My daughter just turned 10 yesterday. She wanted a skateboard for her birthday. She picked a Santa Cruz. We skated in the driveway all afternoon. Then watched this movie. It was as good as I remember. She loved it also. We just got back from the skate park. This movie rules. Gleaming the cube, not so much.

I was like 10yo when this movie made it to my hometown videoclub (somewhere in north Spain). It had such a huge impact that all the kids took up skateboarding. This was the only contact with pro skating we had for years, so we'd watch the movie get all pumped up and then go out to try the tricks. It was so much fun to get on those flat-nose skateboards, now I'm 30yo and I still skateboard, still good fun but just not the same. Thanks for the video mate
I’m 34 and use this to get pumped up, old school boards are so fun, especially with reissue concave. Also Andy Anderson is getting me back into skating

Did anyone ever notice in the original VHS version of the scene at 4:38, there was a boom microphone that dips into the frame up top. Looks like they finally edited it out in the later releases.

This guy should be playing He-Man ! I know he was too young in the 80 ,he was like 18 in Thrashin' but he looks a lot like the pumped up guy from Eternia !
I love Josh Brolin in movies and I like Robert Rusler in movies and I like sports movies but however this movie "Thrashin" (1986) was not my cup of coffee. Too much speed in it.
Saw Robert Rodrigues' Planet Terror recently and it's funny to see how Josh Brolin looks 21 years after Thrashin'. He looks like Nick Nolte in Planet Terror. Anyway he plays a creepy doctor with a lovely wife played by Marley Shelton. She'd be 12 if she appeared in Thrashin'.
