Thanks for making this video. I followed all the steps mentioned in this video and one more important step of checking with another USB cable. Problem is solved now and I am able to select the Port and upload sketch to Arduino board.

@@akpiot I have nodemcu 1.0(ESP-12E Module). Can you tell me which breadboard I should use for it? Cause it is not perfectly fitting with the ordinary breadboard that I have. I think the pinholes are too narrow in my breadboard.
That's a problem with new node mcu
You have to check..I have an old nodemcu properly fitted with normal boards

After successful detection of the device if it is showing driver missing, then we have to update that, it may be from any path( where the driver pre-downloaded).

Everyone if after installing drivers the port options is greyed out it is because the USB U R USING DOESN'T SUPPORT DATA TRANSFER BUT ONLY CHARGE

I have followed all the steps but the port is still now showing, I went to device manager, update drive and chose the folder where I installed the driver but a message appeared windows was unable to install your USB Serial, however when I chose the option of let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer I have found in ports the silicon driver which I've installed , I tried to choose it but a message popped up that it is not recommended because windows is not sure if this is a compatible driver and my computer may become unstable or stop working, so I didn't go for that option, also I changed the cable but still the same problem, Any suggestions please ?

Download the CP210x Windows Drivers from the url given then extract and follow the process .Hope problem will be solved..

Please, I recently purchased ESP8266. Unfortunately the device driver could not install automatically with my version of window 7. After several attempts, I managed to install the drive from sparkfun. I have installed the esp8266 in my Arduino ide library. The problem now is I am unable to upload a simple code inside the node MCU device. I always get error, "port can't be opened, access denied". If I manage to open serial monitor on code view, I get the following error "port 4 busy" what do I do please?
Under my computer device manager, esp8266 is installed as port 4.
First identify the ports which port belongs to 4 .. reconnect the nodemcu with the port & also restart Arduino ide.. hope it will help

@@akpiot Only com 4. That is the only com port available when I plug in the device. But the strange thing I notice if I change the device to another usb port it will change to a different com port like com 17! But at a time, it is only one com port available.
Select the com port that is available at that moment..and continue..if unsolved then reinstallation may solve the issue

i have windows 10 and i was trying to install drivers from the above link but there is no exe file in the downloaded file, any idea how to solve this problem?

I am using mega 2560 with python using pyfirmata
Since i made communication with my program i was using it through its port no ttyACM0 ( i can see it by its ide installed in my pc) with board selected as Arduino mega 2560 nd all was working fine
But from last two days suddenly and automatically it changes its port no continuosly
Means lets say currently the Port no is ttyACM0...
Now if i do power on and off then i try to connect it then it shows errror in communication
Then if i check it then it showing that its port no is ttyACM1 now
Similarly next time ttyACM2 and so on
May i know why this is happening?
Any idea?
if multiple devices are connected through usb then remove other connections & use the arduino port only.. else installing arduino ide & uart driver may fix the problem..

..In device manager port will be visible..Replace the usb cable & check again..

You need to find out the correct com port after connecting to usb port.. com port numbers also change try to find out the exact com port number ....

Have you installed the driver mentioned in the description box..may be some windows updates are behind the problem.. Update your system to the on latest windows update..It will work..I also faced the same problem in one of device with win10 OS but with latest updates problem solved..

If nothing is working wait for the windows update.. one thing you can try use Linux OS or in virtual box use windows 7 ..

Which OS do you have ??
@@Aaron Rhodes after connecting your nodemcu via usb cable go to device manager (Windows Control Panel) then click on Ports here you will have unidentified port if driver is not proper otherwise it will display Silicon Labs CP201x USB to UART .
if there is undignified port then right click on that and choose the option update driver then go the folder where you have driver downloaded from the internet.
Hope this will solve your problem.
