2011...Back when Vettel dominated, Hamilton made bizarre mistakes, and there were 5 different champions racing each other. Shame I missed so many races
Goes to show it’s not just the driver, engine, chassis or pit crew which makes a winning title contender - it’s a combination of everything.

I know what that felt like...and in 2013 I thought: bruh vettel winning every race is so boring, hopefully we will never again see a season being dominated by one driver...**cries in 2020**
But it wasn't as common as Merc 1- 2 is nowadays
Not as close as Mercedes this season. Webber that year literally struggle to get the most out of his car due to the change in tires and worst often had chances to win key races like Barcelona,Turkey,Spa and Silverstone yet fluffed his race starts one time too many.
They had 1-2s but nothing like the current Mercedes team
no honda pu!
Man I miss when the cars were actually competitive.
@Dani well, at least they didn't win 90% of races
I miss the cars being small and light and high pitched
@Dani actually, not true. Sure, at the beginning they were, but the last half of their dominance was very close. Seb could’ve lost 2 championships if he didn’t perform as well. These cars were incredibly close, if not some marginally better.
Competitive ? You’re joking right ? XD
2011 competitive XD
Back in the days when you could hear the sounds of F1 cars blasting by in the commentator’s headphones
better sound insulation, better microphone tech - the current engines aren't exactly quiet otherwise no one would bother wearing ear protection

@@arizona.e113 they muted engines in this video
It's like listening to a magnificent symphony building to an explosive crescendo. Bravo! Magnifico!
this was a great year in formula 1, the cars were all perfect , sounded and looked amazing and actual competitive fighting racing
2011 was not a great year at all. The sport went from being about pushing the cars and tyres to the limit on Bridgestone tyres to literally being a tyre preservation championship with Pirelli in 2011.
It basically helped slower driver's be more competitive with faster drivers just through managing tyres. Plus DRS made it easier for every driver to overtake so it literally meant that the drivers who were the best overtakers before 2011 no longer had any advantages in that area either.
@@MT-pv2rf Do you really want another Michael Schumacher situation?
Strange season. Bad title fight and only 4 teams scored podiums, and yet there were some superb races - Malaysia, China, Monaco, Canada, Britain, Hungary, Germany. In terms of great races, this season ranks only second to 2012
@@PG-20 What? Schumacher had #2 driver teammates who had to sign #2 driver contracts to drive the same cars as him, an illegal car at Benetton, tyres made specifically for him by Bridgestone at Ferrari and he did unglodly amounts of testing around Ferrari's private tracks to hone in the cars specifically to his style. Your point is completely ridiculous and, funnily enough, Schumacher struggled massively on his return to F1 when he no longer had the same preferential advantages he enjoyed in his first career.
Back to my original point though, before 2011 the fastest and most skillful drivers stood out from the crowd but 2011 changed all that and made slower, less skillful driver's more competitive.
I disagree about the looks but still the 2010 - 2012 era produced some great racing!

great we get to see hamilton winning on three wheels again!
remember when the races where actually exiting
I wouldn't describe 2011 as exciting, it was unpredictable and weird. Refuel was banned one year earlier which lost some of the excitement. Pirelli made "bad" tires on purpose with the infamous cliff to make up for that. Also the DRS system was introduced in 2011. Together it tripled the amount of overtakes in a single race but the overtakes weren't exciting to watch.
@@SocietyUnplugged but the battles were exciting, at least in this race
