with somebody tall waving arms across his face, another with somebody heavy trying to bully him & a third practice drill with someone goading him with insults.
When you said "......different ways to shoot accurately" about PaperplaneKlay, that's the thinking I had all this season. But then you followed it up with him to continue on his 3-pt shooting only this time with a taller opponent in front, then I totally collapsed. He should lessen his 3-pt shooting NOW and instead do what he's done PRIOR to his two injuries - shoot from the inside. He's seem to be hesitant doing these now maybe because of the injuries, and that's maybe what is called "lost lots of confidence."
Despite all the negative news, I will remain a fan of Klay. Maybe his effectiveness on offense and especially on defense in the court has diminished, but that's okay. He has proven himself, and the evidence of that is their four rings with the Golden State Warriors. Indeed, nothing lasts forever. But what's important is the inspiration he will leave to the next generation of Catch & Shoot / Off Ball Mover players, who want to follow in his footsteps. Thank you Game 6 Klay You are appreciated 🏀👌🌊🔥
They should. Curry is still good enough and they have a number of pieces. They need a younger and more explosive SG to be competitive at the highest level. Klay would benefit from being in a more traditional offense where he gets good looks out of traditional sets. He's still a great shooter (had a better 3pt% in the playoffs than Steph last year) and not a bad slasher. But with all the injuries and the age, I think he needs to be more of the guy the team sets screens to get GOOD looks instead of the old Klay who did Curry shots. If they could find the right deal, it would be beneficial for both teams and help GS get younger and healthier since Steph is still at such a high level (when he's healthy).
Opinion. Warriors should trade Klay Thompson. Likelihood. Warriors would rather trade Andrew Wiggins. In either case. Trade 1 of them for a 6 feet and 10 or taller 🦒 center.

Klay is in his own head. He's been through hell. But thats not Dub nations problem. Klay needs to step up and take a cut. If he's such a company man he will do it
Klay Thompson is a fourth time NBA champion. Some people don't even get the chance to win once so stop bashing him and say oh he's off his game. He's one of the best shooters that ever played basketball and he'll be a Hall of Famer.
Ive been watching NBA during MJ times , but when he left I stopped watching NBA. I just went back to watching NBA again because of KLAY THOMPSON ONLY! and it just happened that he is in gsw thats why its now my favorite team !!!
Klay needs to work on his post game and dribble and diversify his offensive game. Add some baby hooks, floaters, fade aways, and MJ/Kobe one dribble pull up and when his 3s aren't falling he can get some easier buckets. He needs to add to his game so he can get 20 points without hitting 5-6 threes. Go talk to Duncan Robinson.
NBA history has always shown us that MANY great players have an asking price. E.g., Ewing leaving the Knicks; Olajuwon leaving the Rockets; Parker leaving the Spurs; Wade leaving the Heat. Thompson may be next...
Depends what the nba wants. I find it hard to believe anyone wanted James harden. Yet he gets traded to the medias top 3 favorite teams. My guess they either tell them to keep klay because they love the warriors. Or they’ll get him to lebron or one of there other golden gooses
Anybody 2 years ago BEFORE the punch could have saw the writing clearly on the wall that Poole was next in line…Klay should have been coming off the bench but Kerr would never make that move They also passed up on drafting Melo hours after Klay got injured …they are stuck with Klay they owe him eternally for game 6 in okc
Tired of all these fake fans talking crazy. How quickly they forget who this man is. He has more heart than 95% of the players that are shooting and playing better than him. He will be back, and he will show y'all what he is capable of. Any real Warriors fan would never ask to trade Klay Thompson no matter how he plays. That man has done so much for the franchise and has been through so much, how can y'all hate on that? Watching him go through what he had to go through, injuring his ACL then shooting free throws, then another achilles injury... I feel for him. He gets more hate than people like Harden and Jalen Green does, it's insane.
@amhoops they are not gonna trade klay. if anyone is traded its Chris Paul because they gonna lose him in off season for nothing unless he willing to take less money which is unlikely.
If Steve Kerr is openly talking about Klay's low IQ decision making in the media, and the two pgs are force feeding Klay and its turning into decent Klay games and wins, There is no way. I think Klay is capable of being a good offensive role player for this team and I see Kerr being willing to play younger guys more minutes sometimes taking minutes from Klay. been around -0.5 since.
The Warriors should offer him the most that they can considering other players they need to pay rather than measuring how much he's worth.
Bob Myers definitely got out at the right time, haha. Now he doesn't have to worry about breaking up the Warriors and dealing with the fallout from a messy divorce, i really can't see them ever trading Klay but he's certainly not up for a top max contract anymore
I dont think Steph will agree to this and that will ultimately keep Klay in the team.
They ride together they die together splash bros for life.
4:53 ha you got me there. I was thinking it’s not going to happen also.
I don’t care what anybody says.)
But anytime I see Klay Thompson get the ball.
Elite defender?
We're in 2023, not 2016
"fantastic playmaker"
career 2.3apg💀💀
Cp3 been good for them especially their second unit I don’t Think they want to loose that. It probably be other two wiggs or klay
Draymond and Klay are 33, CP3 is 38. Instead of helping Jordan Poole to develop his game and become a superstar, they decided to keep old legends and give them another bunch of money. I'm ok with that tho, bt it won't get them anywhere.
The chemistry was ruined by then so they had to change
Klay is forever a warrior!
People just want intrigue
Klay has the most beautiful shooting form I’ve ever seen
Liked your vid, good work on your videos
I agree about GSW not trading klay but Chris Paul has been amazing for the warriors bench there’s no way in hell they are going to trade him for Zach lavine or for anyone with the way he’s playing rn you’re trippen
I don't see it. It's not as if klay has the value to land them some contending pieces anyways. I think they will ride this core for a couple more years, until they decide to blow it all up. They just won a championship recently...so they aren't desperate for immediate success
He'd be perfect on the Lakers
We’re not even 20% into the season so idk why we would trade him over some bad games.
some bad games??? Last year??? lol
ppl still defending a washed player is mind boggling lmfao
@@brianherrera1390didn't he make the most 3s on good efficiency?
@@Achps1589In the playoffs?
@kennn30 playoffs don't count, nobody cares about the stupid playoffs. It's all about the in season tournament babyyyyy
Klay will be fine. That being said, derozan and caruso would be more reliable and make the dubs d top flight adding caruso to dray, gp3, wigs.
Man I would hope so but our defense keeps disappointing me honestly. With Wiggins Draymond and GP i dont expect the defense to be middle of the pack which it is.
They don't need more wing defense, they need size
we don't need derozan or caruso neither would help the team the only problem we have rn is size if wiggs and klay start shooting well again the warriors are good
@@Yeshuaspupil Draymond has been out more than not so I think it'll be better when him and GP come back
Average past 100 games less than 41%
His turnover per 100 are +1 as well. compared to other years. Defense isn't what it was during his prime.
Sure, you could argue small sample size. But, he needs to start proving he can play up the level he was before injury.
Otherwise, how can you pay him more than 20-22 mil? I don't think he's worth more than Draymond. He may want more than that.
These comments aged like fine wine
Klay is in a slump because Draymond is missing. Klay will be back with a vengeance. He is super competitive and needs to figure out how role in this new team. Please, no trade!
That 60 pts with 11 dribbles was hilarious and very impressive! I cant believe Klay was so in the zone that moment.
this highlights his limitations as a player more than it's impressive. he was catch and shooting open threes his entire career.
@@kevingriffith677 stop talking
@@chadwellington2524he’s right tho . Klay had the perfect system & cast that game. KD & curry & he ate off their attention
What sucks is hes probably gonna say everything you just did problem is hes not the same guy . Especially on defense
Idk why they don't just play Moody at starting SG. Or trade for Huerter, or Bogdan Bogdonovic. Someone like that to help take off some of the load.
Mum asked me, “son have you done the dishes, I yelled Klay Thompson, she knew they were washed
They should doesn’t mean they would
I doubt anything happens, neither CP3 getting trade for lavine or Klay Thompson getting trade..
On the brighter side, Klay just bagged his 1st 20-pt. game for the season. It just may be the return of the comeback.
Nah 😂😂. It's OK though we all fall off at some point. His injuries and its not his fault. I think he can help this team by coming off the bench.
Klay is a legend and hall of famer. I wish he could've gotten back to the klay we know. We need another scorer behind to make another run anf possibly another ring
Who would even want him? Big contract for a guy not playing well. Warriors would need to throw in 1st rounders and maybe Moody.
He left because he knew he would have to trade Draymond, Klay and picks or young guys to make the team better.
Thank you Game 6 Klay
You are appreciated 🏀👌🌊🔥
Not feeling basketball this year AM. I’ll get back with ya when something more juicy is brewing. Ttyl
Opinion. Warriors should trade Klay Thompson.
Likelihood. Warriors would rather trade Andrew Wiggins.
In either case. Trade 1 of them for a 6 feet and 10 or taller 🦒 center.
I think he will bounce back!
dude for parker it was question of 3rd PG ... before saying fullish things check your info. He signed with the hornets and come out of bench behing kemba walker. He would have prefered to stay in San Antonio and come out of bench but Pop was asking him to be the 3rd PG ie playing only garbage time. Dude check your info it's a pitty
Where the music at?
Thanks for the memories Klay! It’s time to move on.

I though he will connect the Dejounte Murray video with his outro when he mentioned Tony Parker 😂😂
Klay is in his own head. He's been through hell. But thats not Dub nations problem. Klay needs to step up and take a cut. If he's such a company man he will do it
Will they: NO
Should they: YESSSSSSS
Klay Thompson is a fourth time NBA champion. Some people don't even get the chance to win once so stop bashing him and say oh he's off his game. He's one of the best shooters that ever played basketball and he'll be a Hall of Famer.
So you still believe he can get back to being the player he was before the 2019 injury?
You seem to be one of those delusional individuals
Ive been watching NBA during MJ times , but when he left I stopped watching NBA. I just went back to watching NBA again because of
KLAY THOMPSON ONLY!
and it just happened that he is in gsw thats why its now my favorite team !!!
He needs to take a big pay cut because he was out two years and they still gave him a max extension
I've been saying exactly what you're saying if Drue holiday was worth what they got for him. CP3 has to be worth more
They need to pull that trade off asap if they are.
If they keep playing him till the trade deadline they risk his trade value dropping.
Klay and AD who worse?😢
NBA history has always shown us that MANY great players have an asking price. E.g., Ewing leaving the Knicks; Olajuwon leaving the Rockets; Parker leaving the Spurs; Wade leaving the Heat. Thompson may be next...
the josh giddey vid gunna go crazy
Depends what the nba wants. I find it hard to believe anyone wanted James harden. Yet he gets traded to the medias top 3 favorite teams. My guess they either tell them to keep klay because they love the warriors. Or they’ll get him to lebron or one of there other golden gooses
Warriors fan better thankful as hell that Jerry west said that
I would be foolish to do so! To say he's a SHELL OF HIMSELF is tuff to take. He'll be fine. Mr. Hop..
Every time Perkins talks its unthinkable
Klay’s story is Derrick Rose’s all over again
Anybody 2 years ago BEFORE the punch could have saw the writing clearly on the wall that Poole was next in line…Klay should have been coming off the bench but Kerr would never make that move
They also passed up on drafting Melo hours after Klay got injured …they are stuck with Klay they owe him eternally for game 6 in okc
Sucks for Klay. Makes you appreciate the greatness of Tim & Manu - they always took the pay cuts and competed gracefully until the end
If CP 3, Wiggs and Klay's shooting becomes consistent, it's OVER for the league! 😜😄🤩🤩
I only see the Bucks trading for Klay
It must include Brook Lopez, MarJon Beauchamp, Andre Jackson Jr, Malik Beasley and like 2 firsts at least
3 scenarios......pay him max, he takes a pay cut, or trade him while you can or lose him for nothing
Harden doesn't get any hate.
Everyone's just annoyed he never won a championship. That's all
@amhoops they are not gonna trade klay. if anyone is traded its Chris Paul because they gonna lose him in off season for nothing unless he willing to take less money which is unlikely.
When you get injured , everything will never be the same.
First time that Perk talks with little emotion and facts at the same time - I'm genuinely impressed 😂😂😂
It all depends on if they are able to win games with him or not moving forward
Tough to win games if you pay someone more than they are worth. 15-20 mil is right. He can be a good #3. But, he's just not #2 guy material anymore.
