In this episode, Tammy welcomes guest, Janice Fiamengo to discuss issues in regards to feminism. Specifically, they cover the broad history of the feminist movement, the key influencers and events, and the general attitude of resentment against men.
Janice Fiamengo is a retired Professor of English from the University of Ottawa. She began The Fiamengo File series of TH-cam videos in 2015 to discuss the fraud of academic feminism and its devastating social effects. Her book *Sons of Feminism: Men Have Their Say*
was published in 2018, containing stories from men who have suffered in our feminist culture. She is now working on a new video series to uncover the anti-male bigotry and female supremacism at the origins of feminism in the 18th and 19th centuries.

It's funny how many women are offended by statements like "you should be at home raising children" but would be more than willing to castigate a man who stayed home and didn't work for not "fulfilling his responsibilities."

I have a partner who wants to stay at home most of the time and work from home and i deeply appreciate this side of his. The only problem is that he wants to stay at home to play video games and laze around. He still wants me to cook and clean like a diligent woman that i am and spare him the effort of doing his part. He says i just do these housework chores better because i m a woman while he ll ocasionally fix the plugs or a machine and he wants to be praised for fixing stuff ocasionally while i don t ask for praise for cooking and washing the dishes on a daily basis. I hope you know what i m talking about.

I have a stay at home husband. We do have different levels of cleanliness which is a constant negotiation. I was a stay at home parent for a few weeks and found I wasn't satisfied with my own cleanliness, OCD, unrest. Knowing both sides of my possible parenting situation, I do prefer working because it gives me a break from motherly worrying. I don't bring in as much money as he could, but still we are happier with our current arrangement. Negotiating balance is a lifelong chore, I feel.

All of this is not happening just now. I'm GenX, kid in the 80s, teen in the 90s. Everything Janice lists at 2:08 is exactly what's been hammered into hour heads 40 years ago. And yeah, the outcome isn't great. Every little misstep results in disproportional guilt, shame, and self-loathing. And it doesn't stop with the relationships with women. This mindset takes over all areas of life. "Assertiveness is bad", "Ambition is bad", "Fighting back is bad", "Taking what's yours is bad", "Presenting yourself is bad", "Being first is bad". It takes a lot of hard work to get this toxic sludge out of your system. Especially when you're convinced, that it's you who's toxic.

It is very refreshing to hear two women discuss the issues that men face in society today. I wish it wasn’t relevant or important to note your sex here as I believe human issues should be relevant for all, regardless of sex, but such are the times. I do my best to hold love, appreciation, and respect for others, including women, but my commitment is challenged regularly by the seemingly culturally supported demonization of men and masculine characteristics. I know there are wise, compassionate, and ethical women such as you two out there which keep my spirits alive and aims pure but it becomes difficult to extend love towards those who look at you like a villain, guilty before held for trial. I appreciate the work you are doing here and will continue to make an effort to support women, along with men, during the most divisive era humanity has ever contended with.

If you say anything a female co-worker doesn't like, no matter how harmless or well-intended, she can get rid of you at any time without effort or letting you know. Your boss will just play along no matter what. All she needs to do is make a complaint behind your back, no bad conscience, no effs given whatsoever. Modern women see this as being "empowered". A bit too much power for my taste. That kind of power used to be reserved for dictators.

My 89 year old mother passed away this year. A strong willed feminist, i was raised under feminist values. I always tried to respect women and be a good man. It was when my mother, near her death bed, confessed to me that she never loved my father, that she used him. I understood so much in that moment. She had no idea the pain, the anguish this caused me. I finally understood how horridly she had treated my father, all the while playing the victim of the relationship. As a man, it was a rude awakening.
Throughout my life, I have found that women do not like men who have taken on feminist values, to an almost exclusive degree. Becoming a feminist man is death to a man's love life, while the men who use, degrade and abuse women seem to have no end to the line of women waiting for their turn with those men.

    • @mon_ange333mony4
      @mon_ange333mony4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

That isn't true. I would love to meet a feminist man who really respects and cares for women as individuals but you need to know that in some places and some countries there aren t such men. They say they are "feminists" just to be appreciated or accepted by women to get something from them, not because they actually believe in feminist values which is very difficult. A lot of women don t even know how to stand by these values themselves so they confuse good men with weak willed men and they have a go with assholes because they make a strong impression on them in their younger years. Then they find out the truth but are too passive or coward to make the right choice.
Your mother may have been pressured to marry someone when she felt she should have developed herself futher along the lines of study or profession. She might have felt resentful about this situation at that time. That s why she told you that painful truth. Maybe she felt unprepared or too ripe for a marriage life and for having children. You just need to have compassion for her and don t judge her in haste before finding out what affected her so badly that she had to tell you this on her death bed. Having an understanding about what her life was about at that time and about her values as a feminist could give you more insight into her private world of thoughts. Strong willed women were often at odds with society in former times and they aspired for more freedom than they could actually get at those times. This doesn t mean she was an ungrateful or a mean woman. Maybe she was isolated or felt alienated by not being able to share more of herself with society than she did. Maybe she had a feeling of unease throughout her life as she aged and she couldn t express her full potential or work towards her accomplishment as an individual. I'm sure she loved you and she cared for you and your dad the best she could or at least she tried. Keep in mind what is essencial about your relationship with her and value her sincerity and commitment. I'm sure you can find value in what she taught you about life and women in general and don t believe women have to be perfect in their role as mothers and partners. With this knowledge you will find more meaning to your relationships with women and more peace within yourself.

Your extraordinary virtues of : sharp discernment, insight , wisdom , fairness and most importantly compassion really stand out as shining beacon in a dark culture of malice and lies about half the world’s population . The chord that really struck the loudest in this interview was the sad reality “ that men don’t feel pain and that they are subhuman.” I noticed this years ago . That men in terrible pain and suffering were often ignored . That when airplanes would go done only the number of women and children that died were counted or mentioned . This should terrify anyone with an ounce of brain matter. When someone is dehumanized mass murder , torture and sacrifice quickly follow . And the population untouched stands a loof and unfeeling . Horrifying

So many people are tied to their personal experiences, regardless of what the data shows about conditions at large. It starts out with something like, "this happened to me 30 years ago, so my feelings trump your stats". I hear this from older feminists who never listen to young men recounting what's happening to them. This just prompts me to say, "I'm for equal rights and opportunities regardless of gender; I'm not a feminist"

  • @piwetshombe4684

One cannot possibly be angry with women as a group. It is the ideology of feminism that is relevant, not women as a gender/sex. As an example, there are many men who strongly uphold feminist ideology.
What I find horrible is that neither side wants to listen/learn from the effects of the opposing movement and so much could be achieved by both sides listening. Not necessarily always to the chaotic noise, but rather to the deeper issues that are undergirding all these things. I think both sides have important perspectives, which is why I have such a huge problem with the idea that most people are too afraid to speak their minds for fear of the negative effects it could have on their well-being.
I'm also unhappy about the behaviour of the courts and law enforcement in upholding one or other side on the basis of who's making the louder noise from a political standpoint. Everyone should be very concerned about this.

  • @dottenday

I grew up in the 60's and 70's and became a man in the early 80's. I watched as feminism took root in American society and watched as American women became insufferable, arrogant, and develop a gang mentality. I learned early on as a young man to steer clear of American women because they had lost all femininity and were obnoxious. They were constantly playing both sides of the fence; poor little me; don't you dare make a comment about or to me, or I'll get you arrested or worse. I decided that the kind of woman I wanted to share my life and home with was one who embraced her femininity and had the same ideal that women traditionally held. Have a home; raise good kids; support my husband to go out there and work to provide for her and their children. I found a Japanese woman who had all those traditional qualities. I never even considered marrying an American woman because they were obnoxious, ready to claim victim-hood, were generally untrustworthy and not at all attractive as a female. My wife and I spent a decade or so in the US and often times my friends' wives would encounter her and I could sense jealousy. They were jealous in the fact that she was a good woman, a wonderful mother and a superb wife - things they were never taught or encouraged to be, but that they realized too late that that is what they really, deep-down wanted to be. They realized feminism had destroyed them. My male friends always would say: Your wife...man...I wish my wife were like her. I tried multiple times to get some of my musician friends to get together, but their wives wouldn't allow it, unless they could be there too. Finally, I got them together, but of course all the wives had to be there. It went from just a jam with some male friends to being overrun with their dumb wives who started calling out songs for us to play - like it was their party. We were playing bluegrass, but they would call out songs by Billy Joel, or Elton John - all chick tunes that AREN'T bluegrass. They would get angry if we wouldn't play it. My wife said: Those women were envious of their husband's going out to have fun with the boys, and didn't want them to have more fun they there would, so they tagged along to ruin it for him. She's right. You two fine ladies seem to understand how feminism has ruined modern American women and made them obnoxious, repugnant, and undesirable.

It's not feminism that ruined American women, it was their own bad character and lack of insight and maybe poor boundaries in their relationships with their partners. I know a lot of women like these as well. Once they marry they keep a tight rein on their husbands and need all of their attention, being jealous and overbearing at all times . These women that I know are just insecure about their femininity such as men can be insecure too about being masculine. I m a feminist and i don t mind when my partner goes out with his friends or has fun by himself. So please don t think that feminism has spoilt women, they have been spoilt girls before entering marriage and their partners couldn t see this in their former years or weren t bothered that much in the honey moon phase of their relationship. In time they showed their true "colours" and they would have been like that even if they hadn t been feminists.

I'm a 39 year old woman, so as a child of the 80's I witnessed many women like that. Sad to say what you just wrote is the truth. I dislike what the modern American woman has become, it's why so many men are single today. All I can say is there are a few of us good women out there. Like your wife, I've had other women jealous of me and I think it's all due to the fact that I'm a good wife to my husband and I dare enjoy spending time with him. Isn't that crazy? God bless your wife, I'm happy you've found her :0)

    • @dottenday
      @dottenday 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@BayShore2001 Good for you. American women get brow-beaten and intimidated into doing things they don't really want to do. They don't want to go out and work in a company and climb the corporate ladder. That's what feminism is telling them they are supposed to do and if they don't they get attacked or maligned. Women like yourself need to stand up for themselves and say, I have a choice. I can go to work and make a big career for myself, or stay at home and make a home for my family. Women have a choice. Men don't. If a man said: No, you go to work, and I'll stay home with the kids and cook and clean and do the shopping and make the house a really comfortable place for all of us, and ensure the kids come home from school and there is a parent there, women would begin to complain that men get to stay home, forcing them to work. Modern American women haven't been taught that THEY are the foundation of the home. It's an important and vital role that only they can play. Men don't give a hoot about a woman's career or income. It means NOTHING to a man. So, I'm glad you are doing what your heart is telling you. Your husband is very proud, and so can you be too.

Dates are one of the oldest fruit crops in the world. They have male and female trees. Dates contain seeds which can be planted to grow more fruit. Dates are a major food source in Israel and the middle east.
The palm leaves were used in the Triumphal Entry when Christ entered Jerusalem before His death. Those that gathered waived the date palm tree leaves. The palm branch is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace, and eternal life in the Mediterranean world. The palm (Phoenix) was sacred and represented immortality. In Christianity, the palm branch represents victory of the spirit over the flesh. Since a victory signals an end to a conflict or competition, the palm developed into a symbol of peace - often associated with Paradise.
I would say your name suits you. I hope I get to meet you one day. 🕊

Seeing these highly secure, confident women is so refreshing. I grew up around women like this, but it seems like they're a dying breed. The modern obsession with empowering women seems to have eradicated them by pathologizing them. One of the ironies is that all the tactics women are using to try to make themselves stronger these days actually make you weaker. And both men and women are far weaker than men and women of the past.

I am a living soul too. I can say no and I can be nice and I don’t have to feel bad for everyone. Sorry I’m not mad but it’s a hard thing to live and try help but ignore sometimes when you think you should shut up and put up. It’s took me 45 years and 2 suicide attempts (which I couldn’t even do properly)to work that out xx

Thank you for your comment. You have been given many difficult challenges in your life. I have been given different challenges. I couldn't get along with my sister and father. We constantly squabbled. I finally completely stopped talking to my family, I stopped talking and now they talk to me and I listen. Now that I let my sister talk, I found out what she was thinking. She first told me all kinds of things about me that just weren't true and then, out of nowhere, my sister told me that I am a good mother. If I'm careful and listen to myself I can hear what I think too. Then I can ask for guidance from my higher power and find what I need to say or do for myself. Then maybe I can be of service to another person, once I have what I need.

Kate, I understand exactly the never ending battle you’ve faced as I myself have experienced many similar situations. Instead of a stepfather it was my two older cousins who lived next door and my middle aged brother in law, beginning around 5 or 6 until 12 or 13. I have struggled with my identity and sexuality for as long as I can remember. In addition to religious shaming due to being bisexual, primarily attracted to women, as my family was Catholic. I have always felt so incredibly resentful that I was female, it feels like a sick joke of sorts. Feminism became a shield for me, a way to block some of the anxiety and fear that has rooted itself. I know now that the jokes and such are to keep my insecurities at bay. Which is what attracted me to the philosophy. Feminism promised to protect me, to give me my power back, which had been stolen from me as a child. It promises to make me powerful, to return some of what that man and boys took from me. It hasn’t though, it has failed me every time in all my 44 years. I promises everything and delivers nothing.
What you stated at the end, that it has taken your whole life to realize that you have worth resonates to fully to me. Though it has manifested very different for myself. Whereas you attempted to hide or not be noticed, to not need anything… I pushed for what feminism told me was worthwhile wanting. I achieved my goals in my career, I had my children and my career, i had a meek and respectful husband, I dominated my household for many years. I made three times what my husband does, achieved far more success than he did, but I saw it as absolutely necessary that I do far better than him. It was never enough. Then my body crashed, it literally just hit a wall after my 4 child. My career fell apart as I couldn’t maintain that level of performance. I went from leadership path to “as needed” or temporary positions. When I lost that crutch my own self identity fell to pieces in front of me… who was I now that I wasn’t that strong powerful woman? All that effort all those years and it all just slipped right through my fingers! I realized then that my job wasn’t who I was, that was when I realized I did not know who I was. I’ve discovered in the years since that all those feelings, the ones my body and mind had trained myself to fight, vulnerability, fear, rejection, those same ones that pushed me all along was actually my body trying to protect me from the threats that no longer threatened me. Slowly over time I realized what I had done to my husband. How he had seen that insecurity in me and had thus just assumed a meek role. That has changed along with my own role in our family. When I realized I did not actually want that role, it was what I thought I needed to protect myself from my husband. But 22 years into our marriage, logically I know that I have no need to protect myself from him. In fact in the last 10 years or so I have realized that in actuality my husband has been protecting me all along, without my even knowing it. Eventually I began to let him… now it is still a conscious choice I have to make, my instincts say “fight” but my heart says relax… anyway I do understand your feelings in that you were apparently in a much different situation witb your two exes as well as attempting suicide. I am so sorry for all that you’ve experienced, please know that my heart is with you and that you are worth it all! You are so incredibly strong and brave to have made it this far. ❤️

You seem so gentle and kind and it's so nice to see you discussing this issue as I was a victim of modern feminism and no longer see my two daughters. I'm not a conservative though and was very disappointed to see Jordan support the Truckers so vehemently. He's been attacked so much (unfairly) by the left that he doesn't appear to be as emotionally strong and dignified as he used to be. He needs to stay off Twitter (ha ha) because his fuse seems shorter. But your family is doing such great work out there for me to be critical. I'm an atheist, but Jordan helped me realize there was a need for spirituality and now I'm a secular Buddhist and have a spiritual practice. Spiritually speaking (gender aside), the divine feminine and masculine can begin with a fundamental understanding of the cyclical nature of reality (God).
Represented by the snake in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth). The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle.
As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8).
Sekhmet statues (ancient Egyptian) carry most of their weight in symbolic memory of what was a mother culture dedicated to the direct experience of baptism. As the leg shaped hairlocks extend from maternal breasts to the womb of rebirth, the lioness's head proportions are such that they highlight the bust of a second animal figure. The Lioness's ears as eyes and eyes as nose (nostrils) brings to life the figure of a reptile. 'Neath the halo headress of the solar egg, the lioness's egg fertilization process being internal (Set) and the reptile's egg fertilization process being external (Setting), such being key components to the safety of entering the trans-egoic or "born again" state. The life threatening fear associated with the predatory nature of a lion and/or crocodile encounter are reflective of the intense ego death experiences associated with the transpersonal awakening process.
In spiritually matriarchal times, illumination could be seen as wearing the false beard (ancient Egyptian funerary "ego" death mask) as the high state of cyclical self knowing; high awareness of both our upper matriarchal half and our lower (later) patriarchal half (compared with a mini lower body replica, an "as above so below" tail end beard extension); in full recognition of her civilizational Underworld, her inevitable cyclical destiny. The male pharaoh wears his beard tapered in reverse, indicating a pointing upwards towards the patriarchal head, divine representative of God's tail end cycle.
Mary Magdalene's anointing and wiping of Jesus's feet with her hair can then be seen as head to tail (toe) imagery as she descends her matriarchal head to his patriarchal feet, thus reenacting the high understanding of the divine cyclical process. (John 12:3)
To carry the Ankh was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding. As the upper matriarchal womb symbolised the fertile birthing of civilization, below, the now Christian cross is carried to place emphasis on the lower (later) "End Times" Father principle of the great cycle.
Lord Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu diety, displays a cyclical head to trunk symbolism and points to the Mother head of his matriarchal elephant society.
A whole temple was dedicated to the ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor, who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. th-cam.com/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/w-d-xo.html

So nothing can be done till you change that reality of billionaires psychopaths in this society and how they are leading everyone. And women are taught to go for the richest man they can get. After a decade and a half of rejection, disappointment, lonliness and heartbreak, I walked away.
I applied the first and second principles of tactics, which I was taught when I was trained as an army officer.
    1. Fight only the battles that can be won.
    2. Do not reinforce defeat.
Now that I am on the wrong side of 40, women who would have told me to FOAD when they were 20 come sniffing around.

Should you have lowered some of these expectations you had had the ocasion to simply enjoy the ride and call pleasure by its name. That was all. Once you would have had enough of fun, it s impossible not to have found a good, stable woman who would have adapted to your needs as a mature, down to earth individual who has realistic expectations about women, not highly unrealistic ones. What i really find unfair is that you equate feminism with misandry. Feminism strives for equality of opportunities, freedom and rights for women while misandry stands for hatred against men. Some extreme 3 rd wave feminists have turned misandrist as well but that doesn t make all feminists and all women who embrace some feminist ideas hateful towards men. At the same time there isn t an equivalent for men in terms of movement other than a mysoginistic all encompassing view on women s toxic femininity termed as general feminism. MGTOW and Incels are not communities that try to support men without trashing women while genuine feminism is not about trashing men, making men bitter, powerless and emasculated. You can easily check that by finding enough men who support feminist thought and can clarify you more on the major principles that make feminism a pro active, life affirming and motivating trend for modern thinkers that has nothing to do with misandry and demoralising young men. Your problem is that you look too much into women being scapegoats for men' s issues that are more in line with their upbringing than with women. Take into consideration that modern men are no longer getting mandatory military education, they aren' t taught basic mechanical skills in schools, and they no longer work in the industrial domains as they used to a decade ago, they don't fight in wars or build things without the use of technology . A lot of modern men study computer science and many study on their own, they don t have contemporary menthors to inspire and guide them in their profession and be a fatherly figure who also teaches them how to behave in an increasing fast paced, multicultural environment as Internet is nowadays. They only acces fragmented, overly subjective advice on how to improve themselves as if there s a standard receipe for everyone. There isn t actually one. It's good they have Jordan Peterson for the time being but taking Peterson's advice as the only way out of suffering and failure isn t going to compensate entirely for years of not working on one' s self and wasting time on finding a scapegoat for one' s unhapiness.

Feminism is a misandrist ideology at its core because it seeks the advancement of women at the expense of men, it demonises masculinity and enact laws that violate the civil rights of men.
What most people don't seem to understand is that men's social status needs to be higher than women's because women are the hypergamous sex. Women date up, men date down social hierarchies. That's a feature of our species underpinned by millenia of sexual selection. Gender equality clashes with that and it's very hard for men to accept that they should be of lower or equal status to women because that excludes them from the mating market. If enough women were willing to date down, this would be less of an issue but they don't.
The ancestral struggle for men is reproduction and feminism sends the majority of men down a Darwinian dead end and that's essentially the worst feeling a man can ever have.
Also, you are incorrect to assume that feminism fight for equality of opportunity. It seeks equality of outcomes because every statistical disparity between men and women is framed as women being discriminated against. In fact, it's worse than equality of outcome, it's straight up female supremacy because feminists only care to equalise things where women are behind. It is quite content to let inequalities run when it suits women.

I find feminism to be mysandrist by falacy and by nature.
The best example of the falacy is the discussion on abortion rights. Men are A LOT more pro-choice than women, basad on the simple premise of "it was told to me that women really need this.
Yet, inside feminist circles this has been completely mede to be a gender wars issue "men want to control your body".
Well, it very much happens that men do not want to control your body.
Now, by nature. The talk of patriarchy came into such a level that even a man's right to freely associate with another man is comming it question?
Feminists actually believe that men oppress them by occupying space(remember manspreading), by talking, by working. They believe that men have too many rights.
      This is literally genocidal language.
By A plus B, feminism is mysandry
