As a kid this movie was boring, as an adult it’s my favorite, now I understand what my uncle went through. Very interesting war for the ones that weren’t special operations
That's cause it's a true anti war movie If you left the theatre inspired to join the military, then it's not an anti war film Jarhead made me realize how miserable and depressing the marine life is
@@tunasandwich8049 It’s funny because I don’t think this is an anti war movie it just tells it how it is just based on my experience so far. It doesn’t focus on pushing a narrative or message just tells the story and the day to day BS Marines and other active duty personnel deal with.
@@rusty7984 one can interpret it as not being an anti war film but the fact of the matter is that it doesn't accidentally glorify war through pure action similar to fmj It's the mundane and killing boredom that stars in the film which is honestly what servicemen experience the most As they say "hurry up and wait"
@@tunasandwich8049 Exactly it doesn’t glorify anything but it doesn’t demean and make all marines and soldiers irredeemable monsters. Just the truth which is why a lot of people both pro and anti military didn’t like it. Personally I love it for the reason it shows the truth we go through everyday
I remember when I got jumped into my squad, it’s the stupid little things that I miss, the stupid little things that no one but the ones that were in will understand
@ True bud, true. But there’s a handful of films that have done justice to the experience of front-line action, this being one, and it wouldn’t take much to get the little things right. IMHO of course.
Shrapnel doesn’t cover even PART of the area, it’s like the pirate’s code when it comes to the “safety area” around a detonation. “They’re more like guidelines” The concussion sucks, but if it’s not modern artillery you’ll live. @@tunasandwich8049Fmj is NOT a pro-war movie. You miss the whole point of the film if you believe that.

same, the hazing was still a core memory for me 😂
Beautiful yet undignified moment of brotherly love. He is forever a marine with his mark to prove it.
4:13 "Those are dead batteries" "Shut up" 😂
I only properly understood this movie after coming back from deployment
this is very homosexual
yep marine certified
It's called "brotherly love". Applies to every military.❤️
@TeurastajaNexus especially marines
@@stralabastro142 Cheers from Finland. I served in the Army in Jaeger Brigade. It was the best year of my young life.
@@TeurastajaNexus thank you for your service my man, me myself im hopefully joining the italian navy this year.
@@stralabastro142 Sounds great, brother. I wish you all the best and enjoy your time there. We are NATO.💪
I wouldn’t know that kind of brotherly love
You would not survive a shell landing that close, there would be shrapnel everywhere
Wouldn’t the concussion mess you up too? Assuming some how you didn’t take shrapnel
@ very true
Yeah it's Hollywood. Oh well.
