I've been thinking how weird all this transphobia is. Twenty years ago no one was even talking about trans people other than to sometimes remember that they exist and are normal people. Now, suddenly the very idea that an adolescent might delay puberty is called child abuse and people are thinking that just talking about trans and other LGBTQ people will somehow harm children. It's scary how fast the scapegoating has ramped up. It's a lesson that scapegoating can be quickly directed at any small group.

But as someone who isn't trans, I never heard anyone say the kind of messed up, hateful things I hear now. People didn't passionately insist on deadnaming and misgendering trans people. LGBTQ+ yt channels like this have helped, and I have a few online friends I'm able to hang out with and vent to when things get too overwhelming and anxiety hits (which happens more than I would like sadly). One day I hope to be able to be open about what I support and who I am to the people I'm close with. Since I also do online school, I'm at home 99% of the time. So all my close friends are online.

I'm sure every corporation has its dark side, it's just choosing what you can and can't accept. While Hershey's isn't perfect I prefer them to Nestle because Nestle's CEO is pure slime in my book. So I try my best (which isn't always easy) not to buy anything with Nestle's on the wrapper. Luckily I don't eat a lot of chocolate so I doubt they'll get rich on the small amount I get.

I got an ad for a chocolate company taking a jab at hersheys by saying they didn't use a "real woman" in their marketing Safe to say I'm not buying from that random chocolate company ever.
It's also funny because most of the people that are actually mad about this aren't even in Canada, so their "boycott" isn't really going to affect Hershey's Canada anyway.

So I am from Hershey, Pennsylvania and I’ve had family members work for the company since the building of the original factory. I have since moved to Sydney, Australia, who literally just finished hosting World Pride over the weekend. I never thought my two world's would collide in such a way, but I have never been more proud to be from Hershey and the child of two Hershey factory workers. I only wish Hershey would go global with such a campaign.

Fun fact: many indigenous communities in Canada still don't have reliable access to safe fresh water. In Alberta (where i used to live) Enoch Cree Nation finally got clean drinking water in 2019 after 24 YEARS on a boil water advisory. They are literally minutes away from Alberta's capital city. It took them 24 fucking years to get safe water, and all that was needed was $13 million (chump change to our governments) to connect them to the Edmonton water supply. Now imagine trying to do it when your community is in the middle of nowhere. All I can say is, hell yeah Autumn Peltier. She deserves mad recognition, as do all North America's water protectors. Just being transphobic is bad enough on its own, but on top of it, literally everything those people go near gets ruined.

Cis woman here. I feel very represented for women's day if a trans woman is featured. Because misogyny affects all women AND all qualities AND all areas of life that are associated with the archaic feminine. So let's talk about the whole part of transphobes being a lot of very hurt insecure boys, girls and eventually even non-binary people, who struggle incredibly hard with their lack of emotional regulation (which is typically better trained in women, societally). They are very poor children who wreck havoc as they thrash about and scream for everyone to hear, how very confused, lost and insecure they are. Now, how are we going to keep them safe, till they're through their emotional fit and maybe open to receiving help, I don't know. But it is sure, that as society, it'd be a minimum to secure them against damaging themselves and others, while they still fail at their basic self-regulation. Who raised them so poorly and left them to figure stuff out by themselves, expecting that anything good would come out of this? The poor lots are constantly contradicting themselves and their own values and make fools out of themselves before the whole world. It goes so far, that they confuse "abuse" with "care". It's hard to watch! Dear trans women, happy international women's day and I'm terribly sorry for the inconveniences that are thrown at you. Before anyone bring up a trans woman in sports, you mostly hear things like "women sports don't matter, no one watches that stuff, it's only fun if they wear shorts/skirts/any other revealing or tight fit clothing, they won't win anything anyway, men sports is actually exciting and has higher stakes" and then suddenly women are so important, must be protected, their sport integrity is at stake etc.

As a cis woman, I couldn’t care less about people using trans women in commercials about women. They are still women to me whether they were born one or not 🤷🏻♀️ If you feel like a woman, you are a woman, and nothing, not even terfs, will change that. Thing is, they were born women. Just in the brain, not in the body. Trans women have literally been women since they were born, just like us cis women. They just didn't know it until they were older, whereas we did know because we've never really had to think about it. The only "men pretending to be women" are closeted trans men. The way I don't even like Hershey's chocolate but I will literally buy Hershey's chocolate and give it to like some donation center just to support them right now cuz that was kind of cool
a little group in my school today (march 8th) put up a table and were giving out suckers for international womens day, they also had a little jar for donations to a transition housing thing, they got $20 from a student... i of course tipped everything i could also
I really hope that the thing they were taking donations for is what you may be thinking it is, but if it was "Transitional Housing", probably not. "Transitional Housing" is a facility similar to a group home, but usually only available to people for a limited time (30 days/3 months/1 year/etc.) and typically used for those who need a bit more supervision for a while after hospitalization (mental or physical related), or for those who have no current home - to give them some time to seek more permanent housing. That said, whether it was transgender-related or "transitional housing", as I described, it was a great cause to donate to. (I had to rely on transitional housing, myself, not long ago, and it helped me find an apartment. I'm also a transman, and my identity was respected and accepted in that TH facility
While the transphobes are vocal, I want to belive they are just a very loud minority. A baby crying because someone took their lolly. It sucks that people have to deal with this everday. I hope the other 4 women who are part of the campaign do also get some public recognition once that storm dies down. The PR that campaign gives them can really help their various projects, methinks. Personally, I don't like Hershey's and we don't have the brand here, but if we did, just for that campaign, I'd buy a lot. I always try to put my money where my mouth is.

I've been thinking how weird all this transphobia is. Twenty years ago no one was even talking about trans people other than to sometimes remember that they exist and are normal people. Now, suddenly the very idea that an adolescent might delay puberty is called child abuse and people are thinking that just talking about trans and other LGBTQ people will somehow harm children. It's scary how fast the scapegoating has ramped up. It's a lesson that scapegoating can be quickly directed at any small group.

I'm sure every corporation has its dark side, it's just choosing what you can and can't accept. While Hershey's isn't perfect I prefer them to Nestle because Nestle's CEO is pure slime in my book. So I try my best (which isn't always easy) not to buy anything with Nestle's on the wrapper. Luckily I don't eat a lot of chocolate so I doubt they'll get rich on the small amount I get.

So I am from Hershey, Pennsylvania and I’ve had family members work for the company since the building of the original factory. I have since moved to Sydney, Australia, who literally just finished hosting World Pride over the weekend.
I never thought my two world's would collide in such a way, but I have never been more proud to be from Hershey and the child of two Hershey factory workers. I only wish Hershey would go global with such a campaign.

Fun fact: many indigenous communities in Canada still don't have reliable access to safe fresh water. It's impossible to tell exactly how many because the "unsafe" advisories are frequently removed and reinstated, which muddles the numbers. Oh, oops, that fact wasnt fun at all. Sorry.
In Alberta (where i used to live) Enoch Cree Nation finally got clean drinking water in 2019 after 24 YEARS on a boil water advisory. They are literally minutes away from Alberta's capital city. It took them 24 fucking years to get safe water, and all that was needed was $13 million (chump change to our governments) to connect them to the Edmonton water supply. Now imagine trying to do it when your community is in the middle of nowhere.
All I can say is, hell yeah Autumn Peltier. She deserves mad recognition, as do all North America's water protectors. Just being transphobic is bad enough on its own, but on top of it, literally everything those people go near gets ruined.

Claiming Hershy is "erasing women" while simultaneously ignoring 80% of the women in the campaign sure is an interesting move.
Cis woman here. I feel very represented for women's day if a trans woman is featured. Because misogyny affects all women AND all qualities AND all areas of life that are associated with the archaic feminine.
So let's talk about the whole part of transphobes being a lot of very hurt insecure boys, girls and eventually even non-binary people, who struggle incredibly hard with their lack of emotional regulation (which is typically better trained in women, societally). They are very poor children who wreck havoc as they thrash about and scream for everyone to hear, how very confused, lost and insecure they are.
Now, how are we going to keep them safe, till they're through their emotional fit and maybe open to receiving help, I don't know. But it is sure, that as society, it'd be a minimum to secure them against damaging themselves and others, while they still fail at their basic self-regulation.
Who raised them so poorly and left them to figure stuff out by themselves, expecting that anything good would come out of this? The poor lots are constantly contradicting themselves and their own values and make fools out of themselves before the whole world. It goes so far, that they confuse "abuse" with "care". It's hard to watch!

Before anyone bring up a trans woman in sports, you mostly hear things like "women sports don't matter, no one watches that stuff, it's only fun if they wear shorts/skirts/any other revealing or tight fit clothing, they won't win anything anyway, men sports is actually exciting and has higher stakes" and then suddenly women are so important, must be protected, their sport integrity is at stake etc.
@@nutella7162 i personally think it's a bit silly to divide sports by gender in the first place. sure, the average man could beat the average woman in most sports, but there are so many other traits with that exact quality, or even the quality that *any* person of trait "A" could beat *any* person of trait "B", but sports are divided by hardly any of them. in this particular case, i'm okay saying it should be all-or-nothing: make all of these divisions (i'm being a bit sarcastic here, the amount would be ludicrous), or just make everything open.

As a cis woman, I couldn’t care less about people using trans women in commercials about women. They are still women to me whether they were born one or not 🤷🏻♀️ If you feel like a woman, you are a woman, and nothing, not even terfs, will change that. There are cis women out there who will love and support your journey to be your authentic self, so listen to us, not those other hateful women who can’t pull their heads out of their 🍑!! You are valid, and you deserve to be accepted and loved for who you are ❤️
Thing is, they were born women. Just in the brain, not in the body. Trans women have literally been women since they were born, just like us cis women. They just didn't know it until they were older, whereas we did know because we've never really had to think about it. The only "men pretending to be women" are closeted trans men. Other than that though, hell yes, I corroborate everything else you've said.

I keep getting ads from a chocolate company (will not put the name cuz they don't need attention) that keeps talking about hersheys having a "biological man" in their ad campaign and promoting their own chocolate where they have 2 kinds of chocolate, she/her and he/him, and proceeding to say "One of them has nuts. If you can't tell which one, then go throw your money at hersheys" and it pisses me off every time. At least they're wasting their money by advertising to the wrong audience

More power to Hershey's for being a decent company and showing that they support all people! a little group in my school today (march 8th) put up a table and were giving out suckers for international womens day, they also had a little jar for donations to a transition housing thing, they got $20 from a student... i of course tipped everything i could also
I really hope that the thing they were taking donations for is what you may be thinking it is, but if it was "Transitional Housing", probably not. "Transitional Housing" is a facility similar to a group home, but usually only available to people for a limited time (30 days/3 months/1 year/etc.) and typically used for those who need a bit more supervision for a while after hospitalization (mental or physical related), or for those who have no current home - to give them some time to seek more permanent housing.
That said, whether it was transgender-related or "transitional housing", as I described, it was a great cause to donate to. (I had to rely on transitional housing, myself, not long ago, and it helped me find an apartment. I'm also a transman, and my identity was respected and accepted in that TH facility

I hope the other 4 women who are part of the campaign do also get some public recognition once that storm dies down. The PR that campaign gives them can really help their various projects, methinks.
Personally, I don't like Hershey's and we don't have the brand here, but if we did, just for that campaign, I'd buy a lot. I always try to put my money where my mouth is.
