I used to be a big fan of Annie's music back in the day. Her old band Giant Drag was actually really great. Their debut album is a 2000's forgotten gem. She was always kinda out there but in a way that was a lot more charming. She's been through some awful and tragic life events since then, including the death of her partner and child, plus ongoing physical and mental health issues. She's since become very religious and fallen down a paranoid conspiracy hole. As a former fan, it's been really hard to watch. This film almost seems somewhat exploitative using her as something to gawk at.
💯 I am a fan as well. I actually bought a vinyl record she self released of a Live Giant Drag show from the UK that she hand painted the jacket herself. When following her she started posting conspiracy stuff so I messaged her and she tried to take me down a super crazy conspiracy rabbit hole and would not take anything I said to her seriously, she wants to believe in conspiracy more than reality. It’s very sad.
@@sador42 that's so cool! Yes, it's really sad. I've kept following her over the years because I always hoped she'd catch another break with her music. Her behavior has become increasingly erratic over the years and she looks pretty unhealthy. She's so caught up in all this different conspiracy and "spiritual" stuff that she seems like a different person. I've messaged with her a little bit several years ago, and she was very sweet and kind. Life has not been good to her and I don't think she's ok. :(
did she in real life too? I liked the song they used by her band at the end after she stopped rapping but didn't bother looking into her as a person beyond that
There's a live vid of her on kimmel, her album hearts and unicorns is stellar imo. She went through hell in her personal life and it seems it affected her mental state a lot
@@AmandaTheJedi she absolutely is. Her Twitter is a nightmare of Q conspiracy and transphobic stuff. That my biggest issue with this whole film, don’t give her a platform unchecked.
I just went up to my Canadian wife with "caricature" written on a piece of paper like "read this out loud, I need to know if that's an Amanda thing or a Canadian thing". Turns out it's Amanda :P
I thought the part where Annie gets Stretch to rap a little with her, and the part later where he jokes about having small balls was actually an okay part. They set aside the bullshit between them to actually be... ya know, people for a minute- to get each other's mind off what's happening and to keep moving. It's the only moment where you get the sense that there was a time they really were friends. But hey, broken clock's right twice a day.
The real Annie Hardy is a bit of a miserable, bitter, entitled, nightmare of a person. There's no doubt in my mind this part was written for her and the character was based on her. I'm sure there are some exaggerations here, but probably not as much as it would be if this character was a decent person. Thank you for saving me from watching this. I still loosely follow Annie's career because Giant Drag was such a huge and influential part of my late teens/early 20s, but I don't think nostalgia is enough to make me sit through this mess.
Yikes. I just assumed it was an over-the-top version of what people _think_ conservatives are like. It's bizarre to actually see someone like that out in the wild, if that's supposed to be a version of herself. (Also, very unpleasant.)

The Bubble is my pick for worst movie of the year so far. Dated premise, no plot, no characters, just a long and insufferable series of bad improv. I thought it would never end.
Also my pick for the worst movie of 2022 is the recent Netflix release The Man from Toronto. A waste of actors and a profoundly unfunny experience. Worst of all, I don’t think Hollywood will ever get around to pronouncing “Toronto” correctly

I legit thought “I… I think it’s supposed to be a parody of modern foundfootage movies that lean into streams and smartphones instead of video cameras” Like, doesn’t feel like a parody of “Unfriended”? The unlikeable characters, the throw everything at the wall regardless of thought. I confess that both the “money scene” and the final shot got a genuine laugh out of me. Even the idea of an ancient demon being crushed to death by the keyboard was funny to me, im not gonna lie. The absurdity of the Ariana Grande tattoo on it’s own and by the fact it ended up being something with a payoff; The political references which I read as how all those movies try to force a political jab only to be as forced and without purpose as that. I made a different movie in my head as I was watching it. Which is a hell of a brainrot. Since apparently it was meant to be taken 100% as an horror movie. That being the case: Why? The fact that the director could explain the “lore” of the thing in one paragraph yet couldn’t communicate it in the movie is the mark of “failing at movie”. He movied wrong. Still, as an absurdist comedy, I found it very entertaining. Could have been a 15 to 20 minute short. Maybe I should do something about my irony poisoned brain.
That's Tumblr Supernatural fan levels of brainrot and I commend you. Even just going off Amanda's review, it genuinely does make a lot more sense and do a far better job of being entertaining when viewed as a parody.
How are you doing my friend? How are you feeling? Annie was just so very selfish in this movie, and she was completely all about herself. I am completely with you Amanda, this movie just frustrated me too. I love you!! Stay safe!! Have a very peaceful night!!
Genuinely incredible to me that people liked this movie, and that they found Annie to be funny. I skipped nearly the first half an hour because of her brutal “rapping.”
I just rewatched Spree!! I didn't expect you to mention that film in this review so that just made my day! And agreed. I prefer that film over Dashcam.
3:38 "I needed some face lotion for my skin so I wouldn't get the hose again..." That was as hilariously funny as it was unexpected. Comedy gold, right there.
I think if you're trying to make a horror/thriller where the audience is supposed to feel anxiety at the events unfolding, where you empathise with the protagonist to some degree because of the situation, and the only thing you keep asking yourself is when will this 'person' please just die... you're doing it wrong.
Okay so my niche in the occult might come into play here. I think that symbol is a mix of three popular occult symbols, the ichthys (Jesus fish), the all seeing eye, and the upside down cross. I've never seen them mashed up in this way before, but I believe that those are the symbols they were trying to use? Edit: if I had to guess as to what the fuck the plot was trying to get at, was probably the idea of pleiades/pleidians which are basically canonical bible aliens in some beliefs. Hence the reference to Christian lore as well as aliens. But I really can't be bothered to think too terribly hard about this movie.
I think the hidden theme was about Human ST and Anne’s ignorance and beliefs/ internet validation overshadowing the horror of being abduct*d. Politics make people more upset than the movie dragging you through each step of literal abduction. Her despising LA, The fair, minivans filled w kids toys and clothes, dungeons in the house… ignorance of HST is the real plot. It was half of the movie yet 90% of people were more horrified by her beliefs.. as well as the almost unwatchable first half💀
They really went back to 90’s tv inspiration for the tattoo thing. There was an episode in Buffy the Vampire Slayer where they used a tattoo for the “rapid aging” reveal. Same thing in an episode of Charmed. Lol.
Host was fairly simple but extremely effective. I literally watched it on zoom with my friends and they were horrified and I thought the writing and execution was pretty good.
Pretty sure the actress is actually like this irl, just not as over the top as portrayed here. Definitely same beliefs at the very least. I think she also does the car streaming thing for real Really wish I didnt pay to rent this after I learned that 😬

Hey Amanda! I just wanted to drop by and say how much I love your movie commentaries. Even when I haven't watched the films or have any prior knowledge about them, you make everything so easy to follow and understand. Your insights and humor always make my day. Keep up the amazing work! 🌟
The filmmakers described in an interview with Collider how they didn't have scripts for much of Annie's scenes. Instead they just had bullet points for what they wanted. This explains the incoherent "and then this happened...and this happened" storytelling. They've tried to justify the awful main protagonist of annie with b******t centrist notions of "tolerating other opinions" but the problem with Annie isn't that she holds awful opinions (she does) - it's just her awful personality full stop. Putting her anti-vax/maga nonsense to one side she's still an obnoxious person : she turns up, seemingly unannounced, at her friends house in the middle of the night terrifying him and his girlfriend. She insults the girlfriend for no reason every chance she gets. She gets Stretch in trouble at work then steals both his car and his phone. Maybe to live in this modern world we have to tolerate obnoxious opinions but we shouldn't have to tolerate obnoxious *people*.
Blumhouse really feels like that 80s boardroom that I always imagine when I hear about business ideas that happened in the 80s, where a bunch of people are sitting around a table and someone just does a bump and is like "WOO OKAY WHAT THE FUCK IS UP NEXT. Dashcams? The fuck about them? Make a movie about them? Fucking brilliant. Throw it to the writers!" And then it's either a fantastic choice or it's a choice that leads to Enron.

I feel like the description of the movie just kept going, and going, and *going*, and I didn't even have to watch the whole movie. This seems... awful.
Reminds me of “Five Across The Eyes”, an independent found footage film from 2006 where all five main characters are just like Annie in terms of idiocy and how grating they are to watch, (arguably worse than Annie), and all of them survive.
This is truly the worst Movie! The lead Actress is the most insufferable annoying human I think I have ever seen in my life. I watched the entire movie but I was surfing my phone because I was so annoyed but had to see how this garbage movie ended.
After watching this video that main actor’s TH-cam channel got recommended on my feed, and comments here are saying she actively stated herself that this role was more of a characture than an actual acting role… send help. I want to never see that demon’s face again 😟
Imagine a car horror movie from the point of view of the evil car's dashcam Imagine a scene where some characters are talking in front of the car and as the scene ends and the characters walk away the car's dashcam slowly turns towards one of the characters and the engine revvs (Edit because i came up with another scene idea) Near the beginning of the film a character accidentally reverses their car into the evil car. Then during the horror villain rampage the car spots the person who reversed into them and the car goes through it's dashcam footage to recognise the person and while the stranger is alone and exiting their car, the car goes top speed in reverse crushing the front of the car causing the strangers leg to be caught in the crushed car. The car then drives forwards turns around and hits the person so fast that their leg is ripped off.
I legitimately could not get past 12 minutes of the movie before I said "fuck this" and close the tab. More power to anyone who stuck with it and melted what's left of their brains because that movie was garbage.
can someone explain to me the connotation of Blumhouse? like Amanda talks about it with a sense of "everybody knows it is known for..." but I just don't know 😅
Blumhouse is basically famous (or infamous) for making a ton of horror flicks with varying degrees of success, but more times than not the budget for said movies is incredibly low so they still profit at the box office. Some examples of well-liked films from Blumhouse include Get Out, the Invisible Man (2020), and depending on who you ask, Happy Death Day. But they are also responsible for a bad Fantasy Island horror movie, the Visit, and the Purge franchise which has long overstayed its welcome by now.
So the covid restrictions are too tough for her so she flies to the UK that has the same restrictions and probably had some restrictions about letting people come into the country?
The story for Savage’s Dashcam was so weird and hard to follow even when you were explaining it to me, I can’t even imagine how hard it was to follow watching it!!
Isn't the actor from the other Dashcam the guy from Buzzfeed who always messes with the dark web on Buzzfeed's dime and does uncomfortable crime deep dives now that Unsolved is gone? So, basically he's in a short film just playing himself.

Oh no not religion!
There's nothing paranoid about a neo-Marxist America, anyone who fails to notice this is completely brainwashed and very lazy...
17:21 The "Ariana just brings the family together!" Aged very poorly....😂
I was just going to comment this!
😐😌😆
💀💀💀
Well, at least we got two excellent dashcam reviews for the price of one which was free. Your work helps to get us through the worst. Thank you.
Had this video randomly come up and couldn’t laugh at the Honey ad read… ah well.
I used to really love Annie’s music, but she’s apparently gone full Q, Christian & covid conspiracy theorist.
did she in real life too? I liked the song they used by her band at the end after she stopped rapping but didn't bother looking into her as a person beyond that
Yeah, from what I’ve heard on her podcast, she’s like that in real life, too.
There's a live vid of her on kimmel, her album hearts and unicorns is stellar imo. She went through hell in her personal life and it seems it affected her mental state a lot
@@YLSQUID 💯 Very sad, Giant Drag was an awesome band, especially That album.
@@AmandaTheJedi she absolutely is. Her Twitter is a nightmare of Q conspiracy and transphobic stuff. That my biggest issue with this whole film, don’t give her a platform unchecked.
Okay but why does Amanda say 'caricature' like it's a record scratch
I just went up to my Canadian wife with "caricature" written on a piece of paper like "read this out loud, I need to know if that's an Amanda thing or a Canadian thing". Turns out it's Amanda :P
@@alannamcfall7887 Might also depend on which part of Canada your wife comes from, tho
"Who's running errands right now? Who? It's not this guy." I laughed so fckin hard at this part. 🤣🤣
@@jacksyoutubechannel4045 Not over-the-top if you look at what's been happening the past few years.
@@jacksyoutubechannel4045 I’m not gonna lie, every single person from the right I’ve met is exactly like this, including half of my family. I had to cut them out of my life completely because it’s unbearable, especially when they straight up say to my face that they don’t believe I should have human rights lol
I’ve been following her a while and see nothing but good
Yeah I used to be the biggest Giant Drag fan in high school! I've kept following her over the years because I've always hoped her music would take off again. It was once so great! But eventually i just had to unfollow her. It got so toxic. She has been through a lot, though, so I still feel some sadness for her.
Fun Fact: Annie Hardy is featured in Deftones’ “Pink Cellphone”. She says some pretty crazy things about Brits/England in the last minute of that song, lol.
When the main character is this unlikable, horror suddenly becomes comedy.
So real I wanted her to die so bad not stretch he deserved to live smh
5:35 I did the same thing first time watching The Shining. Except I spent about an hour waiting for Jack Nicholson to show up before I realized there might be more than 1 version of The Shining. Googled it and sure enough I had the 1997 miniseries, not the Stanley Kubrick film
Damn, that one scene with the old lady having blood fill up her mask is pretty dope/spooky actually
To quote MST3K: "This movie DARES you to watch it."
The Bubble is my pick for worst movie of the year so far. Dated premise, no plot, no characters, just a long and insufferable series of bad improv. I thought it would never end.
Didn't subject myself to that one!
@@AmandaTheJedi There's still time.
I wanted to like the bubble so bad. But it was unwatchable. I didn’t even finish it
Long stretches of basically every Apatow movie lacks any coherent plot, and so many Covid-centric movies lack ditto. Hence, movie sucks
Also my pick for the worst movie of 2022 is the recent Netflix release The Man from Toronto. A waste of actors and a profoundly unfunny experience. Worst of all, I don’t think Hollywood will ever get around to pronouncing “Toronto” correctly
I don't know how you managed to sit though this and pay enough attention to be able to review it cuz damn, even you explaining what this movie is is like a fever dream/migraine combo!
Feel asleep, woke up to this video, and completely lost!😂
Imagine going through all that bullshit to summon a demon that someone can easily just beat to death with a cheap blunt object.
Ok the main character has a voice that effects me like nails to a chalkboard. You have a higher tolerance to pain than I do. 😅
I appreciate the sick "The Visit" by m night shyamalan reference by having an insufferable character repeatedly rapping while not being good at it at all
I legit thought “I… I think it’s supposed to be a parody of modern foundfootage movies that lean into streams and smartphones instead of video cameras” Like, doesn’t feel like a parody of “Unfriended”?
Amanda seriously needs to treat herself after watching this movie. 😂 Go read some Alice/Bella fanfiction. You deserve it!
She felt the covid restrictions were too harsh so she went TO THE UK? 😂
"I'm sorry, I'm so hostile." Be hostile. BE hostile! THIS IS A MESS!
I just rewatched Spree!! I didn't expect you to mention that film in this review so that just made my day!
And agreed. I prefer that film over Dashcam.
Spree is a fun little gem!
I like mentioning it when I can because I feel like it does so well what a lot of these other movies have been trying to do.
@@AmandaTheJedi I couldn't agree more! It's such a crazy ride.
@@vomitfountain right?! I ended up buying it lol
Do you watch black balloon?
Lol.
Watching amanda rant after a tiring day is like getting a Thai massage for the soul
Host was fairly simple but extremely effective. I literally watched it on zoom with my friends and they were horrified and I thought the writing and execution was pretty good.
Pretty sure the actress is actually like this irl, just not as over the top as portrayed here. Definitely same beliefs at the very least. I think she also does the car streaming thing for real
Really wish I didnt pay to rent this after I learned that 😬
oh she's absolutely like that in real life. i went to a free screening of the movie and she's uh... basically just the character
💯 - I am a fan of her band Giant Drag, I followed her on instagram and she started posting crazy conspiracy stuff so I messaged her and she is in the deep end of buying into all sorts of conspiracy theories. I finally had to unfollow her cause we argued in instagram messenger and she could not deal with facts.
@@sador42 Yeah, I had to scroll a bit but the disinformations are still there. Instagram even flagged it as such. I guess they went for absolute realism with their portrayal of Annie.
Yes, cosign what sador42 said. Giant Drag drew some buzz as a band in the mid aughts and Annie Hardy was its singer/guitarist. For years she’s been doing livestream car “jams”. For a while i thought all that conspiracy stuff was ironic but yikes. Too bad, because nothing about Giant Drag’s music or even lyrics betray her real life wackadoo nonsense
"Don't platform trash" is the best takeaway from this whole operation.
Oh, and watch the other "Dashcam".
You are so strong for watching this. I was irritated just watching the clips of the main character lady.
Throw it to the writers!"
And then it's either a fantastic choice or it's a choice that leads to Enron.
I love how you blur out the spiderman poster during your ad, but it's unblurred during the rest of the video. And the funniest part is how you can obviously tell it's a spiderman poster even if you only see the blurred version.
for a movie to be worst than 365 days part 2 means it must be very very bad!
I’m like, 6 minutes in and the words Dash Cam have already lost all meaning to me
His artistic vision is to take advantage of the fact humans have a really hard time ignoring stuff we find irritating, and engagement=$.
It's a movie that exists to annoy and profit. The ultimate horror film
I DID THE EXACT SAME THING YOU DID WITH THE WRONG DASHCAM! I WAS SO CONFUSED AND SAT THERE WAITING FOR THE WOMAN FROM THE TRAILER TO SHOW UP! I'm dyinnggggg I thought I was the only one
For I moment I misread it as a Dashcon movie and I swear I lost ten years of my life
This movie feels like if The Blair Witch was filmed by an antivax Fred.
What sucks is that the ending monsters make for a cool horror movie! See why couldn't we get a good horror flick with stretch as our protag?
One good thing came out of all this... It reminded me that Honey Gold is a thing and turns out I had enough of it for a $30 Google Play gift card. So thanks Amanda, you've helped fun my Fate/Grand Order addiction!
Why does the most unlikeable character in a horror movie have to be the one to do all the badass demon-bashing and cool-headedness???
I love your "The Silence of the Lambs" reference 😂
I think the reason directors and producers defend their horrible choices in their works so much is cause they’re the only ones that can understand it.
I feel like the description of the movie just kept going, and going, and *going*, and I didn't even have to watch the whole movie. This seems... awful.
Did honey make her blur the amazing Spider-Man poster during the ad read??🤣 why is that so funny to me
Amanda, I just want you to know you're videos are the highlight of my day when I see a new upload.
a movie so bad that Amanda talks about another movie to avoid talking about it for a few moments.
I haven't watched it myself but after watching the video, I'm trying to convince myself that this headache of a film doesn't exist.
“Cah -Rick-ah-ter” is a new favorite way to say a word
I was pretty pissed when Stretch got killed. He was the only thing making the movie bearable.
London was more locked down most American cities. In Chicago it wasn't taken serious after the 1st month
Reminds me of “Five Across The Eyes”, an independent found footage film from 2006 where all five main characters are just like Annie in terms of idiocy and how grating they are to watch, (arguably worse than Annie), and all of them survive.
I saw that too. That wasn't a film, that was an endurance test.
And both films deal with “excretions” and shotgun-wielding maniacal women.
11:12 I paused here and suddenly found out that it's the ultimate Amanda face and posture
If this isn't just Russian street footage, I'm gonna be very disappointed
This is truly the worst Movie! The lead Actress is the most insufferable annoying human I think I have ever seen in my life. I watched the entire movie but I was surfing my phone because I was so annoyed but had to see how this garbage movie ended.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard “livestream from a moving vehicle” & went “well THAT’s not safe”
TBF i am Old
After watching this video that main actor’s TH-cam channel got recommended on my feed, and comments here are saying she actively stated herself that this role was more of a characture than an actual acting role… send help. I want to never see that demon’s face again 😟
“I needed some face lotion so I didn’t get the hose again.” Amanda, my love for you knows no bounds 😭😭😭
The Blumhouse version of dashcam made me feel physical pain that is worst than flu.
Imagine a car horror movie from the point of view of the evil car's dashcam
Imagine a scene where some characters are talking in front of the car and as the scene ends and the characters walk away the car's dashcam slowly turns towards one of the characters and the engine revvs
(Edit because i came up with another scene idea)
Near the beginning of the film a character accidentally reverses their car into the evil car. Then during the horror villain rampage the car spots the person who reversed into them and the car goes through it's dashcam footage to recognise the person and while the stranger is alone and exiting their car, the car goes top speed in reverse crushing the front of the car causing the strangers leg to be caught in the crushed car. The car then drives forwards turns around and hits the person so fast that their leg is ripped off.
it's like a modern day christine! i love it
Well now someone needs to make a Christine reboot with this concept
I'm gonna do this someday

I actually do too but it always felt like it went onnneee step too far in areas
@@AmandaTheJedi before covid, I would have ABSOLUTELY agreed.
can someone explain to me the connotation of Blumhouse? like Amanda talks about it with a sense of "everybody knows it is known for..." but I just don't know 😅
Blumhouse is basically famous (or infamous) for making a ton of horror flicks with varying degrees of success, but more times than not the budget for said movies is incredibly low so they still profit at the box office.
I've never wanted a character to die so much since King Joffrey.
Every word you said is true. It was a horrible experience of a movie and I never, ever, wish to see it again.
I clicked so fast. I was just watching some older videos and Amanda ur video quality has improved so much omg
