Excellent video and thanks for the history lesson. We came across SASCO about 5 months ago by complete accident, and as a ghost town lover I was in heaven. We tried again in early February, but turned around at the water crossing after watching a truck nearly get stuck in the high water. Thank you again, your videos are truly exceptional.
Those water crossings can be tricky. No real way of knowing the condition before leaving. 🙁 But hey! Awesome on running across Sasco by accident! I bet it was a happy moment. 👍
Another great off road adventure! The camping videos are my favourite but a close second are these drives to places I likely won’t be able to get to. It was nice to hear Slim again and thanks to Amy for the well done behind the scenes work! Btw….nice t-shirt.
Thanks! You’re in luck then about the camping videos because we have more coming! Should have one on Monday in fact and just got back this morning from yet another that will be out in a couple weeks. 😉
Glad to see Glenn and Slim "on the road again"! That ICBM silo was wild. Loved your references to the idiocy that spawns all that graffiti, as well as that short clip of Doc Holliday from Tombstone. Yes i sure did miss the road trips, thanks for a great comeback! 💫🏜️✨🌵
This was cool, thanks for sharing. My friend sent this to me - we grew up in north Tucson together and used to go out here to party in high school. We just called it "Red Rocks" due to the nearby water tower/exit/small farming community at I-10 which has now grown into a full on housing development. I had many...let's just say, formative experiences, in that desert!
That's a really cool loop. Sasco looks amazing. I'd seen it in a book but sadly there weren't any pictures so had no idea how it looked. The big question is, where can we get the Cactus Atlas shirts?
What a fun little trip. I'm disappointed I didn't make that trip when I lived in Tucson those moons ago. I enjoyed the Silverbell Copper Mine or remnants of the best. Nice to have you back, Slim!
I’m inclined to like Slim and wonder how he works because we travel a lot by car and his ability to navigate is impressive. We missed the Rooster Cogburn ostrich farm not knowing how interesting it is and Slim might have informed us about it? We enjoy your videos and we are falling in love with Arizona the more we visit enough I want to move there. Thank you 🙏
😅 Slim would love to help, but he's actually just us researching, writing a script, and using a text to speech tool to create his character. We DO have an old video of Rooster Cogburn, though. Emphasis on old video. 😂
We've been to the museum a number of times and it's one of our faves. Nothing quite like it. It's definitely one of our goals to film but it would take both of us there as it's essentially a tour underground, so you only get one shot to capture everything, and we're not the types to ruin an experience/tour by blabbing into a camera. Thankfully I filmed Glenn turning the key when we recently went in Dec with family. I've been wanting him to be able to do that for ages! 😊
Stumbled across your channel from instagram. This video peaked my interest because I live in Picture Rocks, about 8 miles from where you started. Then to my surprise, you passed me in my red work truck!😂😂
First and foremost, gotta say that adding Slim AI's voice as an interactive tool is genius! He's kinda like the guy that will truly say what he's thinking...no filter! lol...wink wink! Not that Glenn isn't great by himself, but it adds a little more to the videos...and no one else is doing this that I've seen. This was a fun one for sure!
Arizona seco como o nordeste do Brasil o nome combina com o ambiente excelente cara então vamos conhecer o velho oeste americano kkkkkkk parabéns bom trabalho cactus obrigado 😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
For the routing, is it OnX? What subscription do you have? OnX app says this loop is pretty hard, yet how do you feel(rate) about the difficulty of terrain in person? After watching your video, I want to follow the route with kids. Thank you!
Yup! We use OnX Offroads and just the Premium subscription. I think Glenn found the route pretty easy with the exception of few spots, but was still able to make the loop in 2WD. I would say having some clearance would be a good thing. But a 4/10? Not really. We have a video coming out Thursday that also gets rated a 4/10 and they are vastly different, so... the difficulty rating is one thing we find a bit misleading at times (then again, trail conditions can change).
I'm a local from Red Rock and have explored every inch of the route you took and more. I just wanted to share that the remains of the jail is real close to the hotel in-between the smelter and hotel. Also, the dwellings where most people lived with direction from your video would be around the spot where the last cow crossed the road on the right side of road (south side). There are a few remnants left there but hardly anything at all. Also did you know that the road you drove on between Silverbell Mine and Sasco Smelter was actually once the old railroad bed that a train traveled going back and forth daily with supplies, water, and workers? I found an old gun too off the beaten path about a 1/2 mile from the road just north of the Sasco that from 'ametuer' research done on it shows to be a Smith & Wesson safety hammer less 32 cal 5shot pistol, aka the "lemonsqueezer" believed to be the model dated front 1890-1910. Pretty interesting area all around ! Advice to anyone making the treck out, do NOT come during monsoons ... trust me... speaking from experience . Have fun and safe travels!
Sometimes it feels so amazing that something so old can still be found. 👍 Thanks for all the info and yeah... driving most any offroad trail during monsoon time can be a risk.
I have just started watching your videos. Great job of audio and video. I'm heading to explore the southwest at the end of May and have an interest in primitive camping. Is there any dispersed or BLM type camping along this loop in this video? Thanks.
Thanks! As far as that sort of camping, we're not entirely sure ourselves as it isn't something we do just yet. Hopefully someone else can comment with that knowledge. Sorry about that.
Hi. Yesterday we headed to Sasco from Tucson. Once off the paved road, we came to the river crossing. One ATV made it across, but 2 pickup trucks decided they didn't want to risk it, so neither did we. Is there a way to reach Sasco coming from the other end of the loop, thus avoiding the river crossing? We checked several maps, but could not find an alternate road, coming from Phoenix. Thanks.
If it’s the place where I crossed in the video where you had the problem, I imagine you could start at the southern end of the route I too off of Avara valley down by the missile silo, then take that same road I did into sasco. Then you’d have to go back the way you came and not make a loop out of it. Of course, if I am understanding your dilemma correctly. So essentially trace my steps in my video, go to Sasco, then turn around and go back the way you came. But, I do not know the area well and if that is not what you meant, would then resort to a tool like ON X to look for alternate roads crisscrossing the area and start exploring, which might be a fruitless endeavor. Wish I had better advice, but another viewer may see this and offer a better recommendation.
I spent about four to five hours total, but that includes all the stops, the filming, flying a drone, changing batteries, etc…. Could take less time if you spend less time at each location.
Thanks…i always wondered where that road went when it says Red Rock 20 miles because Red Rock is in the opposite direction so I thought it was a trap and i would end up like “ When the hills have eyes”
You missed some entertaining things out there. Or you kept them to yourself? Which can be a good thing. I find new things out in that area everytime I go.
And.......... I don't think that "river" was the river "Santa Cruz" which gets muddy after heavy rains and several feet deep. Very prounounced dip in the road shortly before the Red Rocks dairy (?) farms. Dig the channel!
The AI crap scares hell out of me because of the possible evil that can be done with it. However your use of it is super cool. Well done brother, stay safe
Oh, I hear you. Some of the deep fakes and nefarious uses of AI scares me too. Especially thinking about the future and the advancement of it. But hey, if the 80s could have a talking Trans Am, what is the harm of writing a little script and running it through text to speech for a truck? 😅
Oh, please believe us. We've made comments aplenty over the course of time on our channel about modern strip mining and our opinion of it. It wasn't the focus of this particular video though. There's really only so many times one can mention how much of an eyesore it is without sounding like a crabby person. 😅 But it does break our hearts when we see it.

Thanks for the great video of beautiful America and being a true American buying American supporting America !
Thank you! 👍
Silverbell Mine & Sasco Loop are inspiring. The views are amazing as are the mountains. Slim's narration is on point. Love you guys. Take care.
Slim had a lot to say... think all the time sitting in the driveway got him worked up a bit. 😂
The Mountains are striped!!! How can you call that Beautiful???? @ susanasalinas4273

We always love slipping in a Tombstone clip whenever we can. 😅 We hope soon that we'll be able to have a full video on the Titan Missile Museum.
So cool 😎.
Thank you! 👍
Nice to have you back Slim, great video great adventure Cactus
Thank you kindly! 😄
Excellent video Glenn & Amy, excellent!
Thank you so very much! 😊
Yaya Slim you ole delectable Darlin 🥰 good to see Glenn and yourself out n about, doing what you guys do best, Hiya Amy 😁🥰
Love always ✨💛🍀
Hahah! I'm pretty sure if Slim could blush, he would be right now. Thanks! 😊

Okay, now that sounds like a fun place to hang out in those years. Far more interesting than where we had in my high school days. Hahah! 😅
I love the open road
There's just something about it, right? 😄
Shoot yeah! Glad to have ol Slim back. Good trip yall!
Thank you! Slim is back to his adventuring and he couldn't be happier. (So is Glenn 😅)

What a fun little trip. I'm disappointed I didn't make that trip when I lived in Tucson those moons ago. I enjoyed the Silverbell Copper Mine or remnants of the best. Nice to have you back, Slim!
Slim is happy to be back as well. 😄
That as brilliant, I enjoyed the Ghost town, you can imagine people staying in the Rockland Hotel, very
informative 😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! The hotel was quite the cool part. 😊
Your slim videos are so funny! Love the commentary on the graffiti- sad but true- another fun video! Thanks!
Thanks! We have a lot of fun with Slim. 😂😅

Slim,
I really enjoy your sense of humor! AND Wait...What?? Is Glen wearing Cactus Atlas Merch?
He is! It's mostly just a test shirt at this point to see quality and such. We're working on some stuff, though. 😊

There is another cemetery approximately 6 miles up the road near the silver bell mine.
We look forward to going back and seeing a couple things like this that we missed some time. Thanks for the tip.

Whoever smelt it, dealt it. (It was probably Slim.) A pretty cool trip. I’m with you on the graffiti. Ugh! Maybe Sam Elliot should kick some butt!
🤣🤣 Yeah, not sure why some of the graffiti has so be so... thoughtless and crude. Real shame. And Slim does run on gas soooo... 😂
Gonna go try this trail today. Hope it’s alright in my Nissan Rogue lol
Let us know how it goes!
It makes me want to get out there and spray paint! Just kidding!😂😂
The AI voice is awesome! Love the references to dumbasses who’ve grafitti’d so much of it.

I guess I’m not ready for AI. My preference is just to have Glen do all the talking.
Aww, sorry about that. 😞
It's unsettling how you glazed over the carnage of what the mine did to those mountains!!! You never showed them!

Just discovered your channel and love your videos but not all the unnecessary talking (sorry, just being honest)
All good. Everyone had different likes and dislikes. 😅
What happen to your camera shy girlfriend and why are you talking to Dark Vader lol ?
I'm still here working on the channel with Glenn. 👍😄
