- Hi, I’m Ian and I live in Surrey in the UK.
In this series of videos, I aim to provide a short period of calm with soft music and a view of one of the wonders of the Universe briefly showing the result of a night’s imaging.
This might be a Galaxy, a Nebula or even a planet. I will continue to demonstrate my full imaging process on other videos on different aspects of this hobby. I will post a few of these simple but calm videos of some of the amazing things we can see in the night sky. I hope you enjoy.
This ‘short’ is M31 - The Andromeda Galaxy
This was created from a two-pane mosaic which I set up through Telescopius and then used the plan mode of the ASIAIR PRO to capture the images.
The Andromeda Galaxy is the closet major galaxy to us at only 2.5 million light years away. Its name is from the Andromeda constellation that it is in. It is about 220,000 light years across and contains perhaps 1 trillion stars!

Hi Ian - I'm also in the UK but a complete beginner... enjoyed your set-up video and this image looks great! You have a new subscriber.
Amazing. Did you take this picture with your 72ed setup?
Hi thanks for watching. Yes ED72, but two panes and then stitched together for a mosaic. Clear skies Ian
@@astrotimetraveller4622 Thank you very much Ian! I am researching before I get into the astrophotography. Thinking if I should get the ED72 or something with higher focal length and bigger lens. Like ED80, etc.... Any recommendation is appreciated.
