  • In todays I go over why I purchased my 2014 honda crz and why it is such a great fun little car. The honda crz's are very reliable and unique cars that were very forgotten about. This is basically my one month review of owning the honda crz.

      I got mine in 2013 and it has 102k km, still in excellent shape. I changed and added a few things to it, including R17 rims, an android monitor, new speakers and woofer with sound balancing system, radar, front and back cameras, Brembo brakes, ambient lights, volume adjustable exhaust, etc.

    It's a really great car and also rare to see these days. I've had my CVT 2011 CR-Z since 2014, but I've invested a lot of time and money in mine though. I like the car so much that in 2021 I installed myself some Japan track spec suspension/brakes and a Sprintex supercharger and I don't regret it one bit. So, I've basically made mine into a zippy go kart, very fun to drive while still getting 30mpg.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats hella cool man. I've heard about the supercharger how easy was the install?

    • @Recon911PDW

      @@illusiversx It was actually not that difficult, and it added about 40-45 extra WHP. I know that Honda dealerships can still get their hands on the official HPD supercharger kits, but they require the 6MT version of the CR-Z to be installed. The Sprintex is the only supercharger I'd trust to put on the CVT with a proper tune since they can't handle too much before breaking. But having a supercharged hybrid is quite hilarious because it tries to be what the Prius Prime is today.

      Ik I've seen its an oem which is hilarious to me. When I found out they came from factory I was highly considering it for the huge power boost

      @@illusiversx I plan to do a supercharger; looking in to getting one that has an electric clutch to disengage under light loads (Mk1b MR2 had something similar).
      I also plan to research the torque limit for the CVT and tune the supercharger to peak at just under the limit and stay flat; for longevity.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I wouldn't modify a cvt. Heard people having problems with them with just the stock power... but do what you want man and see how it turns out!

    Really is a great car, this is pretty much just a commuting car with a touch of sport.
    Higher mileage doesn’t matter too much for these cars, it is a hybrid so the battery does not like to sit a long time.
    Aim for a 2013+ the interior is better, doesn’t stain as easily, has the S+ button with gives you a bit of power in command, better battery, and smaller improvements all around.
    Most common upgrade is swapping the battery out for a 51R instead of the 151 which is super easy.
    Only thing to be careful of with this car is the door handles, use the handle just enough to pop the door, then open with the frame.
    Super fun little car, I get 38-42MPG, others get close to 50-55mpg on the highway. Not sure how, but they do it.

      I haven't been able to test yet but have a lot of Honda hybrid seat time and some time in a Prius as well.
      I have been able to get over 90 mpg in a 05 civic hybrid and over 40 in a normal 00 accord sedan and over 40 in a 19 BRZ.
      I've been getting just under 40 in WI winter without making serious effort; but has shown hints that I could get 50s/60s in warmer weather on roads with around a 45 mph speed limit, flat ground, no headwind, etc. pretty easy.
      In Eco, it feels about as powerful as the civic hybrid. In normal it feels relatively responsive, in sport/S+ it feels 'swift'. I use S+ to use a burst of full assist up to speed limit without flooring it.
      The S+ is giving you an extra about 5 hp; it isn't meant to set the world on fire and about what you get from the Elantra N's button.
      If you control your foot, Normal and Eco will get close to the same under 55 mph; it does seem to be at a slightly higher rpm at 80 mph iirc; sport will definitely be in a higher rpm band and lower your economy.
      Since you are in WI; plan a 51R AGM battery replacement, requires a slight trim of the battery tray but will prevent some winter issues from what I've read.
      Door handle thing seems to be an issue; was on the old Eclipse as well, but I never had an issue personally; I'm gentle with handles.
      so much about this car that is great and fun

      Glad u liked it! Out of the 2 CRZ's I own, both on factory batteries. One even with 160k miles. There's been a few that have lasted up to 400k miles already so its not something I'd be too worried about. Personally if mine goes out, might just have to k swap😂

    with the s+ you need to remove your foot from the pedal, then press it, then foot down on the pedal again once its ready. should work okay.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't need to do that. From my experience with it, you just have to press down harder on the gas and it engages

      @@illusiversx yep; if you don't push your foot down any further, it won't respond; but press down just enough and it will do its thing without you flooring it. It feels odd, I haven't adjusted yet as I just recently reacquired one.

      I've found in Eco mode the S+ button provides greater output. Which makes sense. When the cars in Sport mode it provides less output on the S+ because of the higher engine output. That lines up with the hackers that were able to trick the ECU to provide more output based on the driving mode. That is in sport mode ECU sensor sensing the car is in ECO mode. I believe it has to do with a chip configuration. It's still a blast to drive. True it's not a Sports car. Hence the lower insurance costs. Finally, snagged mine in 2017 ad 2014 MT 10,000 clams. Currently have 80,000. Probably keeping it for a few more years with some sticky tires and no other upgrades. End.
