I'm listening to Swans complete discography right now, and I'm currently just about to listen to STFTB, and I am so excited to listen. Currently White Light, Great Annihilator, and Children of God are my favorites.
@@diegoavalos5616 I've now listened to all of the Swans studio albums, and STFTB was amazing. I do slightly prefer their 2010s "trilogy", but it's still among my all time favorites.
Disagree with your hate of "middle-era" swans but respect your opinion and very impressed with your collection. What do you think of the last released record before they disbanded in the 90's: Soundtracks for the Blind?
Wallixification Thanks for the comment. I was a little harsh on the mid-era Swans having just watched this again months later. I honestly haven’t heard Soundtracks for the Blind in nearly a decade. I will have to check it out again. That and Children of God I have not listened to in ages
i really think the soundtracks for the blind ( especially silver side) is one my favorite so called soundtracks/ albums of all time. helpless child/ blood section/ animus etc etc... p.s. maybe not the best swans record but very close to my heart p.s.s (why you gotta be so ruuuudddeee) burning world would probably be a better album if it wasn't under such a name like swans ( for example if you said the newest country album was burning world back in the 90s no one would bat an eye, if you said the best no wave album was filth no one would bat an eye. trying to put these two albums under the same umbrella is only a journey for the most hardcore swans fan ever.)
I agree with mid era being the lesser of the 3, but the i like the great annihilator and soundtracks is a masterpiece. Cool collection though, hoping to pick up Children of God at some point. Public Castration is an experience.
Thanks for sharing the video, man! But, no love for Love of Life, Burning World and The Great Annihilator, or White Life? Brutal. Dem's my favorites. We're on opposite sides of the Swans spectrum, but I can dig it. Cheers!
soundtracks for the blind was not on vinyl at the time of this video being published and he literally explains why he doesnt have children of god in the video
Thanks for showing your great collection! I’m curious so I’ll ask: I know you’re not a fan of 90’s Swans but have you heard their 1997 Swans Are Dead live album? If so what do you think of it?
Had all the early SWANS on vinyl up to Children of God. Didn't really understand the allure to them at first. Then I saw them live at Tompkins Square Park in NYC. Just imagine the thunderous sound being reverberated off the surrounding buildings of the park. Fairly insane experience in 1986. I love all SWANS albums. Had the Love Will Tear Us Apart EP on red vinyl. Unfortunately they all were stolen when I moved to LA
Are you even a swans fan? From this video, it seems you've invested a lot of time and money into obtaining as many of their albums as you possibly can but only actually like around 3 of them... You say they're an important band for you but it's clear that you're pretty much on the fence with a MAJORITY of their output... Also, Filth, Greed and Holy Money are all albums, not EPs.
Agree with most of this comment, but "hoe can they be important if you're on the fence for the majority of their output" is stupid. Some bands have one amazing album but a trash discography, I don't think Swans fits in that category at all but bands like that exist
Love of Life is garbage? Ouch! Lol, regardless we're all certainly entitled to our own opinion, personally I quite love The Great Annihilator. Anyhow, more on topic, spectacular collection! Especially Public Castration and Cop, definite must haves if you can get your hands on 'em, which is honestly quite difficult to do so these days for a decent price
We just became friends. Coward is my fav song ever. Jarboe era swans sucks. I feel you. Fuck buddy down there. She Yoko that band. They were so good the first four releases. I don't mind Jarboe when she was kept in check, as soon as Gira let her off the leash it went down hill. I tell young people swans are like a good party. Show up to help set up, bounce in the middle and come back to watch the end.
Travis Bickle lol very interesting analogy. Hadn’t thought of her as the aggressor in their decline in sound but kind of makes sense I guess. I’m still hugely into the early albums and I’d even say Filth has overtaken Swans EP for favourite early album, but I’ve been listening to Glowing Man a lot lately. Thanks for watching
Soundtracks and the glowing man are incredible.

How was the experiencie for STFTB?

Currently doing the same now, great annihilator blew me away, about to start the seer

Oh what? Children of God is so good! "New Mind," and "Sex, God, Sex" are like my top two Swans songs.

i regret saying country
Children of God and white light from infinity are fantastically
I'd kill for pressings of Cop and Public Castration.
kinky ;))
keep the discs outside the jackets to avoid ringwear and damage on jackets!

What did you do go out and buy a bunch of swans records all at once. It's seems like you know very little about them.
jeffreysaxon yeah, seems like it
He didn't though. He's been a fan for a decade.
@@richardroberson2564 not actively, though, and he actually only seems to like a few of their albums
Did you get the Soundtracks For the Blind vinyl when it got reissued?

I mean, Swans changes their sound so much, that not everyone is gonna like every incarnation of them
@@CB-qg3yh and thats fine, but he went out of his way to spend a fuckton of money on albums he literally doesnt like.

Great collection man! I really love swans
100% agree about sensitive skin. Awesome, underrated song.
Love SWANS
Did you say "close to smug?" haven't heard of them
Children of God, hands down
No children of God is realy dummy. Rest is great and public...... Lp is the holy grail sure. Great collectie. Lp
my god
tremeeeeendo
Great ass collection besides that children of god is missing
this guy kinda seems like a bit of a hoarder
Wow..great collection but NO "children of god" copy
I disagree. I've got everything that Swans or Skin ever made, and The Burning World may be the best record they ever made.....
L 😭
And where is Children Of God??? One of their best records.....

"kept in check" ._. ok old man
Have you ever tought they might just wanted to go in diffrent creative directions
The song 'Children of God' is one of the best examples of Jarboe if you ask me.
Literally every song on White Light is written by Gira

why are you talking so much? go outside, take a walk, feed some squirrels ... nice couch though :-)
