    Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.
    Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace, healing and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness - a global spiritual awakening.
    Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time.
    In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

    Often times people feel lonely because they feel they need someone else to feel whole. But, I believe that if people spend the time alone, discovering who they really are and what is really important, they find that they don't need someone else. That makes them better suited to having a meaningful relationship, rather than a string of bad ones, just trying to fill the void, of not feeling whole.

      You are perfect as you are. You don't need anybody to complete you. The idea of loneliness is a pretty new concept that has been popularized in the West during the most recent centuries. When you are feeling lonely you rather feel empty as your spiritual dimension is not yet deep enough.

      I experienced this recently. I've been in a romantic relationship for the past four years, and was clinging to her for a feeling of completeness and happiness. She had become such an important part to my story. After my awakening I began to realize that everything that I need to be happy is already here within me. I still love her, but my attachment to her withered away to nothing.

    *"Peace comes when we stop seeking for it"*

    • @DMZArkadus
      @DMZArkadus 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That is only true when you are seeking peace from a position of self importance (for example "I should have peace because i am better than other people and other people have peace") . Simply put you evaluate yourself continually and everytime you notice you dont have peace you create frustration, this happens because of impatience ("Why cant i have this peace now!"). Essentially you are self-sabotaging with the notion of attaining peace. Peace isnt attained, it is letting go.
      If you seek peace from a position of love you will find it and more.

I was searching with the mind, even though that timeless being was there the whole time perfectly invisible and just being as is. Let your mind search and hurt itself. Yes, I felt very similarly when I read that following sentence. It would feel exhausting, and imply that duality, light against darkness - summer doesn't 'defeat' winter by being stronger, it's all part of how things go.
      I suppose Eckhart only quoted one part of the whole thing for a reason, for its beauty - and we don't have to agree to all the sentences Camus wrote there.

When the switch finally turn on and you stop looking at yourself from a 1st person point of view to a 3rd person point of view everything changes. The "IT" don't matter, the "'IT" is not me. My physical forms short coming is having existential depression that affects the people around me, it seems nigh impossible for "me" to avoid that. All I want is a way out of the cycle of life and death and no matter how much I am in the present moment that will not change. I thank Eckhart for all the wonderful teachings he has given to humans around this world. But I'm afraid that they do not work for me, regardless of my knowledge of an inner eternal summer. I also know that there is an eternal winter within. That is not possible to escape for me.

    Eckhart's power is presence and what's beyond even presence. The words are good; they are often fine and clarifying - but not central. Jiddhu Krishnamurti spoke similar words, as does Mooji (among other teachers). The teachings (if they may be considered teachings) are quite familiar. They are not new. Countless people may be able to explain the teachings, may say what Eckhart does - yet their words wouldn't resonate with others because they speak only on an intellectual level.

    The reason why people resort to their ego when they are in an argument with someone based on opinions, is because whatever belief is behind their opinion has an ego attachment. For example "I believe this to be true" and if someone challenges that belief they have to question that maybe what they believe isnt true. When this thought process happens the identity behind the belief is challenged. Because if it was a simple case of changing what you believe, what is the difference from one belief to the next? It has an identity behind it, that the ego has attached to. A common identity is "I am greater than other people based on my own performance" for example if they meditate 10 times a day it signals the ego that they are improving themselves more than other people that dont meditate 10 times a day. In this case the ego has attached a comparison between themselves and other people then attributing actions they perform as "powerful" to its own identity. Essentially they are using performance of a spiritual idea to feel superior against other people. Religious people do this a lot.

      The ego will fight to protect this identity because it attributes power to the belief that it has already utilized and if it were to drop/change the belief than all power the belief has built in the ego would be nullified. The ego identity desires self-importance, people that live in their ego desire the same thing, this comes from many fears. Fear of death being the most common. If they have importance in being alive then they believe the universe will keep them alive because they are important. Among many other self-sustaining beliefs. The ego self-perpetuates this identity with people who fear forces that can take identities away from them. Most people have an identity with being alive and if you fear something that can take that identity away, then here comes the ego ready to control that person. Essentially through fear you give up control of your mind to the ego because you dont have the truth. If you dont have an identity, you cannot fear losing it and there will be no ego.

      People don't have egos. The idea of being a person is ego. The idea of being a person, who has an ego, is identification with an ego who has an ego, and no one in particular is identified with that.

    Just because we listen to Eckhart doesn't make us automatically ok with being alone. The reason why we suffer so much when we are alone is because our mothers have not given us enough touch when we were babies. Then as adults we suffer and it's a life time pain. But meditation is still the only path through all of this.
