I proclaim that you, sir, are The Master of the Order of Operations. Absolutely. Yes, I understand clever video editing smooths out the chaos of real time processes, but the detailed reality of your planning and execution do not escape the attention of a trained eye. I am a professional engineer and have audited many a project and operation. As importantly, I was raised in the construction trades, the pure cultures of which transcend engineering and technical adequacy and morph into artistry…that magical place where a trade master happily bursts your bubble of confidence for the slightest blemished effort. Masters are mad as hatters. You seem insanely calm, determined, and detail oriented; yet almost impishly creative. You only cracked - ever so slightly - trying to maneuver a 400 lb. monster beam. You are indeed a master. I look forward to your future ventures and adventures! Be safe!
I swear it's the comment section of TH-cam that keeps me going. You are too kind! Professionally, I've been the Master of the Order of Operations for visual effects work of films. The funny (funny?) thing about this engineering project is that I'm applying all the same strategies and skills, but if I make a mistake, a house falls over. I will admit to feeling in over me head once or twice, but I shook it off.
I'm so excited this series is back! I followed every single episode last year and was just about as excited as I get about TH-cam videos every time a new one published!
Wow. So much wow. Amazing property. Beautiful views. Meticulous planning. Journey. Execution. HARD WORK. Storytelling. Design student labor. Good dog. Thank you for creating this. I’m getting so many Hardly Boys vibe. Sub’d and can’t wait for the next video!
Excellent work. You’ve certainly acquired a large skill set and you’re using all of them. Where I live you can’t trim your hedges without a building permit and a contractor!
I hear you. Half my year is spent at our house in San Francisco, and the permitting office here has to win some kind of award for complexity bordering on madness. The foundation work I'm doing at the lake required a permit, but not a great deal of oversight has been involved after the permit was issued.
This is genuinely a stunning piece of film. I love watching the restoration and your film making abilities are incredible. So many creative cuts and sequences. Thank you for all the hard work!
You know, I have watched this video a number of times and that was even after watching each part previous. Each time I have found myself dwelling upon how I feel whilst I watch, which is nostalgic. Whilst I have never renovated a house, screen printed my wallpaper or made a movie prop light switch there is a familiarity to your videos. That familiarity is how I felt watching videos in the earlier days of social media, creators having access to an audience and presenting their disciplines in new and exciting ways. I really do believe that this is a lost art in a medium that more resembles a soapbox (Brillo excluded, of course) than a constructive output. Thank you for continuing to entertain, teach and inspire.
I've said it before. I'll say it again. I could have easily given up on this platform if not for the thoughtfulness and generosity of the audience. Thank you for this.
His fans will be disappointed to hear that Hugo's contract wasn't renewed for the second season. We're thinking of casting a pet rabbit or a few chickens, but it won't be the same.
Thank you. An hour+ slotted _just for this video_ was well worth it. Even as a shoe-box-bound maker...erm, _person_ I appreciate that the one-man-army approach always has unique problems - and all of them have solutions. Ingenuity and grit is the core. Wish you a productive and fun year two 🙇
I either missed half of this series or old age is getting to me! All of this felt new until the foundation work, which is actually okay because it felt like a new adventure. And I still love the adventure comic feel of how you presented this amazing project to us. On to year two!
So psyched I found this gem! I kinda fear it's the function of some clever tracking from TH-cam as I likely drove pretty close to your place on Saturday when I got done with the Allagash, and was heading back home to southern Maine. looking forward to seeing what you got done this year. Nice work!
Absolutely loved this. It hasn't been *that* long, but taking us back through it is a great reminder of all the work that's already been done. Going into the 2nd season with a much more solid foundation (figuratively and literally). So, thanks for cutting it all together and watching through I'm somehow even more in awe of your patience and forward motion with this gargantuan project. I guess working on those summer movies probably helped you learn to love the the slog. Keep it going! And kudos to you for finding your voice and its nice to see more of you talking in the videos. Really ties the content together. Looking forward to more content!
I appreciate your thoughts. Loving the Slog would arguably be a more accurate channel description, or line on my tombstone. At the end of the day, it's all slog. Talking to camera has always been my nemesis. The making-of interviews at the end of film projects always gave me sweats. In TH-cam land, it doesn't help that I operate in the same space (sometimes literally the same space) as my buddy Adam Savage who is the absolute king. That man can talk.
"It's all slog." Love it. Well for whatever its worth, you're in the same class as Adam in my eyes. Both immensely enjoyable content creators, whether you lean into more talking to the camera or out - know that its working and makes great content even better. @@cinodrome
Was nice to be back in Houlton the past few days. Really proud of the community and relieved that everything came together. Can’t wait to get back this summer. David & Joyce.

@@DeanWilhite That's....shocking. I know I shouldn't be shocked at this point, but still. It was a TH-cam ad that popped up on my video? They should begin sending me free frames immediately.

Thanks for sharing, great video!
That milluakee haul is incredible. Super jealous! Love this series and your commentary.

I've always wanted to give one a try!
awesome. A hidden gem
Absolutely - thanks for watching.
My two favorite YT’s (Fogler and the Crafsman) drop unexpectedly the same Friday at happy hour! Nice! Great vid as always my man!
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for making this. Great to see your progress in one go. And so many new shots!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for sharing great projects. Best regards from Sweden.
Thanks for watching in Sweden!
I reckon a coating in deep forest green with a stone grey matt would greatly benefit it..
We’re talking exterior color? That’s a point of hot debate, but we’ve got time. Year three at the earliest.

Is that the same structural engineer that works with the 30x40 architect? That guy needs his own channel.
Yes indeed! And yes, he's excellent on camera. He also prefers to remain under the social media radar.

Absolutely - just as soon as I can hook up the water without risk of the pipes freezing.
Looking forward to it!
Hey @cinadrome , what’s that perfect shade of green you use so often?
It's always a little different. I need to lock it down. It's an attempt at army olive green, but it seems no one can agree quite what that is exactly.
