Amazing video in all respects. You took us right into the process and gave meaning to the idea of working with the weather and not against it. Amazing landing on a very short field. The photography was beautiful and very impressive from an editing point of view. We were right there with you on the take off. Bravo! The way you handled this video was really accomplished and satisfying to watch.
Keep up the great work. I've been watching both your channel and Missionary Bush Pilot. Is there much difference in performance and capability between the Pilatus Porter and the Kodiak 900? The stats I've seen look pretty similar. Also when you guys talk about being committed it seems there is still an option to apply power and do another go around. Could you explain this a bit more? Thanks. @@APilotsHome
That's like shooting the approach through a tunnel, no second chances. All you guys who fly in that part of the world absolutely amaze me. I flew helicopters there a long time ago, but in that terrain helicopters are so much easier than what you do. Very impressive.
It was a very nice insight to see your different phases and decision making. I must say, your flows are in every sense of the word flowing. It is beautiful to see you working as one with the aircraft. It is inspiring to see how flowing it is. I'm always taken aback by how stunning your footage is. It feels like watching an alternative world of the fjords up here but in evergreen summer. That first footage flying by the rocky mountain - and that leap into the towering clouds, that magnificent ski jump. To then see the bright blue skies at the other end. I don't think I've ever seen more stunning flying.
The absolute best videos on ooh tube. I’m on the edge of my seat for every one. And I’m fascinated that there are humans who survive, have homes in as remote a place you could possibly imagine.
I don't have the superlatives to match the skill you demonstrate here (and in every video)! I love the real-time view that you've given us here. It allows us to see the "no, not yet, patience, maybe soon, ok, now" nature of your decision making. I know this must be a lot of work and possible expense for you making these videos. But please, please, please keep these pure videos coming. Greetings from Ecuador.
Hey Michael. Thank you so much for your message. So happy to read your feedback. Indeed I put a lot of work in making these videos and sometimes it takes months so reading comments like yours makes it all worthwhile. More will come. Cheers from Papua!
Eu e todos os Viralatas partilhamos o orgulho do teu pai pela tua dedicação à missão e pelo alto nível de profissionalismo da tua operação num terreno e clima exigentes em apoio a comunidades que doutro modo estariam isoladas. Keep up the good work.
Just found your channel, glad I did. Thanks for taking me along to Yeretma. Great display of skills, patience and knowledge. Definitely a sub from me. Greetings from Wyoming, USA
Another great video! The Pilatus Porter is a bad ass aircraft. Love the propeller vortices on takeoff!!!! Feel lucky you have a fun job and one that you love.
Love the video great editing music camera angles! Fantastic scenery and appreciate the instructional flying basics. The porter seems to be such an awesome aircraft! Of course it’s all about the pilot 😊
Thank you! Good question. Ignition ON for TO and LD as precaution for any engine flameout. If alternate fuel is required at least I don't have to think about ignition since it's already ON.
As private pilot since more then 30 years, I'm interested in different aspects of aviation (commercial procedures, accident case study, etc.) But since I fly (private), this kind of bush flying is the only professional job i would wish to do. 💗. While watching your videos, it feels like I'm with my hand on the stick. Whish you many more happy landings and take care. Greez from Switzerland.
My dude, I certainly hope that you have a BRS in your bird. In your videos I see no emergency landing areas in the event of engine trouble. Love the videos!
Cool vid mate, awsome country,👍👍love watching your vids, they are well put together. do those rock tops at the start get snow at all? or just too warm for that?
Hey mate! Thanks so much for your kind message! The rocks do get snow from time to time. I believe they used to be covered with snow more often. Cheers and keep well!
Yup go arounds in that location, is about all you can do. A kiwi pilot I'm subscribed to, has some footage of Lukla approach in the Himalayas, (freight) and because of the location, there's not enough room really to go around. Apparently you have to commit yourself. As a non pilot, your situation looks pretty gnarly. Thanks for sharing mate. Take care and atb from down here in Nz.
Thank you for watching! Indeed, most of the strips out here in Papua you have to create a point in space where you consider yourself Committed for landing. I love your country btw! Cheers mate!
@@APilotsHome I love my country too mate. Apparently the NZ pilot flying into Lukla, was one of the very few, non Nepali pilots trained for Lukla. He's an Ag pilot now down here. Thanks again for the upload.
How cut off from the rest of the country are these villages you fly into? Do they have electricity and how do they communicate with the rest of the world?

Dangerous but magnificent country - so suited to the Porter.
I couldn't agree more Michael!

Love all the caption of switches operation. Also that propeller twirl through the fog during TO
Glad to hear! Thank you!

@@APilotsHome Where did your dad fly the 500?
In Europe in firefighting some 25years ago. Mainly Portugal. Long time

Love your "home".....😊
It seems to me like the rear passanger doors weren't closed properly on your way back. :)

Thank you! I don’t remember them not being closed properly 😅 but it happens!
Great editing, as all others have commented you feel in the flight, and the control text cues are great help for us non pilots.
Lefties rule!
Such a beautiful country. Do you fly into Wamena Airport as your home base? Or some smaller strip? Love your videos
This was epic!
Glad you liked it!
I like your style -
I used to operate piston-engine crafts... What is "ignition" if the turbine is runnig? Landing lights?
Maravilhoso.
A mixture off fun and terror ...

That end of the RW looking more dangerous then approach 😮... In overshooting case especially... The reliablest RW: rolling out of it is impossible😊
