2nd place with a 4:45 is incredible, and you still have another meet left. You could break 4:40 by now, I watched your videos to help me push through the pain in races and workouts, and also helped me mentally to break through the pain of sprinting in the last 200 meters of the race. Last mile race I ran was a 5:11, getting really close to breaking 5 minutes and I can't wait for XC season this year!
@parkerhaddock980. I’m not Evan but I’m the #1 8th grade runner in MS for the 32 and 16 and I run similar times to even. So when i saw your comment i was thinking maybe I could help. The best thing over the summer is building a base with longer miles but not too many to the point where you get hurt. It really depends on the runner. For me that looks like 5-6miles daily around 7:15-7:30 pace. It should be comfortable and you should be able to talk or listen to music and you shouldn’t feel sore afterwards or your doing too many miles or going too fast. Training anywhere from 4-6 days a week this summer is good to build into cross country season. If you want to spice it up occasionally and do something fast that’s great also. Hope I could help and if you got a question send it in this comment thread
I have a friend on my team who ran a 4:36 and he’s in 11th, you’re in 8th and run a 4:45, that is absolutely insane, keep up the great work, you’re doing amazing!
Evan I love your videos I have seen the day in the life like 5 times now, I run cross country and I play baseball for 8th grade! Keep up the great work
Great place and time! Can’t wait for the state video! I was wondering what your 1500 time is if u have ran it. I’m a Seventh Grader and I have a PR of 4:43
Yo, Evan- are you going to the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Philadelphia? It’s from June 13th-15th I think and you would definitely qualify. Some kids from my team (New Jersey) and I are going, but we’re also closer. You should think about it!
proper rest is very important and you also need to make sure that you are stretching well, had a lot of pain early into the season since I'm not very good at stretching.
Hey my name is Evan as well and I don’t run track but run xc in 8th grade and my 1 mile is 4:57 but I don’t focus on that I prefer more long distance but my goal for xc is to break 16:00 and I’m super excited to see what you can do but I have a quick question this upcoming year for you do you run the 2 mile for xc or the 5k for the first year???
Hey Evan, I’ve been watching your vids for a while and have noticed that you hula hoop your arms a lot which may slow you down because of your form. Try running a bit more relaxed, you’re doing great!

Great job! Is that a PR?
Keep it up, I hope you get to State!

good job bro! gl on eventually a 4:30. any tips to drop from a 5:57 mile (long runs, sprints etc.)?
Try interval workouts, like 8x400 at race pace, 4x(2x200) alternating mile and 800 pace, or 6x300 building each 100
Evan, you are super fast, what’s your goal for the 8 next year?
