Nice review. Paramilitary 2 or Para3 is the absolute best EDC, depending on size preference. I like the look of the Lynch clips but I don't like those screws sticking up & catching on fabrics.
Edge retention is a benefit and hardness doesn’t really mean toughness. I’ve used a para3 blade to remove a staple out of a pay stub and it chipped. Nice knives though 👍🏻
Personal preference! S45 is cheaper and stainless and all around really great! Maxamet is NOT stainless, more pricey, but stays sharp forever. I love my Maxamet blade and it’s going strong. But when I got mine it was before they went up in price.
My only gripe is the pocket clip. Prefer the deep carry wire clip on my PM3 light. On my smaller Spydercos, the Lynch clip is very hot and uncomfortable for heavy use. But they work beautifully on my Manix 2
Man I’m not sure I’d sell the 20cv! That’s a great all round high end steel and not a common steel to find on Spyderco. As much as I love Maxamet, don’t think I would… now if it was a base model steel then definitely - as long as you’re comfortable with the very non-stainless nature of max. Just my two cents haha. Maxamet is very high on edge retention for sure. 15v is as well.
Nice video! Thanks for sharing all the package contents, too! It was worthwhile reading the notes from Spyderco.
Thanks!! I appreciate the kind words! Yeah I think it's good to see what you're getting as much as possible :)
Just got a Maxamet Para 3. Love it.
Awesome! It’s a favorite for sure. I live in a temperate climate and no rust issues so far. And I still haven’t had to sharpen it 🤷♂️😂😁
I want a Blurple Pm3.
Carried my Pm2 in s35vn for 5 years now and it started my deep dive into knives. It's my go to for sure.
That PM2 story is literally my story too - even down to the steel lol!!

Yeah these are absolute staples in the collection. Planning to add more of various steels 😎
Nice vid! Do you happen to know what finish your Lynch clip is?
Thanks! Yep it's the sand-washed finish!

Good points! Edge geometry plays a big role as well. These days I’ve been carrying a pry bar in my backpack to avoid the temptation to pry!
@@BUCKSGEARBOX Yeah really, I’ve had to remind myself a few times “This is NOT for prying!”🙈 You’ll only do it once with a not so tough steel 😳👍🏻
Should I get the Maxamet or the S45VN?

A wire clip would be awesome! Good call :)
Should I sell my 20cv Para 3 and pick up the Maxamet?

Maxamet steel is brittle trash. Why are we even still talking about it?
Still enjoy mine 🤷🏻♂️ even though this vid is pretty old. Still super sharp :)
@BUCKSGEARBOX there's always at least one of these haters 😂😂 I love mine as well my brother. Great video
Thanks! Sorry I just saw this haha
