    Literally torpedoed the vote and prevented a meaningful vote on Gaza. Complicit in the continued war on Gaza by his actions. Absolute disgrace. His position IS untenable and he should resign.

      Agreed since he became the Primary speaker, he has been awful, compared to our previous speaker and other past speakers. He has been the worst speaker we have had in decades. He makes awful decisions and does not ever enforce the rules of the house either and let people get away with things.

      Labour's amendment was balanced and realistic, not emotive and impractical. Hoyle did the right thing morally but I suspect he's going to have to go and have a cup of tea now. It's all irrelevant anyway. Such is Britain's position nowadays.

      But it does not stop really the people themselves feeling like it needs to be stopped and should be represented in the vote for a potential amendment.

    Watched the whole day as it unfolded. The Labour amendment was totally unnecessary given it mirrored the SNP one. The upset caused to the SNP was understandable given it was their opposition day and the speakers decision was weird especially as when he did it he was warned of the circumstances that would arise by the leader of the SNP. The conservatives later took the opportunity to withdraw their amendment so as to cause chaos. Later accusations of Blackmail of the speaker started doing the rounds. Demands the speaker appear were ignored causing the walkout. He later appeared and gave his reasons for doing what he did. I saw no reason to doubt why he did it but, he was wrong. I think Labour " emotionally " blackmailed him by saying their M.P.'s were being threatened by constituents. The fact that Labour M.P.'s could simply vote for the SNP amendment and cover that problem never appeared into the speakers head. This day is a case of dirty politics by Labour and Conservatives. Wrong headed thinking by the speaker and SNP feeling they have been done wrong. The result of today? Labour have put their advances in Scotland in danger. Labour further alienating the muslim vote and probability the speaker will either resign or be forced out by SNP and conservatives

      You say Labour could vote for the SNP motion but equally the SNP could have voted for the Labour motion. They even said they supported it before it was actually introduced. I could understand why the SNP might feel agrieved at there motion being sidelined but at the end of the day they choose to put their party politics above actually doing anything practical that might help the situation in Gaza. The SNP showed themselves to be just as self interested as the Tories and Labour today and I think that will hurt them in the long run

    He didn't break and rules.
    Tories are annoyed because it stopped them stopping the snp motion
    SNP are angry because they didn't want the vote they where using Gaza for political point scoring.
    The labour motion allowed the vote to go through on what the SNP claim the wanted but they kicked off...
    The uproar is not because this was against the rules (it wasn't and perfectly acceptable) but because it hasn't been done before.
    So if you as a voter are annoyed by this your basically annoyed that the outdated house of parliament (where you can't call a liar a lair) did something forward thinking.

      @therichieboy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A ceasefire has to be based on a mutual agreement by both warring parties. Hamas have said they'll only agree to a ceasefire if Israel pull their troops out of Gaza. Israel won't agree to a ceasefire as long as Israeli hostages are being held in Gaza. All the parties get this. The Tories and SNP are on the back foot so have to take strong positions (ie appealing to polarised emotions). Labour have to deal with the nuances as they are effectively (although not actually) the party in charge.

    Labour shouldn’t have taken so long to call for a ceasefire. Tories caused a ruckus because they thought they could attack labour with it. SNP wanted to cause a divide in Labour because it will help them in a general election and the Lib Dem’s are now attacking the SNP for playing party politics because it will help them with a general election in Scotland..
