If you must baton a larger piece of wood start toward the edge of the log instead of the center. This allows you to make smaller pieces and work your way in. Great video enjoy your camping
That's a great knife. I believe that is n695 is a good steel along the same as 14c28n N695 is supposed to hold a edge longer but is harder to sharpen. Like best to have diamond stones. I have more experience with N690. An that is great. So you have 5 more. What could be bad about that😊
To me, batoning makes no sense. If you’re in an area where you have 3-4” rounds, then there are also plenty of twigs, sticks and other smaller pieces. Why risk injury to self, your blade, and expend all that energy? For sport? Then people complain about damage to their blade or the knife isn’t good at batoning. How about you get the right tool for the job, say, a hatchet? I’ve built countless natural fires in the bush and never once made feather sticks or felt the need to beat the hell out of my knife. I guess guys like fiddling with their wood. Lol. Anyway, without a doubt, the Joker Lynx is the best damn all around knife for the money!✌️
I can say I'm 55 was a boyscout and a army Ranger. I was even part of Ranger school desert phase. Years of camping, hunting, and fishing. The only time I batoned wood we had a new scout master. I was chopping wood. He got scared and took our ax. He later found out my parents house was heated by wood. We split wood all year long. I understand batoning for a test. But youtubers acts like it's a skill, a requirement of some kind. I don't even use a ax unless we have to feed a stove. A saw and a small knife is my SOP I really don't understand it. An they will defend this insanity with all kinds of crazy.

Let people do what they want with their knife.
