- The Walking Dead All Season Finales Ranked Worst To Best, In this video I will be looking at all the final episodes/season finales from the walking dead season 1-11 and reviewing, breaking down, explaining and ranking them from worst to best. Talking about what I liked from each season finale and what I hated from each episode. Be warned there will be spoilers as I talk about the plot of each episodes who dies and I also talk about the series finale of the walking dead also. So be warned for the ending of the walking dead/ The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 24.

I have already done season premieres a couple of months ago.
I almost did mid season finales in this video but it would of made it too long. So could make a separate video about it
season 8 had the best finale tbh imo. it gave me goosebumps from beggining to end, ricks speech, carls letter, the intro where everyones getting prepared.. such a nice finale. And not to mention after negan was supposedly killed
I think the location of some random field was a little weird. In the comics the final battle was at the hilltop.

The only bad thing about it was Negan saying "He took it like a champ" which automatically narrowed it down to like 3 people. I did like the discussion in the community about who was gonna get their head bashed in.
I never felt that the line did that for me. It completely went over my head. I did like that when they filmed the deaths they made a bunch of fake outs to keep us off who actually died. I remember seeing the Maggie death before and going in thinking she was the death.

That was extremely smart of them. I feel like Maggie dying with her unborn baby would be too much.
Yeah I remember thinking they really messed up when I saw the supposed “leak” super smart of them to do that.
I feel like if HBO picked up TWD instead of AMC, it really could of helped the S3 and 8 finales a lot with budget. They really could of made for more grander scale battles and set pieces to make those finales better in a way. On par with the final battles seen in GOT seasons specifically.
HBO would of been the perfect place for the walking dead. The show really suffered from budget reason on AMC.
Season 11 finale I enjoyed it but I felt like it was kinda rushed
how was it rushed?
The last episode is well timed but i know what you mean by rushed i felt like ep 1 to 5 felt kinda rushed but 6 7 and 8 got better in pacing thank god as i was worried on ep 5 when was out that the whole lats part is gonna be rushed
I definitely think the final episode could of been two episodes. One for dealing with Pamela and one for the walkers

good ranking, my fav finale is the season 4 finale
It was such a perfect episode and really builds up to a satisfying cliffhanger that works.
My opinion is so different from what I remember(upon starting to re-watch, some opinions have changed for 1-4 so far). My current list:
11. Season 3 “Welcome To The Tombs”
I remember this being one of the best episodes, but the better fights happened earlier and after, so this gets last place for Andrea's terrible death for sure.
10. Season 9 finale “The Storm”
Cool setting episode, and a nice _cooldown_ to closeout The Calm Before. But it really should have been a 90-minute finale altogether.
9. Season 6 finale “Last Day On Earth”
Pretty much everyone agrees this episode is ruined by the cliffhanger. Season 7's premiere even recaps it's highlights.
8. Season 1 Finale “TS-19”
Mid-tier character drama episode setting in, but still decent to close out the start.
7. Season 10 finale “Here's Negan”
I can't put this any higher. Negan and this episode is great, but every other finale is pretty much peak.
6. Season 2 Finale “Beside The Dying Fire”
Very iconic TWD episode. But not as good as Better Angels. Missed opportunity to combine it into one long finale.
5. Season 11 finale “Rest In Peace”
This episode gave me chills. But how is this supposed to be a series finale if it's also an ad for the spin-offs?
4. Season 4 finale “A”
Ah yes, I recently rewatched this, and it is as great as it gets. Rick taking out Joe and The Claimers is absolutely ruthless. This is also the first episode that births the start of Murder Rick, his transformation into Shane he'll go on throughout season 5 :)
3. Season 8 finale “Wrath”
People really don't give enough credit on how good The Saviors' arc actually is. This part 2 finale right here is one of the best episodes in the entire series with SO many payoffs. From Rick finally slashing Negan's throat. Maggie not getting over it and wanting revenge. Eugene's twist to being good again. There's so much to unpack here it's insane. And Carl's death was at least rectified here with a proper sendoff.
2. Season 7 finale “The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life”
From a pure standpoint, this is one of Negan's funniest episodes. That puts points very high. Negan about to bash Carl, Rick's insistence to kill him, Sasha's death, Negan saying he slit his **** down Rick's throat. There's so much to unpack, and it goes strong from there.
1. Season 5 finale “Conquer”
I can't express how happy it is to see Rick and Morgan reunite in this episode. We need more episodes like this. Why is this so high? The best? Because it's Rick's complete transformation into Shane! This episode right here pivots the whole survival on the road into the communities, this episode is the Midpoint of the series, this episode also delivers one of, if not, the most satisfying Rick drama content(with Pete) in the whole series. It brings it back to the binge feel Season 2 had. Nothing can top that.
Good list and reasoning can’t really argue against it.

Season 3 to me was almost perfect, the only thing that kept it back for me is I think they killed a lot of characters off too early that season like Axel, Merle and Andrea
Characters in that season dropped like flies. Andrea should of not died her death was so dumb also.
Nah Hobo Bro, Season 3 was one of the best finales. Personally it was season 1

I think I’m the only one who doesn’t hate the season 3 finale. Yeah, Andrea dying wasn’t good, but overall I would argue it was solid.
As worst season finale’s go I’d say it’s either season 7 or 8.
For season 7 there is some good stuff, but from the moment we get stupid Sasha death onwards it all downhill. And as an action sequence, the battle for Alexandria was just… bad! There’s no sense of who is where, somehow Hilltop and the Kingdom get inside Alexandria when the Saviors and Scavengers should be guarding the entrance. Oh, and those Sasha flashbacks really irked me as it felt like that episodes director was shoving a relationship down my throat.
For the hilltop and kingdom getting in Alexandria, I thought they did it by using the sewers as Maggie used to live there so she organised everyone to get in.
@@HoboDucksdefinitely an interesting theory. But if that was the case why didn’t Gimple have Maggie mention this? Sadly I believe the simple answer is Gimple didn’t care about the logistics of it and just had it happen because it was cool.
I almost forgot season 11’s finale, but the more I think about it the more I hate it. As an ending to not just the season but the series it feels a bit cheap and lazy. The only characters who die are Jules and Luke, 2 characters who didn’t show up till 2 episodes prior to the finale. And then Rosita, who I guarantee was only killed off and would’ve lived otherwise if it wasn’t for her actor wanting her character offed. Mix that in with a lot of illogical stuff [like how did Judith, a girl who is bleeding able to push a door closed, how how zombie Lance made it to the gate], the shows budget feeling cheap, poor writing, the variant walkers having next to no impact to the story, and a non ending ending and you get an episode that makes me feel more depressing than mad.
You are right that is probably what happened he did not care.
I agree for the final episode we needed way more deaths at least 2 more I feel like maybe Jerry and Aaron. the variant walkers should of been a bigger part of the season they are very last minute

I don’t think they should of really been in the season. The variants needed their own season. The final season really feels like 3 seasons smooshed into one

I’d put season 11 series finale as the worst in my opinion.
The Reapers were a giant waste and ruined the pacing of the season. Had they skipped them all together then the Commonwealth could have been done much better.
The reapers got done dirty by AMC cancelling the show. They was originally meant to be the season 11 villain and the commonwealth was meant to be the season 12 villain. I definitely think the show would of been better if it got 2 seasons to end the show instead of one big one that was filmed during covid

The cliffhanger never bothered me because I didn't start watching The walking Dead until this show was like on the 10th season I didn't have to wait months to see who died I just click next episode and the rest of the episode is a masterpiece seeing rick going from all confident to completely shattered in like 30 minutes. seeing them get herded by the saviors is some of the most terrifying TV I've ever seen
That is the best way to see this show I think. It does work best watching all in one.

Solid end to the first season it leaves you wanting to see more which is what every first season of a show should do.

Very good episode imo when the governor goes crazy Andrea’s plot is good and well acted. Carl shooting that kid.

Amazing episode so intense and I personally don’t mind the cliffhanger

Good finale to the show pacing issues at times but very emotional and sets up the spin-offs very well.

One of my favourite episodes in the whole show I think it’s a great story not action packed which is good. Just a very well made and acted episode

Best ending for the best season. The first Walker horde on the show the group fighting the walkers in the cars is cool to me. The barn getting set alight gives the episode a different feel as well. No major deaths which is fine considering we get two side deaths. Ricks speech at the end is cold. And sets up michonne and the prison. The perfect finale
Great list and good explanations. For season 2 being such an underrated season it’s ending was just phenomenal.

I think you missed the point of the season 9 finale. Everyone bitches for years about the only time anything happening being in episode 1 and 16, they change it up and people bitch anyway
You forgot mid season finales and all the other deaths sprinkled in the middle of seasons
I think the finale of season 9 is pointless for the story. As in episode 1 of the next season they do the same thing of enter the whisperer land and that starts the war. I Think it would of been better to maybe end season 9 with the pikes or at least end it with alpha seeing them cross the boarder and that starting the war. The episode can really be skipped and that is not something you want for your final episode of the season.
The mid seasons got so bad by the end it felt more like instead of both them being important it was only 9 was important and 8 was really big set up.
Season 11 finale is absolutely horrific. Probably top 3 worse. Only good part is Ricks return. Other than that. Good list.
How would you write the ending of the show?
I do have to say the last episode felt rushed and needed to be two maybe but I think it did tie up most of the on going story lines.

It’s meant to be this massive grand finale of this amazing show that has been airing since 2010 but it just sets up the spin off shows instead and imagine you was a casual fan who had no idea about the spin offs you’d be left wondering a lot! Rositas death is phatetic and simply for shock value to add in a big death in the finale. Taking a mother away from their child! Eugene and Gabriel’s story is probably done so there’s no more character development for them being the closest to Rosita. Variant walkers were cool but that’s simply it as they had 10 other seasons to expand upon them and give it a origin etc. then finally they connect bombs and blow up some of the commonwealth to get rid of a good even sized hoard…. For the finale of the entire show it was poor but of course that’s just my opinion. Haven’t watched it in a while so might be forgetting some big parts

Season 6 best finale!
It is an almost perfect episode. Not as bad as the reviews give it.
Imo season 11 finale was a decent season finale but a quite bad series finale. A series finally should leave you wanting more but satisfied with what you got. Like the end of the comics did. What we got left me wanting more, but because i want something bigger for it to end on. I just felt like “this is it? No big character death, no really unique or intense action compared to some episodes in the past, and we dont even get to see a single scene of them running the commonwealth the right way?” They could have done a lot better.
It could of been more final I agree and it was a shame we did not get the comic ending as that is the perfect way to end the story. Hopefully when the franchise dies we get that ending for the universe
