Another amazing series. At 61, with a disabled husband and a demanding job, my adventuring days are pretty much over. How wonderful to extend the feeling by watching you guys!
It was just episode 3 that I commented how truly blessed you guys are to have such a great relationship. This episode I hear you saying you want to punch Ted in the face😂, talking about Ted's constant bungaling😂, and Ted laughing loudly when the fish slipped out of your hands😂...too funny. That moose! How awesome. I can't get over how clear the water is. Getting ready to watch the next episode. I watch Lost Lakes & Xander, so I'm happy to have found your channel as well. You have a new subscriber 😉
Well it ain’t all sunshine and rainbows o guess haha. I’m glad you’re liking it and it’s great to have you here. Ep 7 will be out nuts and it’s the best one yet for sure in my opinion.
Not many things brighten my evening more than when I'm relaxing on the couch after dinner, trying to figure out to watch and give up on any movies or shows. "Oh, let's see what's on TH-cam." And old Jimbo has another video out, just brightens up my evenning, I tell ya.
My favorite part of your video is seeing & hearing about the history of the people who came before us. So cool. Thanks for taking the time to hike up there to show us!
Big Jim the rock at the Inuit site was the reel you needed for your ugly stick rod you made on Alone! “You might see me punch Ted”…oh the brotherly love! Ha ha ha! Great stuff.
The bugs, the bugs. You guys are troopers dealing with the different problems with this trip. I’m always glad you take us along….its the only way we will see the area and learn a bit about the history surrounding it. Thanks a bunch!
This is an outstanding series. Oh - and I am the youngest of 9 kids and I can’t believe not one of my siblings has punched me in the face because I can be a know it all. Lol.
The FISH!!!! What epic fishing this trip has been. Unreal that in order to make any time, you have to take your lures out of the water. hahaha Listening to those black flies buzzing the camera at near the end was driving me nuts sitting at my desk. Those little buggers are the worst. That takes some serious mental toughness to deal with swarms of those.
I've watched all your vids Jim, love, love your content and i am totally bewildered at why you don't have more subscribers, I am going to share your vids on FB and TT. Ty for the adventures, you and Ted rock.
How crazy cool is it seeing them old places like that cave and cash every time I find things like that here in Alaska it gives me chills and I have to sit and think of all what they might have done there and have found a lot of the old timers gold cabins here in Alaska and they are like they just suddenly left and left everything behind so I take pictures and leave everything be in its place but what an experience it is every time
Awesome trip. How you guys manage with those black flies all over is amazing. I'm afraid they''d drive me insane. More downstream facing video's in the rapids, please. I feel like I'm sitting backwards in the bow of your canoe.

Finally! Jim threatening to punch Ted in the face! I’ve been waiting for this!! Then Ted laughed when Jim lost a fish….freaking love it!! Another banger, thanks for sharing!
Jim, as a regular in the great outdoors when of course I have the time, your videos help tremendously to keep life in check and perspective, in a crazy world in which we live today, what an incredible place to explore, when you both were at the old Inuit camp, your mine like mine could wonder in so many directions about these people and knowing these people were there, just knowing they were there for one thing and one thing only, survival, wow, can’t thank you enough for sharing with us all. Rob down in Ala.
Yes, there is evidence of a massive past caribou migration through this area. The caribou crossed the river somewhere around here and Inuit would travel inland (likely by kayak) and intersect them, originally spearing them as they crossed the river. They would sun dry all the meat in massive quantities, pack what they could back to the coast and cache the rest, coming back to get it when they traveled that way again or by dog team in winter. They did not sleep in the cave as Ted might have thigh though it would provide a naturally decent shelter.
Lucky devils you two, good fish and the moose didn’t like the smell maybe! You guys are blessed! Enjoyed the show here. I get in awe of the north country…and it’s majesty!
Planning on making a drinking game out of your next vid for every time you say/talk about the “low water” 😂 I can only imagine the frustration when you were out there! Thanks for another great video Jim 😁
Muskol is the best repellent made! If that doesn't work... then your hooped right? 😅 Do you like those lightweight hooded/masked bug hoodies? Seem pretty effective as well. The epic trip continues! Thanks for sharing.
Snout deep into five episodes and I get more and more thirsty with water, water everywhere, worse than wanting a drink coming out alive of an intensive care unit. I've dipped my cup into a few arctic watersheds and not that I worry so much but those rivers flow north and will one day dry completely up to add to that desolate, barron place.
The classic braid brother fighting it just wouldn’t be a braid adventure without a good fight I remember on alone u guys were almost gonna kill each other me I think it was all those thousands of Limpets but the most epic moment was when u guys were eating around that campfire 🔥 and that bird 🦆 ran through and Jim u snagged that hey man that was a gift from God best snatch I’ve ever seen Gotta Love it
Love these videos Jim, some of the places you get to see I can only dream about and those flies look pretty awful, I’ve seen them bad in Finnish Lapland but nothing like the brutes you put up with here. Glad to see you drinking Islay scotch, there’s none finer, I know the Hebridean island Islay very well and hope you don’t mind me pointing out but Islay is pronounced, Eye Ler (not Is Lay)!
Nice, I had no idea. I don’t really know much about scotch but I’d read that word Islay meant island in an old Norse language. Admittedly thought, I thought the word could be applied to all the Hebrides and didn’t know it was a specific island. Love it and love the peaty flavour. So much cool stuff to learn in this world.
Damn, what a place Hinospito, just rocks and sea? Isn't it a lake? Anyway, it's good for rowing except when you have to walk next to the canoe. Well, thanks, greetings and return home soon. 🙋🛶🛩️🥃
I am curious if you have a packing list you could share. I am a beginner in the canoeing world and couple friends and I are about to go on a 4 day trip. Btw enjoying the videos keep it up!
Great to see you fishing along the way even if you dont need them to eat. Is that Nova Craft made of tuffstuff expediton? Wonder how it holds up to the rocks vs Royalex?
Thanks for resisting the lure of double-bladed paddle! I know it has its uses, but I'm also struck by what seems like a high correlation between double-bladed paddles and youtube. When I'm out on a trip, I hardly ever see one in the broader cohort of canoe paddlers. So what is it about you'tubers and double-bladed paddles?? If I was asked to make a guess I'd be willing to do so, but no one's asking.
Remember , Ted's strength is thinking out of the box when he is brainstorming. Your credibility depends on not thinking outside of the box. Consider combining both of these strengths in the future. His double paddle idea probably merits testing even though its a stretch. You confirming if its successful gives it the credibility that Ted lacks. Just a thought .
What do you mean that my credibility depends on not thinking out of the box? When it comes to double blading vs single blading, double blading is more efficient, just like the game of m ringette is a more efficient way keep the puck (or, err, ring) on your stick than if playing ice hockey. Should we try to convince NHL players to play ringette? I’m out there participating in the sport of canoeing because that’s what I like to do. I want to get better and canoeing as opposed to kayaking.
Ha! Brothers. A love not even face punches can diminish 😂. If you do ever start integrating double paddle for crossing and dead water , I highly recommend parallel blades. The offset angle, now that’s an ego thing. If you’re in wind hard enough that your blade is holding you back, you have worse problems than your blade in the wind. Parallel blades don’t mess up your braces or sculling or the other more delicate strokes that become options. But, when a brother is in a man bun stage of life, it is best to question his advice 🤭
