I’m kitbashing Skaven Imperial guard I call them the “Nimh 1st and only” and have written some extensive lore for them already. They’re age of sigmar Skaven that made a gnaw hole too far from home and are now stranded. They are a fractured fleet-based regiment that feeds off the inconsistencies in Imperial red tape, taking the place of regiments lost in the warp whenever possible and sneaking onto and off of ships at every opportunity. They’re everywhere, but not at all important. They were probably on cadia at some point and let it be known, they definitely broke well before the planet did.

I really like the idea of really stealthy units getting up close silently, then when the enemy least expects it, lets off a giant fireworks show on one side of the base and simultaneously a heavy metal concert starts on the other side. Then while the enemy is looking back and forth trying to figure out what is going on, the shadows themselves start screaming and jump out at you with lightning claws trailing streamers. Absolutely madness, but if they left any survivors those poor sods would be so freaking paranoid.

Some ideas for the screaming ravens: How about honing in on the ambush part of guerilla tactics? Make them have a propensity for using drop pods and teleporting terminators on the battlefield? You can also tie the bulky and council parts of the chapter together with dreadnoughts, maybe alot of their old chapter masters are still around in dreadnoughts so while they might not be fit to lead anymore they could still be an invaluable council to the current chapter master. Might be worth looking into the space sharks chapter for some ideas as they have a giant chapter master are raven guard successors and ambush enemies in the void of space.

I'm thinking alot of deception and decapitation strikes, taking out enemy leadership very suddenly and unexpectedly. Maybe even have a special company within the chapter that disguises themselves as members of a different chapter to draw out the enemy without revealing what chapter they're actually fighting

bounced a chanper idea with gpt and ended up with this, kinda wanted a traditional nomad group that focuses on sand
    Chapter Name: The Void Sands
    Key Traits:
    Nomadic Space Marine Chapter
    Mastery of Psychic Powers
    Precision Shock Assaults
Color Scheme: Deep blue, silver, and desert sand tones, reflecting the colors of the night sky and the shifting desert sands.
Insignia: A swirling sandstorm in deep blue and silver, resembling a crescent moon, reflecting their nomadic and mystic nature.
    Chapter Relics:
The Sands of Eternity: Creates a psychic barrier.
    The Veilshroud Cloak: Grants invisibility.
The Hourglass of Fate: Offers glimpses into the future.
The Sandstorm Blade: Enhances cutting power and armor penetration.
The Mirage Gauntlets: Amplify psychic abilities and control over the environment.
    Chapter Organization:
Clans are semi-autonomous and led by Sandshapers.
    Five main clans:
Clan of the Shifting Sands: Front-line troops.
Clan of the Whispers: Skilled psykers.
Clan of the Mirage: Elite reconnaissance.
Clan of the Desert Wind: Fleet management.
Clan of the Celestial Dunes: Leadership and strategic decision-making.
    Combat Doctrine:
Precision shock assaults with psychic disorientation.
Swift and agile fleet for rapid deployment.
Adaptability in battle conditions and quick tactical shifts.
Unique combat practices include sand transmutation, psychic sandstorms, Sandshaper assassins, desert rites, and psychic mirage tactics.
Recruitment: Potential recruits are chosen from nomadic and isolated human populations encountered during their travels. Candidates must possess resilience, resourcefulness, and adaptability. Training is grueling and focuses on survival skills, adaptability, and the ability to operate independently.
Fleet: The Wanderers maintain a diverse and agile fleet, often modified for stealth and rapid deployment. Each Sandshaper clan commands a vessel, and the fleet's mobility is their strength.
Relations: The chapter is enigmatic and prefers independence. They have few formal alliances, with a reputation for their unique combat tactics.
    History:
The Void Sands' origins are shrouded in mystery, but they were created during a time of galactic turmoil and strife. Their gene-seed was carefully selected to enhance psychic potential and resilience. Over centuries, they honed their unique powers and combat doctrines, perfecting their ability to transmute into sand and reform at will.
Primary Ship: The "Nomadic Wind" is the chapter's flagship, designed for stealth and rapid deployment. It serves as their mobile base of operations, housing leaders, including the Clan of the Celestial Dunes, who make strategic decisions using the Hourglass of Fate.
Motto: "In Sands We Transform, In Unity We Prevail."
The Void Sands' unique practices, including their nomadic lifestyle, desert rituals, starry contemplation, psychic training, sand artistry, and harsh desert survival, reflect their reverence for the desert and the cosmic forces. These rituals and traditions contribute to their enigmatic and mystic way of life, making The Void Sands a chapter deeply connected to the mysteries of the universe.

As someone whose entry into 10th edition was Chaos Space Marines, I've certainly thought about using the conceit that my army should only feature Chaos Spawn, Possessed and a Daemon Prince-- basically a force that's either ascended to daemonhood, fused to daemons or "tried and failed to reach that brass ring." Mainly because I've never found 'plain vanilla Space Marines' exciting to think about painting. Fond memories of when armies were smaller and there was lots of wide open space in "the lore" for Just Your Dudes, who were canonical!

Organizationally speaking, Tsons have 9 Cults each of which are subdivided into 9 Sects, with each of those being further subdivided into an unknown number of Thrallbands. A Thrallband is basically a group comprised of one head Sorcerer plus 9 of his Sorcerer cronies of various differing ranks(anything from Aspiring Sorcerers to other Sorcerers/Exalted Sorcerers). So the word you're looking for is either Sect or Thrallband, depending on how high up the sorcerous totem-pole/how numerous your own Tsons group is. 💁‍♂I'm playing a Sect of the Cult of Mutation called the World Warpers myself. Here's some ideas to help.
Theyre from the 21st Founding aka the Cursed Founding.
They have a relatively stable mutation in their gene-seed that cause their voices to be incredibly loud. Loud enough to deafen mortal men or even give a space marine a headache.
Their chapter thralls are all deaf so as if the need arose for a Screaming Raven to speak they would not harm their own servants.
In combat they have modulators in their helmets to reduce the volume to those outside, however when attacking their enemies the modilators are turned off and blood curdling screams echo across the battlefield.
Outside of combat the Screaming Ravens use their voices for one purpose, to sing. They will climb atop the ramparts of their outpost monasteries and sing their piercing fortissimo across the desolate plains. The only other times they sing are when a Captain falls, their funeral dirge loud enough to herald the Emperor's guidance for his soul.

I really like your chapter idea. I have been using ChatGPT to write lore for me for a few months now and with the right prompts it does a really good job, but it does really like to throw chaos in for no reason. Currently I'm working on a chapter of "raven guard successors" that are themed after druids and celtic mythology. They have a tree they believe is sacred and will help save the Imperium that they're trying to clone and plant around the galaxy. They're gimmick though is that they're secretly Dark Angels successors because I couldn't decide between RG and DA. In-universe, even though they all look like DA and every time they send in they're geneseed tithe it tests and comes back as DA, they're all so utterly convinced they're RG successors they just believe the administratum made a clerical error millennia ago and refuses to fix it. Naturally they're pretty upset by that. They just decided they're Raven Guard and no one can convince them otherwise even though none of them are pale and almost none of them have black hair.

I made my own homebrew Warhammer 40k space marine chapter called The Forged and they are obsessed with fire and metal and their ranks correspond with the type of metal their armour is made out of, like for example if you are a grunt, you would wear bronze armour and it goes up until the leader dubbed Chromus Prime, wears a suit made of out pure chrome and there's a great myth about the armour, where its wearer doesn't just wear the armour but he becomes the armour and that the suit has regenerative capacities because every time Chromus Prime fights battles, no matter how deadly the enemy is, his armour always comes out as pristine as ever and when a member becomes the leader, they are not called by their real name, their name is replaced with Chromus Prime, with the words "You are not (insert grimdark name here), you are Chromus Prime."
I don't know how The Forged fit within the universe, lmao but either way I think I made the rawest, space marine chapter ever.

I loved designing my Raven guard successor chapter. called the Silent Rooks. They are a fleet base chapter that specializes in slow marching line letting their vehicles and troops with breacher shields. Take up most of the damage while the stealthy units sneak up behind enemy lines taking out high value targets or taking and holding adjectives. I haven't done much work on their paint style yet but I like to think they have a dirty smokey gray armor. Has they Track through no man's land getting ash and dust cover all over their armor.

I think AI’s best use in creative fields is as a spring board.
Think of it like a way to get _something_ on the page, so to speak, and then use your human creativity to actually _make_ something yourself.
I’ll sometimes run a prompt of a character’s name, class, species, and maybe some personality traits into an image generating AI, then use that to make my mini in hero forge or once even commissioned an artist using that as the basis for their mood board (along with some other samples).

The Adeptus capitalis is my homebrew admech faction. Essentially admech units that discoverer the wonders of Capitalism. They strive to think outside the box combining broken vehicles to make haphazard vehicles. And their goal is to become another cog in the machine. The whole idea came to me when I was trying to name a lot bashed model and ask Reddit for help. The end result was the Orbeus seven barreled death orb. Or the Orb for short.

Considering that Primaris are known for having a little bit of cheeky traitor Geneseed mixed in, it does make a lot of sense for a primaris ravenguard successor to be made up of not only ravenguard but also some traitor Geneseed like Night Lords or Alpha Legion. It very much fits with the silly yet horrifying stealth chapter.

Thanks ti this video you give me the idea of doing the same for my own Space Marine chapter, this were the results:
    **Chapter Name:** Deceptive Flames
**Chapter Symbol:** A stylized black flame intertwined with a silver serpent.
**Chapter Colors:** Obsidian Black with Silver accents.
The Deceptive Flames chapter was founded as a clandestine successor of the Alpha Legion, dedicated to carrying on their enigmatic and manipulative traditions. They emerged during the tumultuous times of the 41st millennium, but they adopted a unique twist inspired by the Salamanders.
While officially linked to the Alpha Legion's gene-seed, the Deceptive Flames have genetically modified themselves to enhance their connection with fire-based abilities. This modification allows them to harness and control flame-based weaponry with exceptional precision.
The Deceptive Flames have mastered the art of deception, but they've also incorporated the Salamanders' affinity for flame weaponry into their arsenal. They employ flame-throwers, melta weapons, and pyroclast-based artillery with deadly accuracy. These weapons serve to sow chaos and confusion, mirroring the fires of change and transformation they embrace.
The chapter holds a unique belief that fire is both a symbol of destruction and rebirth. They see it as a force of change, mirroring their Alpha Legion heritage. To them, the fire represents the ever-shifting nature of warfare and the galaxy itself.
The Deceptive Flames' hidden fortress-monastery, the "Serpent's Forge," is located on a volcanic world. The planet's fiery landscape reflects their affinity for flame-based weaponry. Here, they craft and maintain their specialized equipment and train in the art of fire warfare.
    **Notable Characters:**
    - Chapter Master Vaelon Shadowcoil: A master of espionage and a strategic genius, he also wields a relic combi-flamer with devastating effectiveness.
    - Pyroclast Veteran Captain Draegon Emberforge: A charismatic leader known for leading his brethren into the heart of the firestorm, his custom terminator armor is equipped with a built-in heavy flamer.
    **Chapter Relations:**
The Deceptive Flames maintain complex relationships within the Imperium, often surprising other Space Marine chapters with their unconventional methods. While some view them with suspicion due to their Alpha Legion lineage, they've found common ground with the Salamanders and other flame-wielding chapters.
    **Notable Campaigns:**
    - "The Scorched Deception": In this campaign, the Deceptive Flames utilized their flame weapons to sow confusion among enemy forces, making them believe that they were facing a Salamanders task force. The resulting chaos played into their strategy, allowing them to achieve a decisive victory.
    - "The Forge's Fury": A campaign that saw the chapter defending their volcanic homeworld against a massive Ork invasion. The Deceptive Flames turned the molten landscape into a weapon of their own, using it to incinerate the invaders.

this was fun, i love headcanons and i like the whimsical ravens :D but seriously the ai did form a pretty great and very very unique chapter. i can definately see them being very confusing not just to enemies but to other space marines and not invited to their meetings :D
My custom chapter is in the makings, theyre called the Moonbreakers, it also started from the models or rather my painting idea, i only just got into 40k with the new starter box (and im not planning on expanding to much on it, im fine with a combat patrol size force and then maybe collecting a few different armies in that size, tyranids are already in there, so they are my Hive Fleet Gilgamesch). I want them to look a little bit like classic nowadays moon space suits. I think they will be a succesor chaptor of the Imperial Fists and conentrate on "cleanup" - so they visit all the smaller worlds (or moons, i was thinking about them purging endor from the ewoks here..) and clean up incursions, xenos invasions, genestealer hide outs and the like, that could hide away from the cleansing of the big battles on the main planet. They should be a rather humble chapter with their main rivals being tyranids and genestealers, i imagine them like pest control on the moon, breaking up "nests" of xenos while having very little contact to other humans and becoming very isolated and weird. Like they speak so much in their own terminology they find it hard to communicate with other chapters. idk, im not too deep into 40k lore as well, i just think its fun and it fits my colour scheme too.

The one thing I learned making 40k lore is "don't define your faction by what they exclude." You'll get bored making/playing the same kinds of units, and rules changes will be disappointing. It's more fun to reinterpret disparate units to fit in your theme. My AdMech occupy a Knight world which has mega-fauna. So in addition to my giant robots I have dino-riders. My elite infantry are techno-barbarians, more Space-Marine-sized than the spindly GW models (based on the skitarii in the novel Titanicus, using Warhammer Fantasy Blood Warriors). I take the GW sculpts I like, and heavily convert the rest until I'm excited to use them.
Lore wise, the Imperial Navy abandoned Forgeworld Psalimit in the face of an ork Waaagh!. This caused a schism, as the Imperial governor and many Knight houses and Mechanicus forges fell to Chaos in a bid to survive. The loyalists nuked the planet and spent several generations underground. They developed an insular, fanatic culture: lots of test-tube babies, gene-manipulation, and "voluntary" servitors. They use the orks in the rad waste for training, and send expedition fleets to harvest material to sustain the dead world.

The Tange Marines are a chapter of Space Marines based on the planet Tange. Their armour is bright orange, a consequence of it being made from a variant of ceramite known as tangeramite. The Tange Marines believe themselves to have originated as the XXII legion, a clandestine project started during the Great Crusade to create a legion not dependent on a Primarch for genetic stability, though few from outside of the chapter believe them. Never having known a Primarch some in the chapter tell tales of how a Primarch will one day come to them and lead them in the greatest victories ever known to the Imperium.
The culture of Tange, and of Okie, the city built around the chapter's fortress monastery influences the culture of the chapter, which incorporates a form of collective decision making known as Zaireeka throughout its ranks. In addition the final trial faced by Tange Marine aspirants before becoming full space marines involves slaying one of the great burrowing creatures that infest the largest feature on the planet Tange, the great Worm Mountain.
The Tange Marines are close allies of a small order of Sisters of Battle known as the Order of Saint Yoshimi. Together they often crusade against the Necrons of the Pynkh Dynasty, who have been awakening and threatening the Imperial worlds of the local sector.

    Hey Paul, I love the Screaming Ravens and would love to talk about mine;
The IRON HOUNDS, using the name of a dead chapter they come from the cursed founding. They're from a mixed geneseed of Iron Warriors and Iron Hands, but due to their size, they specialize in tasks not usually meant for marines. The Iron Hounds are fleet based and work in the prison system of the Imperium, acting as guards and wardens in ships turned into prisons/munitions factories. They wear older armor patterns stretching far back to the great crusade with prison inmate orange with hazard stripes preferring close quarters swat style combat as a tactic to quell ship sized rebellions and riots. They also mix with adeptus Arbites and use a lot of police dogs.
They span the galaxy in their prison ships but are more built for kill teams than full armies, usually using inmates as guard regiments and servitors and finding their own initiates behind bars. Things like chaplains and chapter masters are called wardens and act as such using the prisons to make guns and guardsmen to send as aid to other planets but with independence Iron Hounds can turn traitor or renegade and so the Iron Hounds wildly vary in loyalties. They offer to chapters like the Space Sharks and Iron Hands as much as they do with Night Lords and Iron Warriors but their main problem is mostly Genestealer infestations and chaos infused riots like World Eaters intentionally getting incarcerated to create Khornate cult gangs.
They hilariously get in trouble with Ultramarines when it comes to their management and have been known to even carry certain xenos as prisoners with a surprisingly large Dark Eldar population.
The only real character I have is more of a pattern for dreadnoughts that have an arm that's a long club like the japanese kanabo, so they can technically still use a baton like the marines.
The motto is "canis canem edit," meaning "dog eat dog"
My dream would be playing Kill Team on a big space prison themed table with literal cell blocks I can stack like Legos and torture rooms and stuff mixed with that amazing gallow dark box.

I LOVE YOUR VIDS. I find your voice and humor super chill and relaxing. Here’s my lore for my Sisters of battle sub faction, I’m new to warhammer so I’m just tryna be as non offensive to the canon as possible but I think I made it work. The Order of the Iron Iris
    Patron Saint: Reverend Mother Ishani
    Order Canoness: Saint Alyce
    Order Home World: Terminus Solitaris
Order lineage: The Order of the Valorous Heart
Heraldry: A purple Iris replacing the heart of the Order of the Valorous heart symbol.
Battle cry: “Make the armour of thy foe like unto smoke, so that we may sunder the unholy flesh beyond!”
The Adepta Sororita’s have fought on many raging frontiers and have faced countless foes. In the genesis of the 4th Tyrannic war, the Ecclesiarchy realized a need for a force adept in slaying the unholy xeno; thus, The Order of the Iron Iris was formed.
Following the example of their patron saint Reverend Mother Ishani-who hailed from the order of the argent shroud before serving in the valorous heart-the order adopted behaviors from both orders. Similar to The Order of the Valorous Heart, the Order of the Iron Iris radiates the same fervent joy and sanctity that comes, with the constant reminder that pain is the Emperor’s best teacher and the Orders most sacred ally. This is done all while sieging the Imperiums most misbegotten foes, purging the very crust of the planet that would dare to host the filthy xenos, all while sharing the same stoicism of the order of the argent shroud similarly believing deeds are greater than words.
Hailing from the planet Terminus Solitaris where Reverend Mother Ishani’s martyrdom saved the entire sector from the unholy gaping maw of the Tyrannic xenos.
The planet is dedicated to the great faith of the emperor and honoring the great sacrifice of the Iron Iris’ patron saint. The highest symbol of honor within the planet is the vibrant purple irises that grow on the highest peaks of the planet’s poles. Only the most fervent and holy take the pilgrimage to retrieve these flowers, and every sister within the Iron Iris must retrieve these flowers in order to be officially welcomed to the order.
But none of this is better than the techno anthem pump up the jam

So I began working on the lore afterwards, just for fun. They come from a planet that's barely above freezing *on the equator* and they live on the south pole. It's their homeworld because they were raised to fight the the Necrons awakening on a tomb world there, and were allowed to stay and claim it once they did. They actually have battle brothers show up during "Liberation Day" festivities. The have all white armor and have white caplets that they wear over their heraldry to make them hard to spot in arctic environments. They use a combination of range and stealth tactic, and have 20 companies of five squads each and have fewer tactical and more devastator Marines than the codex suggests

I always wanted to make a gladiator/wrestling themed Chapter. They're all about boosting the morale of their allies by just aiming at the meanest biggest thing and make a show out of their fight. They have rivalries inside of the Chapter regulated by their leaders, which always motivates them to be better and stronger, and also to make a good enough show.
They used really unorthodox weaponry, like plasma nets or chainsaw tridents. I didn't think of a colour scheme yet, but I like to think each "captain" has his own title and custom armour.

I have been working on my own successor chapter called The Emerald Knights for about 6 months. They're a chapter from a planet very much like Ireland and they were originally from the Dark Angels. Their Chapter Master made the mistake of being critical of The Lion for destroying Caliban and not finding a peaceful solution, so they exiled the whole chapter to the very edge of the galaxy. No support, no resupply, nothing. For ten thousand years. At the end of the scouring, tons of traitor warbands showed up in their territory. They fought a long siege with the Iron Warriors that was so draining that their geneseed degraded from copying it over and over. Eventually they couldn't replenish their ranks, so they had a choice to make: become extinct, or splice The Lion's geneseed with that of Perturabo's that was harvested from the enemy. So they did the latter and they fought on, defeating the Warsmith. But in a sense, they merged with them, utilizing their supplies and equipment thereafter.
The traitors just kept coming, seeing their sector as the perfect place to hide. The Knights sent out an astropathic message, calling for aid to hunt down these wanted warbands. The Dark Angels didn't hear the word "Fallen" in their message, so their pleas were ignored. The Knights burned out their last astropath, pleading for anyone to come to their sector to help them. They were finally answered by a Black Templars crusade fleet.
The Marshall stared deeply into the eyes of their chapter master, asking him if he believed in the divinity of The Emperor, asking if they would serve him unto death, and seeing not deceit in his eyes, but pain and longing to show their dedication, their wroth; the Black Templars accepted the Emerald Knights into their crusade as battle brothers. And over the next few decades, they purged the sector of traitors, and the Knights adopted the Templars cross as their symbol, albeit painted green to symbolize the Shamrocks that adorned their beautiful planet.
I've got way more lore, but you get the basics. The Chapter Master of today is converted to resemble Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, modern hero of Ireland, and I can run the army as either Templars or Dark Angels. They wear gun metal armor with lime green shoulder pads and Emerald green cloaks. Their geneseed is their dark secret. They told The Lion and he accepted them, because he is still grateful for the heroism of Barabas Dantioch, who proved that a descendant of Perturabo can still be a hero to The Imperium.
I love the Screaming Ravens, by the way. And the idea of using GPT to drum up ideas is one of the most interesting TH-cam videos I've seen in a long time. Thanks for posting it and best of luck. I love the idea of adding fear and deception into the Raven Guard. It's very good and has the makings of a serious project if you wanted it.

  • @ThePigeon5734
    @ThePigeon5734 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

ok well you asked for my ideas... Any judgement is welcome, I started coming up with this VERY recently.
    The Archevite Crusade -
A minor group of Black Templars dedicated to fighting xenos, particularly the T'au, in unmapped sections of the galaxy.
They have developed several new cultural aspects, such as a focus on taking trophies from Enemies.
A neophyte can only graduate to become an initiate by killing a t'au in melee combat. Following this, the crusade's chaplain will stake the stripped skull of the tau to the initiate's backpack while they recite the Litanies of Hate.
The members of the Archevite crusade have an increased focus on individuality beyond even that of the regular Black Templars, and many do not even conform to the ranking standards of the Templars, with sword Brethren and veterans free to paint their shoulder pads trim in any colour bar a few.
They also have little patience for the Mechanicus' nonsense, and a popular saying among the crusade's members is "It's probably safe to blame the Adeptus Mechanicus."
    Notable Members -
A terminator wearing armour similar in the skeleton-inspired design to a chaplain, with the ribcage and helmet painted silver. He killed a Necron leader in one-on-one combat, and as a final insult carved their chassis into his own armour.
Brother Archeos is an Ex-Deathwatch Intercessor. Having crossed the Rubicorn Primaris some time ago, he opted to keep his Deathwatch Pauldron and firstborn helmet as a reminder of how far he's come. He has often denied being promoted to Sergeant or Sword Brethren, stating that his continued service to the Emperor is reward enough.
The crusade's Techmarine has long since turned from the ways of the Mechanicus, since the rituals are a waste of time in which he could be repairing his brother's weapons and armour. His personal project is the entombment of Brother [name undecided] in an... unconventional type of dreadnought, a task he undertakes with the help of the Apothecary. He is a cold calculated individual, who often sees his brothers as little more than numbers.
Brother [name undecided, the same one mentioned previously] was a veteran of the Horus Heresy, and followed Sigismund when he created the Black Templars. He eventually became part of the Archevite Crusade, until he was mortally wounded and agreed to be placed in a Dreadnought. Little did he know the dreadnought his brothers had in mind was a salvaged imperial knight from a recently reclaimed world, kept secret from all those outside the crusade. The Techmarine and Apothecary, unable to repair the cockpit, instead replaced much of the machinery with parts from an older dreadnought, and who better to bear such an honour in driving it as such an experienced marine. He views his entombment as necessary, but also wonders if his continued existence is some kind of heresy.
The crusade's apothecary is a compassionate and thoughtful man, whose love for his brothers is matched only by his hatred for the enemies of the Emperor (and his faith in the Emperor himself.) He is often at odds with the techmarine, and the two are often found debating morality and the sacrifices of their fallen brothers.

The idea of giving your enemies complete sensory overload and then confusing them once the firing starts by making a bolter sound like a plasma shot for the 2-3 guys that recover first is kinda cool.

One of my favorate homebrew chapters is the Stone Knights a dark angel successor chapter with a gene seed mutation that is both a blessing and a curse.
Their mutation forces them to sleep for long periods of times that increase with their age (recruits for a few day, standard troops for weeks to months, and veterans for years at a time). while at first the chapter struggle because of this they eventually learned to use it by having their marine learn to master their dreams and use the time to reflect and learn on their past and plan for the future, as well as training their chaplins and libraians have special training to help their sleeping brothers.
chaplins learn to remains wake at almost all times by blink in and out of sleep, while their librains learn to use their power to connect and enter their brothers dreams often to train sleeping recruits or to relay important information to their brothers. because of how much time they have spent mastering their own minds and being made to reflect and learn they became powerful and insiteful warriors.
the have a strong statue and arthurian knight design and their first chapter master, dispite being centuries old by now and having lived since the chapters founding is still alive (their sleep also slows aging). he his simply in a sleep so deep non of his brothers can reach him and only rises when he is needed most.

I'm currently working on a Space Wolves successor called the "Wanderers of Oski," they are a declared renegade Loyalist chapter based on the myth of Odin's exile from Asgard.
They have a grey and cobalt blue color scheme, are based around piratical and shock and awe assaults, and their chapter master is an absolute beast of an Astarte called Vafud One-eye.

I have a chapter named the Chapters of Rodos, and what I have for their lore is that they were once 3 separate chapters, one each of Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, and Salamanders successors, but joined together on the planet Rodos after each of the Chapter Masters collectively had a vision of the Emperor guiding them there and telling them to protect it at all cost. they eventually fused their gene seeds into one using forbidden tech found on the planet.
One thing worth noting is it's unclear when this all happened. there are lots of accounts of when and where things happened, but they all contradict each other, some accounts saying it happened shortly after the second founding, others saying it happened in the early 41st millennium.
I just had ChatGPT come up with lore for them for grins, and one thing I think I'll add from what it generated is that the Chapters are run by a Council of Lords, which I was already thinking was the case, but the new lore is that there are 3 Lords in the council, one from each chapter; an Iron Lord, a Stone Lord, and a Flame Lord.
My addition to this is that there is a fourth Lord that's a rank above the other three, and is the face of the council. now I just need a title for him...

A 15 year old fleet based chapter of mine, The Children of Sham: a secretive Dark Angels firstborn successor of unknown founding who specialise in stealth, surgical strikes, assassinations and exterminatus; possessing few terminators or bikes and almost no armor, they instead retain a complement of 100 sternguard and 100 vanguard veterens in lieu of their usual 1st and 2nd companies, usually deploying them via their large arsenal of drop pods, storm eagles or thunderhawks. Acid/toxic bolt rounds and rad missiles/grenades are used extensively; they used to get in a lot of trouble with the Inquisition for stealing/using chaos artefacts and with the Dark Angels for establishing friendly connections with/recruiting Fallen.
If it wasn't for the 8th company returning after getting stuck in the warp; the chapter master currently repressing the daemon that has possessed him, that one Chaplain who accidentally became a daemon prince, and a librarian growing wings while fighting a greater daemon, I'd say they were pretty normal.

I love necrons so I tried this with a homebrew necron dynasty, and they made a dynasty that is obbsed with music and art. And believe that through sound and music, they can shape reality. Led by "harmonarchs" their symbols are celestial symphonies and pictographs of stars snd galaxies. Their ultimate goal is to find the "dance of the celestial clockwork" the movements of celestial bodies are not chance, but a grand cosmic ballet snd seek to unlock the mysteries of existence." As a necron, time is meaningless so watching celestial bodies move for thousands of years just to learn how existence works sounds like such a necron thing. Thanks so much for the video!!!!

The whole "screaming in battle" seems like the exact opposite of the Carcaradons (space sharks) chapter who carry out battles in complete silence, which has its own creepiness factor.
It's quite ironic because Carcaradons are also a Raven guard successor chapter but are the opposite to the Screaming Ravens, perhaps there could be conflict between the two in a war, where they constantly argue and disagree on tactics to fight an enemy?

    • @crowe6961

I could see a bit of a rivalry forming, since they're both fleet-based chapters out at the edges of Imperial space. That said, imagine the horrors they would create if they cooperated. The Screaming Ravens could pull enemy forces totally out of position to deal with Carcharodon infiltration by picking off sentries, attacking targets of opportunity, and becoming distracting, screeching, nightmarish monsters in the night. Then they jumpscare the life out of other formations on a separate part of the front where they aren't expected and close behind the lines to cut off enemy support while their rear elements and commanding officers are silently picked off by Carcharodons, causing total collapse of both the front line and command and control elements as troops are in entirely the wrong defensive positions for the threat vectors and can be taken apart piecemeal. With a few regiments of Imperial Guard for mop-up and support, the damage that could cause to any vaguely conventional force would be incredible. They could complement each other well.

This is my Chaos Warband for anyone interested:
    The Darkstar Reavers
They are a warband of a mixed origin, taking any and all chaos space marines who share their ideals. The warband is lead by the Chaos Lord Kharan Varex Baloris, a Daemon prince of questionable origins.
The warband is a medium sized warband, with the warband being internally divided into three ‘factions.’ The first is the largest, with roughly 52% of the legion following it. They are the ones who worship chaos undivided and follow Kharan without question. The other 2 are opposed to each other. They have an equal but eternally fluctuating balance, with one side dedicating themselves to the Blood god, and the other half dedicating themselves to the Prince of Pleasure. However, they both follow Kharan, for fear of being punished due to disobedience or being deemed as weak and useless.
The warband fights with a mixture of assault and artillery doctrines, using heavy assault tactics to annihilate their enemies in a blitzkreig like assault, their enemies of choice being Orks or Black Templars. They do employ demons, but that usually comes from the Slaaneshi worshippers within the warband, or a human psyker they ‘borrowed’ from the local population.
The goal of the warband is to find the best fight possible, on the grandest scale possible. To that end they have ventured on a campaign of conquest and combat, primarily against other war bands, demons, or any and all Orks they can find.

I did this with a chapter I've been rolling around in my head because of this video. Very much helped me to flesh out ideas that were really only half baked originally. I called them the Obsidian Guard. They're imperial fist successors, and they spend most of their time protecting forge worlds that come under threat, so much so they set up their fortress monastery in the same system as a forge world. Their origins are uncertain, but it's been rumored that they were originally "ordered" by the fabricator general of that same forge world they're neighbors with some 4,000 years ago, because he called in some favors with the high lords, and also probably made a pretty serious case for how important his forge is. The AI helped me decide on some important characters and fleshing out details. Because of it, i even got the idea for some special formations that typical chapters don't have. I'm kinda excited to flesh them out more.

My warband of Thousand Sons are semi-loyalist (fighting for humanity's survival and galactic stability, not for the distorted idea of the emperor), with not only the egyptian theming turned up to the max, but also with a royal-wizard-like vibe, with beards, candles, books (mostly bits from grey knights), and a reverent outlook on the rubricae (who are treated with the same respect as dreadnoughts, and adorned in purity seals). The how-and-why of them is that they're summoned from another timeline where Ormuzd Ahriman survived instead of Ahzek, Magnus committed harder to the whiny curl-up-and-take-the-beating tactic he used at the start of Prospero's Burning, and they survived decimated but headstrong to finally join the Seige of Terra on the Imperial side. Their defense of the emperor earned them a begrudging pardon from the other chapters, making them a somehwat-trusted small chapter doing penitent crusades like the Lamenters. I think I was going to call them the Wedjati Safeguard, after the eye-of-horus (no, not that horus) symbol of protection.
