- The 1980s was a decade and time of big ideas, big hair, new technologies, big sounds, and most importantly, for us and you, huge advances in the automotive industry and a return to brute power. We can all see that there has been something of an 80s revival in the U.S., some for the good, some for the bad, but if there is one thing that we can all be proud to see stay popular, are the muscle cars of the era.
With leading car manufacturers of the time, like Ford, Dodge, Buick, and Chevrolet all bringing their A-game in the 1980s and making the most of some great V-engines, there are some insanely cool boxy muscle cars from the 1980s still turn heads today
All the cars on our list of 1980s muscle cars have been chosen for their awesome performance stats, for their funky design, retro appeal, how they changed the automotive world, and for their down-right legendary status. So, whether you are looking for a drag-strip beast or a comfy cruiser, there will be one here that'll get that nostalgic heart of yours thumping to the electronic synth beat.

buick ❤
I have an 84 Pontiac. Transem WS6 package T tops 5 speed fully loaded 42803 miles. Just needs a little t l c
3rd gen F-Bodys are so underrated. I have an 83 Trans Am
@@jasonsobol32 I love Camaro Iroc Z 85-88 and Berlinetta 85 and 86. Pontiac Firebird TRans AM 85-88 and GTA 87 and 88 is my favorites and dream cars. Best muslce cars and 1980s and too Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 85-88 and 4-4-2 85-87
@fernandorocha-dx1wv they're all great. People just don't respect the generation, due to the restrictions of the malaise era of cars
Had a black/gold '83 Recaro Edition Ttop 5sp, black/gold '85 Ttop Bandit II, '88 black/black Ttop GTA & '98 black/black Ttop 6sp Ram Air LS1
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman my 83 is a Daytona Pace Car
No 87 Mustang 5.0 lx or GT No regular Grand National? The Cougar and the T Bird were never considered to be Muscle cars😂
They also weren't real muscle cars... 6 cylinder???
You missed one: the 1984 Ford Mustang SVO. The turbo four under the hood left little to be desired. It was a powerhouse, and possibly predecessor to the current CJ5E EcoBoost turbo four in the base Mustang.
That turbo 4 was the same Pinto engine from the Mustangs of the '70s
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman That 4 cyl in the Mustang was turned up a lot more than the Pinto version. Also had better handling than the v8 mustangs at the time.
@@w41duvernay I know this to be true but its still a Pinto engine no matter how you "turn it up" & yea it definitely handled better than the V8 slug box! This chic I was bangin in 1979 her oldest brother had a white Ttop '78 139hp Cobra & that thing was as slow as molasses & couldnt keep up with or handle anything like my '78 Ttop 220hp Trans Am {or my '78 Ttop 185hp Z28} Dodge Lil Red Express was fastest 1979! Hell even my '88 GTA Trans Am was tearing up Fox body slowstangs in the late '80s early '90s
I owned an ‘85 SVO and it was NOTHING like a Pinto. It was quick, handled great, and turned heads
I drove a 1987 442 won’t even peel out 1 inch
It had only 180 hp
@@davyd4355 yea those 307s were just terrible! A chic I was banging in the late '80s had an '87, was a good looking car & great to drive but had no power as I had an '88 GTA Trans Am at the time so the 442 felt like driving a small 6 cylinder compared to my 350
Um, question: In a video featuring 80s Muscle Cars, why on earth would you feature a Cutlass Supreme, and not even mention a Mustang?? If you were using performance as a benchmark, what about the Taurus SHO? Surely that was more "muscle" than a Cutlass Supreme or even a Cougar for that matter.
Also, explain the how the Cutlass dash was "wrap around" It's about as arrow straight as a Kansas highway. The 'fire glass" hood on the Camaro also made me chuckle.
The reason it turn head you don't see them anymore remember my dad had 85 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme in the
Video beige color with tan interior with light brown vinyl top yeah turn head it low mileage it was shinny
Brougham white wall spoke wheels
In 90 to 2011 living new york it hard
To many thief and vandalized and hugh insurance so
It got mess up it end up junk yard
BOY THAT GNX NOTHING BUT FIRE 🔥... IT'S OFF THE HOOK 🪝...💣💣💣💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Great vid!!!!! 🤜🤛
Glad you enjoyed it ❤️🔥
@@American.legends I love this video, very nice. I love american muscle cars 1980s, 1985-1988 is my favorites
Thanks Man, it means a lot to me 😊💖
The grand prix weighing 3100 pounds isn't really that heavy but idk I also have 4 door 86 caprice so the g body's a pretty small and light compared to the g bodies from the same era
Great show and review also seeing these today puts a big smile on my face . I always wanted one of these G or F bodies from GM but ended up getting a B body Oldsmobile 88 sedan back in the 80s . GREAT TIMES 😊
I think you forgot about the G Body El Camino, my '82 tends to turn quite a few heads and get a few compliments whenever I drive it XD
I Love the Olds 442. But also looking for my other love the 84 El Camino
1980 Chevy Turbo Monte Carlo 3.8V6 Don't forget this one and the Lincoln Mark 7 5.0. The Pontiac Turbo Trans Am GTA 3.8 also the 1985 Buick Riveria Turbo T-Type 3.8 and the Buick Century Turbo 3.8 lastly the Lesabre Turbo Coupe T-Type.
Hopefully there is a Part 2 where you do the Mopars.
I love the Buick GNX, but the Pontiac Turbo Trans Am GTA 3.8 V6 was way fastest and could handle better because of the GNX Engine that both of them were equipped with.
Mercury Capri 5.0 and Chrysler Starion TSI 2.6 V6 1982-1986 Dodge Challenger
This video would have been SO much better if you had included 1/4 mile times ! You do realize it’s gear heads watching these videos ? Also, no Mustang GT’s ? Really ?
Lincoln LSC were cool too😂
No mustang? Mustangs were killing Camaros and firebirds in the 80s
Mustang is a pony car. Not a muscle car. Never was. Never will be.. Goggle that..
@@tonyfisher2014 well, by that logic a Grand Prix was never a muscled car either
Exactly, it's a specific size car with a 1 ci per 100 pounds
@@larrygroMustang is a Pony car: Look at the Mustang, then look at the GP. Okay, no delete your comment. Thanks!
@@OdditiesOffcial I’m not deleting anything. It’s a matter of opinion and if the Camaro was considered a muscle car then the mustang was too since the Camaro was created to rival it.
3:38 is this Callie or Mia (both girls of Muscle Cars For Sale Inc. fame) driving this car?
What about the 89 Pontiac 20th Anniversary Trans Am? Grand National power in a lighter more aerodynamic package.
❤
1985 pontiac Gr'on Prix. Sound french. Like Gray poo pon..😂😂😂
Pontiac GRAn Prix 85-88 is my favorites, i love cars
Burgundy interior in the cutlass, hate it
None of them were muscle cars
NONE of these are musclecars..307's, 305's, 302's ,231 V6's aren't m/c engines either...Wake up... Quit the dis-info.
