    convulsion of nature. That cards makes the game more fun. And I have made a deck recipe that makes Convulsion of Nature work surprisingly well in some competitive play. I call it the Jar Deck. Morphing Jar, Cobra Jar, Cyber Jar, Etc.

    bait doll has the unusual outcome of an effect activating within the resolving of an effect, an outcome that I believe doesn't happen in any other circumstance. you can actually take advantage of this by ensuring the trap card you activate can't be negated. say your opponent has shi en on the field for example and you want to karma cut him. you can activate bait doll and target your karma cut. if he negates bait doll, then you can activate karma cut and target shi en. if he doesn't negate bait doll, he still won't be able to negate karma cut because you can't activate effects in the middle of a resolving chain, and kama cut activates in the middle of the resolution of bait doll.

    Darkness approaches was a bad way to trigger your flip effects again when flip decks were like a tier 1-2 deck back in 2002-03, cold feet is a joke on cold wave but it can combo mystic ref panel to cold wae your opponent dark sage is super crazy if you can summon it correctly because searching any spell card is crazy good, relay souls downside can be mitigated by xyzing with the monster, convulsions with gishki diviner and archfiends oath turns into a plus 3 each turn, and last turn was a legit strategy with jowgen. Those are the cards i know how to use and abuse in this list.

      Yeah but if you Xyz Summon with that Monster it's no longer face-up which means you no longer get any benefit at all rendering that card useless but yes due to the strange ass rules of Xyz Monsters and Xyz Materials not actually being on the field anymore once created yes you can avoid the duel winning problem

    • @TheWinterPhoenix

      +trexdrew it still special summons a monster so I mean there's that. There was an OTK with that card at one time before pendulum summoning you'd flood the field with using that then go and otk away

    Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Black Luster Soldier.
    Since we have Neo BEUD and BLS Envoy of Beginnings means that the only use you would have for the two old cards would be to either:
    -Summon Blue Eyes Shinning Dragon
    or
    -Fusion summon Dragon Master Knight
    And both are hard to summon

  • @veeonix9301

    Sounds like you overlooked the most complicated card in Yu-Gi-Oh! History. Pole Position...
    Now, I haven't played the game in many years. I know that rulings and game design has changed over the years (Last played during the Zexal series). This card was an absolute nightmare. The interaction with other cards could cause "infinite loops" (Like using Curse of Darkness and Axe of Despair).
    Once upon a time, the rules stated that if an infinite loop happened as a result of an in game action due to the interactions with Pole Position, that the game must be rewinded to the last functional game state before that action was taken. Then, that action is considered an illegal action, and not a valid play.
    This would dictate that it is an illegal move for your opponent to play a spell card. Similar loops could be created with Chain Energy. A player must pay 500 life, triggering the difference in life totals (with Megamorph) that cause an infinite calculation loop on monster stats. The game state is rewinded, and playing a card is an illegal play. Since taking an optional action (Playing a card) is not a mandatory function of the game that causes the loop cycle, Pole Position will not be destroyed by game mechanics.
    If you do a bit of card searching and Google "Pole Position Infinites" you will find that their are several of these. While the decks are not exactly 'competitive,' when it does happen it is a logistical nightmare for the judges.
    Also, Toll with Pole Position + Megamorph can also create a hard lock from attacks under the same principals.

    I think Mystical Refpanel is worth mentioning. This is one of those cards where, although it can actually be quite useful, the strange wording and rulings make it hard to splash and even harder to actually use.
    "Activate only when a spell card that targets one player is activated. The effect of that spell card is applied to the other player".
    The ambiguity is in what exactly counts as "targeting a player". Apparently, things like draw effects, lifepoint manipulation, and temporary ruling changes like Cold Feet. The card doesn't see much play, partly because the only effects you'll be taking are Pantheism and Pot of Duality, but also partly because the card effect is innately confusing.

  • @MrOmegatronic

    Blasting Fuse works well in online dueling environments, since they like to put cards in either the middle zone first and work outwards, or in the zones from left to right. Apart from that, it can be useful against opponents that either swarm or fill their entire backrow, and have at least one card in their backrow or monster zone, respectively; set BF in line with that one card, then summon a monster in that row with an effect that triggers when destroyed, when destroyed by a card effect, when sent from the field to the Graveyard, or something of the sort (examples would be Necro Fleur, most of the Kozmo buggers, Palladium Oracle Mahad, Abyss Actor - Wild Hope, Guiding Ariadne, Gold or Silver Gadget, Apple Magician Girl, Miracle Flipper, Marshmacaron, D3, Mermail Abysslinde or Abysshilde, etc.). It's a bit wonky, but can be _really_ useful if you strategise, and know how to abuse monsters that trigger when destroyed by your own effects.
    Darkness Approaches is a good defense against any and all cards that target "face-up Attack Position" monsters, or against any and all cards that target face-up monsters in general, but is otherwise more-or-less worthless (I believe there are a few cards that target "face-down Defense Position" monsters, but not that many). Since its discard is a cost, it won't help Dark World decks all that much; however, it _will_ help Fabled decks, and can be used to set up the graveyard for future use (such as dropping a light & dark monster for BLS). Also, it cripples monsters that depend on their effects, like Montage Dragon. [This card was more useful before Morphing Jar was banned, because it's effectively identical to Book of Moon when used on MJ; you can flip summon a monster from face-down Attack to face-up Attack, letting you use MJ's effect.]
    Cold Feet is a dick move when used with Mystical Refpanel, which is probably the least situational use of it. Apart from that, you can use it to avoid negative effects that start a chain, like Lucky Punch's 3-tails effect, Brain Research Lab's removed-from-field effect, or Mass Hypnosis' End Phase effect; there are usually, but not always, more efficient ways to avoid the effects. That said, the best use for it is throwing it at guys with invisible guns, just like Kaiba.
    You can use Present Exchange for deck thinning and stealing your opponent's cards, if you give your opponents "useless" cards (like the Seal of Orichalcos, if your opponent has an Extra Deck). This can easily backfire, though; not only is it possible that they'll find a use for it, it's possible that they'll give you something that benefits them when it hits their Graveyard. Apart from that, you can use it to set up Dragged Down into the Grave, by giving your opponent cards that you can discard; this can be useful for Dark World decks, or for Mermail decks if you give your opponent Abysshilde.
    Dark Sage... is _really_ good for searching, but its summon requirement makes it entirely luck-based. So... basically, buy a rigged coin, and hope no one ever catches on. Or, y'know, try to abuse Second Coin Toss.
    Relay Soul is... very good, but _only_ with a shitton of setup. Basically, you need Anti-Spell Fragrance and Dark Simorgh, and a way to lock down your opponent's Special Summons and monster effects. Then, summon a monster that can't be destroyed by battle, and you're good as long as all these conditions remain active. Apart from that, you can use it to grab an Xyz Material, because the Xyz Material loophole says that monsters never officially "leave" the field when used as Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon.
    Convulsion of Nature works well with any and all cards that require you to predict what you're going to draw. It also helps you strategise around your opponent's deck; conversely, since it reveals your deck, too, it helps them strategise around your deck. It also comboes well with cards that require you to know what's in your opponent's hand, like Mind Crush.
    Parasite Paracide is good for stalling against Joey, more or less. Apart from that, it's a very situational counter, and basically a worse DNA Surgery.
    Heroic Gift can be useful with Endless Decay, Hope for Escape, and similar cards. It can also be useful for effects that depend on the difference between your LP and your opponent's. Good for Exodia decks, probably.
    Reversal Quiz can be useful in all-Spells decks, or with Convulsion of Nature. It also comboes well with Heroic Gift and Hope for Escape; get your LP and your opponents' down to 2000, use Gift, use Hope, use Reversal Quiz. That's a lot of work for draws, though.
    Yu-Jo Friendship can actually be easy to use, but again, really situational. Get both players down to 2k, use Gift, use Hope, summon Endless Decay, use Yu-Jo, summon anything with at least 500 ATK, clear your opponent's monster zones, attack with both your monsters. You win if they don't stop the attack. You also get your opponent's respect for using an overly-complex, easily-stopped combo that you'd have to be all but literally insane to use.
    Last Turn is one of the most abuseable cards in the game. Choose a monster that prevents your opponent from Special Summoning. You win, period, end of story; as they can't special summon, they automatically lose by default.

    One of my favortie cards as a kid was Pharaoh's Treasure. I ran it in a rock deck that focused on stalling until I got enough dead monsters for Megarock dragon (this was almost 10 years ago so since there were no synchro yet people were just waiting for a tribute summon). Pharaoh's Treasure goes face up shuffled into your deck and when drawn it goes to the grave and you get any card in there to your hand.

      In a tournament, when you only have 5 turns left of the duel (because you went overtime) and you have more life points than your opponent, you could activate 3 Pyro Clock of Destiny and win the game. You'd have to build an entire deck based around stalling for 45 minutes, though.

    I use convulsion of nature in my lvl8 plant deck. It's a big part of my strategy, because I can see both what my opponent will draw and what I will mill with my Sylvan Hermitree. It is really important when you use the effect of that card at least 4 or more times per turn like I do.

    Kogorasho has a great video on a Convulsion of Nature/Gishki/Alien Turbo deck. Blasting Fuse can actually be quite hilarious in Chain Beat. If you are playing online, then most of the time auto card placement will align everything for you and the Wind Up Rabbit/Evilswarm Thunderbird can dodge the destruction. In real life, people often make the same mistakes as well and it works exactly once before you side it out for game 2 and 3

  • @Pepsiman2006
    @Pepsiman2006 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love Convulsion of Nature and play it quite often. Most decks target monsters, the field, spells, traps, graveyard, life points, banished, or the decks itself. This card helps decks that target the player (mentally).
    The most nerve wrecking thing to an opponent is when they are forced to show their hand and top card of their deck while they are playing while you are completely fine showing the next card on top of your deck.
    The other good use of this cards are for other cards that ask you to predict your next draw. Who needs a Millennium Eye when you can simply just read what is next. :)

      I know this is an old comment, but that card negates the activation, but not the cost. For example, if a spell card requires you to discard a card to activate it, you discard a card, activate it, then it's negated and returned to your hand, so if you want to activate it you have to pay the cost again. Or you can just use it against quick play spells

  • @Delimon007
    @Delimon007 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    TBH I find big burn to be kinda awkward to use because it usually punishes both you and your opponent because most decks have nothing to do with cards that have been removed from play but a card that I find even more awkward than that is cemetery bomb. It's activation effect is simple enough but it requires your opponent to have several cards in the grave yard. Great for hand/deck destruction decks but in all honesty you could have just dealt the damage in another more reliable fashion such as using wave motion cannon etc.
    Honorable mention to gravity bond which basically puts the nail in the coffin for most decks.

    heroic gift potentially be one of the highest damage dealing trap cards. Remember bad reaction to simochi? If you have bad reaction to simochi activated then you activate heroic gift it becomes a trap card that deals anywhere from 6000 points of damage to 7950 points of damage if your opponent uses a monster that has some odd amount of attack points that ends in 50. so that's the best use of it in my opinion.

      it win condition is really imporant if you end up in a ghostrick mirror match. because connecting attacks is basicly impossible in the miror and you are also lacking options to deminish your opponents ressources.

    Tactics! If you got yourself down to 100LP then used Convulsion of nature to flip your decks upside down, then afterwards used reversal quiz to look at your clearly visable upside down deck, you would get the answer correct, your opponent would then have 100LP and you could win with a simple burn damage card. :P

    Cold Feet can be used to prevent Light Barrier from negating itself

    • @Devilfish6666
      @Devilfish6666 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But it would also cancel Light Barrier's positive effects at the same time...

    • @bryantan4228
      @bryantan4228 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cold Feet does not negate the continuous effects. It prevents you from "using" which means activating spell cards and spell card effects.

    • @Devilfish6666
      @Devilfish6666 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all: Yes it does. The card text reads you cannot "activate or set spell or trap cards OR USE THEIR EFFECTS". The latter means you cannot use permanent effects either.
      Second of all: The coin flip effect of Light Barrier is also a permanent effect. So if a card negates the one effect, it negates the others as well automatically as they are the same type of effects. Try it out on YGOPRO.

    • @bryantan4228
      @bryantan4228 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't use continuous effects. They are just there. A card does not negate unless it explicitly says negate.
      People assuming random cards negate, even though the word "negate" isn't in their card text, is why so many people believe MST negates

    • @Devilfish6666
      @Devilfish6666 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you do use continous effects as long as they activate to start a chain which is what Light Barrier's 2 positive effects both do. Pls try it out in YGOPRO, Cold feet does negate all of Light Barrier's effects.

    Dark Sage's summoning condition is actually extremely overrated difficulty-wise. It can be summoned from the hand or deck, which means you don't even need it in your hand to summon it.
    Now just go Ancient Rules to summon Dark Magician, summon Time Wizard and go second coin toss. You have a 3/4 chance of getting a beafy monster and free Spell Card. It's not super easy, but it's certainly not up there with cards like Sophia.

      there use to be a ton. it was a way to stall out the game into time. They'd win the first duel with final countdown then side into self destruct button. Self destruct button was banned because it would draw out games and final countdown was limited for the same reason.

    An unfortunate report/after genocide/Burning Land.
    After Genocide had a name change to after the struggle and makes all creatures involved in battle this turn get destroyed at end of dam step (some thing similar).
    Burning land when activated destroys all field spells then during each players draw phase does 500 dam to that player.
    An unfortunate report has the nearly unusable effect of giving your opponent two battle phases... I am still researching a OTK combo for this card.

    I'm surprised that the prize monsters with auto win effects aren't on here. Their summons and effect reek of gimmick. First you have to tribute three monsters you control with the same type as said monster, then said monster must drop your opponent's to zero by a direct attack to win the duel. What's the chance that you would get the summons let alone the attack if your opponent has a back row, and the zxy type of these monsters even worst because they have to have material on them to get this effect.
