Great review man, I love longer-term videos! I'm torn between this and the sage 1 maxamet. Everything points towards the sage for me, but for some reason the comp lock and customizability of the para 3 keeps drawing me in. I appreciate your positive experience of the para 3, and it may sway me towards it in the end. Thanks man.
You’re very welcome! I’ve also owned the Sage 1 prior and the Para 3 won out mainly due to the comp lock and preferred the design, look and aesthetics of it. I think overall the Sage 1 is as capable and useful as the Para 3 for everyday carry and it looks a little more friendly. can’t go wrong either way 👍🏻
@@these7seas Yeah, something about the sage screams 'plain'. I have the sage 5 and love the ergonomics and deep carry. On the spyderco forum, they unanimously recommended the sage 1 and critiqued the para 3. But... I don't feel like the sage will bring that element of fun to the table for me. Forgot to say, you have a new subscriber by the way! Loving the videos
The first knife I changed the scales on was the Benchmade Bugoug. It took me hours to finish! The second time I did it it was faster. The Para 3 was easier than the bugout. The second time I changed the scales on a Para 3 it took me a half hour. And the knife came out perfect. It gets easier the more you do it.
Just got a para 2 in maxamet and I cut into a couple apples and it started to patina like crazy! I have been looking through videos to see how bad it will rust. Honestly seems like it will help maxamet when it does patina.
Yeah I’ve used mine for many applications and while it patina quickly and intensely, I haven’t noticed any rust whatsoever given that I wipe it down after use
thanks for the warning, because my temper is hotter then a volcano. i have put a casey lynch deep carry on my para 3 (s30v) and another brand on my para 2 (maxamet), and this is as far as i better go. nice vid, liked and subscribed.
Great video! I watched this before purchasing my para3 maxamet and I can say I love it. Purchased scales from Rock scale design and they are awesome. That lanyard hole was a pain, but overall it wasn't too bad and to boot adding nano oil to the bronze washers made it even better. Keep up the good work on these vids, man!
@@these7seas when you said that in the video I was stoked. I like sharpening ( I have a wicked edge pro) but I wanted a knife that didn't need much sharpening... Low maintenance if you will.
I hate the lanyard hole... Sal Glesser and family are into sailing, It's the only reason for the lanyard hole in my opinion. If we ever have Blade Show again maybe we could ask Sal. He works the Spyderco booth and loves to discuss the design details of knives. Great job on the video 😎👍. Thank you!
I would love to see a 3 year update... Thanks for the review. : )
Brother thanks for all the advise and info on this knife, i have the paramilitary 2 & wanted the 3 so now i will get one, very nice video btw.
Glad I was able to help you make a knife decision!
The lanyard tube feels like it's super glued when you take it out
Oh yeah, that’s the hardest part and I ended up scratching the junk out of my lanyard tube. Super pain to take apart...

Much appreciated!

Appreciate it! Yeah if you’re gonna take it apart, just be extra patient and maybe get a punching bag
Sharp dressed knives has a tool for the lanyard that is a dream to use and it really works well ...I wouldn't do one without the tool for sure
Yea I found out after the fact but they’re hard to get being sold out most of the time. That would save a ton of heartache

Good to hear! Yeah I was an impatient turtle and ended up jacking up my lanyard tube! Mine is still as sharp as when it first came from factory!

How is your para 3 maxamet today? Does it chips easily? Lot of patina ?
@@jkn2k it's still in great shape. The patina is great! I liked the 3 so much I bought a 2. Still super sharp.
Great review brother. Really enjoyed it, Thanks.
appreciate you watching!

Nicely done bro. Such a great knife.
Thank you!
I really like your video I was curious about Maximus steel very cool video very informative I just ordered my p.m. to with s35v
Thanks! Yeah you can’t go wrong with s35vn
Thanks brother. Great video. Did you ever oil it, or just wipe it and keep it dry generally?
I just wiped it down after use. I didn’t really oil it up or anything because I like patina….
Please tell us when you sharpin your maxamet and which method did you use. Which geit should I start with. Thanks!
Good video man..!! Do you think Flytanium scales same thickness as original G10's ..?
I thinks it’s really close or may be slightly thicker.
@@these7seas Great, thanks man..
I really like them scales. I’m very close to getting one of these or the cruwear one.
Do it. Won’t regret it!
I have the cruwear. Love that steel
Gave up my copper scales. Too heavy. Looked great but I decided to go with the titanium.
Yeah the titanium just adds that magic
Thanks a lot bro. I was wondering ... how would you compare this with the Para 2 overall? You know, if you could only have one, which would it be?
I’d choose the PM2. It’s just an all around great performer, doesn’t take up that much more space than a PM3 and I feel it’s less “humpy”
Would you still recommend this knife today?
100% recommend it today! It’s a design that just works well as an everyday carry! It’s compact, comfy in hand, and slices like nobody’s business!
Are those Titanium scales on your Para 3? If they are Sweet.
Yes from Flytanium. The best thing I did on this knife!
Nice review, subscribe 👍
Is maxemet food safe?
Are you in a tacoma?
Yeah but it’s impossible to sharpen and it’s gonna chip if you use for more then boxes
It's not impossible to sharpen you idiot.
Def not impossible just need diamond stones...
