Bandai make another line of mecha kits that aren't based on any existing property called 30 Minutes Missions that are designed to be more customisable (with a lot of optional part packs available) and more overly intended to be painted. (They're still made of coloured plastic but there are a lot more areas of solid colour) If you're looking for a Gunpla-adjacent project for the channel they might be worth investigating.

Tiny parts do have a considerable projectile banishment risk! So let's learn how to avoid that:.. you just... cut the runner. The energy that launches the tiny parts come from tension in the runner when displacing plastics, so you just cut the actual runner up around the piece before cutting out the piece so there isn't any tension.

Since everyone else is dropping gunpla tips, I’ll do a quick loredump. The Zeta Gundam is the first operational prototype of the Zeta series created by Anaheim Electronics, a corporation known to provide support to more than one side of a given conflict in order to ensure they retain multiple return customers and that their wartime economic boom doesn’t fissle out too fast.
The Zeta was the first Gundam unit created independant of the RX-78 series, the original Gundam and it’s design philosophy. The unit was delivered to the AEUG (Anti Earth-Union Government), a faction formed to combat the aggressive policies of the Earth Federation and their new independant military division known as the Titans which formed after the conclusion of the One Year War. The Titans were initially formed to combat insurgencies and pockets of resistance remaining of the Zeon forces of the prior war, but they far overstepped that paramter and even went as far as to gas an entire space colony on suspicion of Zeon activity. This is of course kept under a gag order, so the general populace believe the Titans act in their best interest.
Prior to recieving the Zeta, the AEUG would employ mostly remnant mobile suit units from the war days as well as a number of Rick Diaz units - mass produced suits that technically would be categorized as Gundams. On top of this, the conflict as we see it opens up on an operation in which the group steals two prototype Gundam Mk. II units from the Titans own R&D facility, while at the same time picking up Kamille Bidan who will serveas the series main protagonist.
The AEUG, with their advanced mobile suits and gifted pilots, fight a guerilla war against a numerically superior foe who repeatedly spin the media to their favour, framing the AEUG as terrorists.
The Zeta design would evolve into the Double Zeta, Hyaku-Shiki, Delta Gundam, Re-GZ and numerous subunits in the following timeline.
That will be all, sieg Zeon!
P.S, when’s the next gunpla video?

Honestly the gunpla fandom, for as vocal and passionate as it is. It’s not really talked about a lot on TH-cam. So to see anyone cover gunpla in any comedically enraged passion is more than welcome. Just so long as newer people get introduced to the hobby.
Also, to share my nuggets of gunpla wisdom with you. When it comes to prices of kits, its price narrows down to how much plastic is used in the model. For instant a master grade and a full mechanics gundam are around the same scale and sculpt detail.
But full mechanics are closer to high grades in terms of complexity. So a good rule of thumb is that (for the most part). A kits price point doesn’t dictate how complex it may be.

I used to be in the “Gunpla is like adult Lego” camp, and never really believed in painting them. This quickly changed when I discovered how good some kits look with a metallic finish. Started with just painting the yellow parts on my Barbatos kits gold, and somehow spiraled into painting the entity of the red plastic with a metallic red finish on an HG Astray Red Dragon. Painting with Gundam Markers is weirdly fun even for my clumsy ass.

The water transfers are a pain at first, I know when I first started I had a lot of trouble with them, but once you get the technique down and understand, most importantly, how to reposition them without destroying them, it becomes super easy. One of the things I love about gunpla is just how precise the parts are. Like, I remember growing up as a kid I would build model airplane kits and oftentimes the parts would be warped in the box and you'd have to glue everything together and it ended up being an absolute mess of seam lines and everything. With gunpla, though, everything always fits together like a dream. Why would I pay $20 for a Revell model that I'm going to have to glue and sand and paint just to end up with something that looks decent when I can spend $20 to sit down and enjoy snapping together a gunpla with nothing but a glass file and a pair of nippers? Especially when that gunpla will be mostly color accurate off the bat and fully articulated for posing. And if I *want* to do a repaint or custom work I totally can, but it's not required to enjoy the experience.

the main reason why the runners are labeled the way they are and why some separate into multiple sections is so that Bandai can take parts from these kits and use them in other kits in a seamless way. the inner frame as an example is going to be used in many kits going forward but they aren't going to need the frame parts that you directly attach the outer armor panels too since whatever new kit the frame would be used in will have different outer armor that won't be able to connect in the same way.

Perfect grades aren’t any harder than anything else. Just more parts.

  • @kydigadig
    @kydigadig 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

The thing about Bandais own water decals. Is that they just suck. They take a while to start working, and they take a while to actually settle and glue on the plastic. They are just not good.
This is where 3rd party decals come in. Delpi, G-Reworks, and SMP. Are the best 3rd party decals around. They are high quality, easier to work with, and work much much faster than bandais. And they actually stick.
It may seem overwhelming. But I promise you, the payoff will be well worth it. And your gunpla will look much nicer and fancier. Just remember to use a mark setter, to help them glue better. And a mark softer, to help them blend into the plastic.

Personal opinion is that everyone in Warhammer should try at least one Entry Grade or High Grade kit. Of everyone did that, then for the price of 25-50% of an Intersessors box per person we could all collectively raise our expectations towards GWs pricing scheme 😅
On a more serious note, Gunpla is freedom. I'm glad you're enjoying the hobby in your own time and way, and look forward to all of the future content you make.

If you want another master grade kit, i recommend you should check out the Gundam seed line, they have great possibility, great designs, fun to build, and the accessories are nice. You should get the Aile Strike or the Strike rouge as a safe bet, even though they're the same but with different colors, both have cool accessories, so you can pick which one you like most.

there are several types of decals, Stickers witch are common in HG kits all the way into PG sometimes (but not often) and are denoted by the silver sheet , decal stickers are most common in RG kits and are on a clear sheet with a white backing these you can peel off and place and then there are transfers in both dry(cut out, place and rubb/scratch on) and water types (cut out and do 40ktransfurtreetment) , if you ever get a kit with ANY coating and dry transfers DO NOT even attempt to rubb them on as this will damage the coating no matter how carefull you try not to.

I just finished the zeta gundam ver ka recently with the water transfers and I agree that I had issues with small parts. The one I had trouble with was the yellow pieces for the vents on the shoulder armor. They just don't sit securely until you overlay the blue armor over it and had it just pop off into the void that is the carpet. I was fortunate to find the part quickly for the first three vents, but the third I couldn't find it until the next day. It put me off on continuing when that happened and tried getting a quote for just that small piece. Fortunately I was able to find it and complete it and I really like how it looks. I added photo etch parts and some metal thrusters to it and it will look nice next to my forever transformed rg zeta gundam.

waterslides get easier the more you do them. Still slow, but i was able to do all the ones on the FAZZ in about 3 days. The hard part about them is making sure they actually stick. Some of them are so small they dont have much surface to bind too, and flak off very easily. Def invest in Mark softer if you haven't already, and a nice top coat to prevent direct contact with fingiez.

      1. It's cheaper.
      2. It's way smaller and still packs the same punch while not destroying my shelf.

5:00 was my exact experience building the MG Astray Red Frame Kai-- a great kit, mind you-- but there are a pair of small plastic brackets (a longer bar and a small cap on the other end) you put into the back of the lower legs to secure the knee joint in place and the small red cap I was trying to fit into the slot ended up flinging into my kitchen never to be seen again. The piece isn't necessary for the stability of the kit, nor is visible with the outer armor on, but the knowledge that my kit is technically incomplete still bugs me to this very day.

Suggestion: do one of the *original* 1:144 scale kits from 1980. They are *ancient* in terms of construction, sculpt, fit, and finish. You will be in utter agony and pain, *but* you will also be sitting atop a throne of blood and desolation as a *god* if you complete it.
And also they’re very cheap. You can buy a reprint of an older kit for pennies on the dollar depending on what it is. You can skip all the painting of it isn’t your fancy and just glue (no snap-fit in 1980) them together and see what you end up with.

If you wanted to try some actual Gundam fiction, I'd recommend "The 08th MS Team" OVA series. Yes, there are some nuances that you'll miss out on by not seeing the original 1979 series, but I think it has the best all around balance of military mecha action, animation, and story telling, wrapped up in the style of a classic war movie, without losing the anti-war message at the heart of the franchise.
Or you could jump off the deep end with G Gundam; Alternate Universe series where Martial Arts is a super power and Neo America has a boxing, surfing, football player gundam.

I have built 2 MG Ver Ka, Unicorn FA and Banshee, while the decals can be overwhelming you don't necessarily have to apply all, just put the ones on that you think looks really good or dont, the kits already looks good without decals and kits themselves aren't really bad. If you want to build another MG I recommend Barbatos or Wing Zero Ver Ka.
Fun Fact the reason that some of your parts or nubs turn into a projectile is because of the double Blade nippers, it actually bends the plastic to it's breaking point before snipping so all the energy from being bent is released when snipped hence the projectile, to avoid this, use a single Blade nipper, it's expensive for some reason and the Blade is really thin but because of the sharpness of the Blade it's acurally cutting off the plastic leaving a cleaner cut and avoiding possible eye damage when a projectile comes. 😂

There are weird thnigs about that i feel only when you on own the kit that you will realise.
