    What decks are boring to duel against? Anything in the top tier meta. I basically take a nap while I'm waiting for them to finish their deck comboing off of itself and he can just destroy all of my defenses and just win like my deck doesn't even matter.
    Want to play Yu-Gi-Oh in an interesting, fun way that won't bore you out of your mind? _Don't play against the meta_.

      +Sam Hayes lol so true, i quit when xyzs came out but i got back into yugioh again and it feels like my deck is just there to make a turn so that opponent can test their spawn summoning and win the next turn. as for my deck i play dark worlds and elemental heros ( not masked heros). old school is the way to go but thats not happening. or just add a 30 sec turn timer and that will change up the meta completely

    • @MastaGambit

      You act like normal summoning a vanilla 1800 and setting backrow is skill. Which It clearly isn't. Just put down the nostalgia goggles and see the truth. What you think you remember is what you WANT to remember It as.NOT how It ACTUALLY was.

      Noble knights only have one maybe two "broken" plays. Both of which don't say let's not play yugioh. Bujins on the other hand, might as well be..... "thou shall not pass". Plus there's plenty of cool plays with noble knights, way drop crane. Or special crow etc-etc

    • @RaidOfStorms
      @RaidOfStorms 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Masque de Mort literally all i got from this comment is "i think you're wrong, so i will insult you", nice work, and it's really the same in Bujins, you start with no Yamato or Tenki, you're fucked, you start with Mika and no way of getting monsters on grave, you're fucked, adn you wont get to set up. problem with noble knights to me is the fact that if they do start off perfect, they literally just win then and there, while you still have a chance to play against bujins

If anything it speeds up my plays. I loved playing against my friend's final countdown & exodia decks back in the day. Exodia is even more thrilling because you never know how many pieces they hold.

    I have a Burn + Stall deck that centers around cards like Marshmallon, Stealth Bird, Giant Germ, Blast Sphere, Chain Detonation, Just Desserts, Dark Room of Nightmare, etc; you get the picture. It actually works really well but it turns duels into a slow, slogging, annoying mess for the other player because every time they get rid of something in their way, they hit another card that stalls them for one, two, three, maybe more turns if it's a monster they can't immediately get rid of. In the meantime, I just sit there and peck away at their life points. I made it as an experiment, not to be an asshole, which is why I don't really use it often. It's not fit for higher tier tournaments, though, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there are countless burn combos in there, some of which flow from one into the other using Dark Room of Nightmare and Blast Asmodian, which trigger each other a few times.

    Ghostricks have a lot of ways to play and win, a good build uses a few of them at once. Milling with Skeleton, Battle with XYZ's, Angel's (Impossible to pull off) win condition, Beatdown with XYZ's and Ghoul, straight out stall, lockdown with Quaking Mirror Force and Yuki Onna, Rank Up, Punishment and Crime, etc. and Soon with Dystopia the Despondent!!!!

      +Murray in a way, I agree they do suck to play against, simply because they slow the game down, which a lot of people do not like. but I dust my deck off every couple months and go 50/50 at locals, but its still fun and try a different strategy each time, its usually the time I get completely sick of the meta, in fact, I'm playing it this weekend.

    I used to have a Final Countdown deck, back in the day. High def warrior theme, built to turtle until it goes off. But, when I lost that deck/ someone got tired of it and 'took care of it', I created a new stall deck, which has been named Frakkin' Rocks: giant defense Rock monsters, Canyon, Cross-Counters, and a singe copy of Exxod (or however it's spelled), with a slew of Medusa Worms, Guardian Spirits, and a few other flips. Combined that concept with Level limits, Spell/Trap sealing, and Ordeal of a Traveler, and you can do the math.

    • @infiniteloop6924
      @infiniteloop6924 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The length of a deck's turn has nothing to do with how boring it is unless you're ADD and you only have fun when you're the one playing with your cards. Sylvans can execute wide range of varied and interesting plays. Plus there are many variants of the deck. To contrast, ritual beasts' turns consists of tagging one monster in and out over and over again, and that's the only way of playing the deck. Now that's boring.

    • @Zurenza
      @Zurenza 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How ever the ways of using your tag outs and RB monster's can vary as well. There are basic combos but there are only about 3 that you can look up and memorize, after that there are soooo many more out there that can get you out of hundreds of situations. One of which being a Sylvan player who stacked his feild with 4 back row, and 3 rank 8s.

    on the mobile game duel links I played a casual match against someone who was essentially just stalling me out. He had a trap that made all monsters that attacked his life points directly be destroyed, set up an ojama token in one of my only three summoning spots. I played the entire time and then picked my last card, revealed my face down card which made him pick two cards, and then I won despite him having a ton of more life points than me at that point. It felt so good.

    that shit take FOR FUCKING EVER!!!! and barely anything happens in the mean time. its basically a race to make baxia. and i wish i could say whoever makes baxia first wins, but thats not entirely true. depending on what your hand looks like you can easily recover from getting hit with baxia. and the grind continues....
    you almost wanna scoop just to end the damn game.

      @GeneralNickles 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      etw317 if you make beelze or something that can't be destroyed, then they can still baxia the damn thing.
      The best option is make yazi. It can't be targeted, and if you do it right it can't be effected by traps or destroyed by battle. That usually wins you the game. Unless your opponent uses either dark hole(which they will be maining 2 of) or black rose.
      Then it's back to the grind...

    Shoutout to Gusto, a deck that I STILL love as an archetype (Heck, I'd say that it's one of my favorite archetypes in Yu-Gi-Oh!) but haven't played in like... a LONG time. Gusto inherently works on a very defensive level. You have your core recruiting loop in Egul, Gullo, and Winda. You have Caam (such calm, much serenity. wow) that can constantly recycle your Gustos back into your Main Deck to draw 1 card each turn and... I KNOW that people get annoyed at all the floatiness... and it's like "What's the freakin' win condition??" ya know? XD
    I mean, I guess with the addition of Daigusto Sphreez and Pilica, Decendant of Gusto (and E-Tele to boot), it does allow the Deck to go more aggro. Especially true if say... you have Sphreez out and you start firing your little weenie Gusto monsters like some sort of kamikaze attack. So it's not ALL bad... unless it's your opponent on the receiving end. Killing your opponent with Sphreez and all these Gustos might cause some salt to flow right through them. It's like "MAN, dafuq is UP with these little shits!?"
    .... I miss playing Gustos. ;_; Even though Ritual Beasts are the successors, there was just something about Gusto that brought a smile to my face... just from looking at the cards themselves irl.

    Cap, Ghostricks actually have multiple win conditions depending on the build. They can win with damage, deckout, or the stall until the opponent scoops. They all have the flaw of stalling until they get comfortable about the resouces they gathered before doing the big plays though.

    let me just explain real quick what the ghostrick win condition actually is. Ghostrick skeleton can banish 1 card off the top of the opponents deck for each face up ghostrick you control, Ghostrick angle of mischief once per turn you can attach a ghostrick card to angle as an xyz material, when it reaches 10 you win the game. There are also cards like ghoul and dhullahan which can be used for offensive purposes. I run spirit barrier in my deck which means I take no damage while I control monsters, if you know ghostricks you know this is a major problem for the opponent. Seriously though it feels like this guy didn't even bother to do much research into ghostricks.

It was always highly annoying and indeed boring to my opponent as (s)he could usually do very little while (s)he watching their deck burn in front of them.

    I hate all meta decks, and am disappointed they did not at least get honorable mentions. Not any specific one, just anything that ever was, is, and will be a "meta" deck.
    Let's start with the definition of boring as defined by Google: not interesting; tedious.
    Meta decks are used by everyone because they're so broken and people like to win. If it's so widespread, so ubiquitous, so common, it becomes uninteresting. Seeing it played over and over is indeed tedious. Since meta decks possess these qualities, they are the very definition of the word, boring. There are more than 2 archtypes, use one that speaks to you. If your personality is the personification of boring, fine use a meta deck. Clearly you're meant for each other.

    • @ScheduledChip
      @ScheduledChip 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't agree with this. Casual games are the place for personality, competitive is just about winning. It's like with sports; when you're just dicking about with your friends you can do all the tricks and showboating you want, but in a serious match efficiency and consistency is king and you play to win.

    • @kylem.7466
      @kylem.7466 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yugioh is one of the few games I've ever played that has players who are one dimensional enough to think that being "competitive" equates to being boring and attempting to constantly justify a lack of any inspiration.
      Yugioh is also a game were winning tournaments gets you no true monetary gain, you know like "sports".

    • @ScheduledChip
      @ScheduledChip 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Kyle Shade People will always enjoy winning though. Just look at Jose Mourinho's Chelsea teams (apologies if you don't follow football), they were awful to watch at times but they always got the results. Now I'm not advocating people using degenerate decks like Frog FTK and Exodia Turbo but you can't bash people for using what wins in competitive yugioh. Blame konami for making formats where one or two decks are head and shoulders above the rest.

    • @kylem.7466
      @kylem.7466 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm not randomly bashing people for using winning decks, I'm saying that a deck isn't boring based on the premise of it makes someone try harder, or I have no out in my own deck so that makes my opponent's deck either troll based or obnoxious.
      Also being "competitive" doesn't mean you have to look down on others for not playing the most masterful meta deck in the game...correction format.Chris White

    • @hydrolythe

      No. It is a minus one that gets easily hit with a Mystical Space Typhoon or Twin Twister. Not only that, but duels nowadays don't last all that long and because you have to win 2 duels to win a game in a tournament.
      A better suggestion would be Jackpot 7, which scares away your opponent from playing huge Spell/Trap removal cards, but even then the best thing to mislead the opponent is by playing a deck that they have never seen before, because that means most of the time that they can not answer it adequately.

    Speaking of boring decks, I quit the game for a long time and then got back to it a couple of years ago, around that time I played against a guy who used Inzektors on DN. I have a habit of checking on time while playing, and the mother fucker spent 13 minutes on one turn!! when it was finally my turn I destroyed his monsters (but didn't deal much damage) and I ended my turn, then the fucker drew a card and surrendered! So he lets me wait for 13 minutes but God forbid he spends time trying to come back! worst part is that he then offered a rematch and said "This time I'm gonna win for sure", I replied "if you're gonna win for sure then why bother playing?" and I quit!

    • @GanicoGSx
      @GanicoGSx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bummer...
      I'm tempted to take a break (instead of quitting like I did years ago) because of the stress I have been feeling if the game has really gotten "better" and not even sure if "play whatever you want and have fun with" is even possible and that just adds to my overall "self-esteem"/"confidence" issues. It's hard but I'm trying to hang on as much as I can.

      @GanicoGSx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Diablo Mask It definitely is not easy...
      Especially finding friend to play that are not using "meta" decks and truly playing whatever deck build they want. Like when I was playing casual duels over at the student lounge of a college I graduated from. I was even warned by a friend that using more than 1 or 2 floodgate cards like "Vanity's Emptiness" or a "meta" deck is generally frowned upon when they're just playing casual/non-competitive over there and want to have a fun time. Heck, if it's possible, I'd probably rather be in a Beginner bracket of a tourney because of that and not really do well in the Advance bracket, unless I have to play a "meta" just so I could stand...a ghost of a chance...

After watching 3 Wind-up players search, summon, loop their way, I was pleading to finally face off against ANYTHING else. When the 4th player played his first card on his first turn in round one and revealed that he played Wind-ups, I simply grabbed my deck and said "Fuck this!" and refused to duel anyone else. I hope I never have to re-experience anything like this ever again.

    Spellbooks, and dragon rulers (when they were in the format).
