- In this Total War Warhammer Realm of the Wood Elves DLC multiplayer battle, the Warriors of Chaos and the Wood Elves of Athel Loren fight to the death in a massive 3v3 Faction War. Indypride from milkandcookiesTW shows a classic matchup between skirmishing and melee rushing, and shows some cool tricks with the Hellcannon in this Total War Warhammer multiplayer battle gameplay.

I wish more casters had magic based melee attacks like the spell singers. Watching a lord of change get most of its kills by jumping on people is strange.
I feel you, but I really like the Lord of Change animations. The Tzeentch lightning rod slam is cool, there's one where his tentacle staff wraps around an enemy and he slams them into the ground, and his AOE attacks cover so much ground and gib so many it looks really satisfying. Ideally, once Lore of Tzeentch gets added he will be able to actually burn things alive with Eldritch fire spells. But I have no problems with his melee animations. I would DEFINITELY like to see some more melee animations for the human casters though, right now they're all copy pastad from regular sword infantry
Is it just me, or do Sarthoreal and Ancient Treeman Lord have the same model? Look at their staffs...
I assume you mean skeleton and animations. Same model would mean they literally look the same, and I dont think I have to point out the differences between a giant Bird daemon and a Tree lol. But no, they do not even remotely have the same skeleton or animations. Their movement is completely different, their animations are completely different. That's one of my favorite parts about the Wood Elves DLC, you can tell all of their Tree monster units had a lot of extra care and attention put into them. They look, feel, and move uniquely, especially Durthu and the Treemen. But yeah, Sarthorael also has a unique skeleton and set of animations, nothing in the game shares either of those things with him
I wish every unit had animations. That’s my only real complaint about the warhammer games...

Dragons are seriously underpowered, and for that matter Champion-type Heroes are way too overpowered. I guess I could see four Manticores take down a Forest Dragon, but not without two or three of them being torn to shreds in the process.
Reverend Belial lol you are wrong mate. Nothing in the game can win air fight against 4 manticores alone
Dragons are underpowered and undercosted currently IMO, but no thats like 4800 gold worth of units engaging a single lord. Of course 4 exalted heroes should be able to quickly murder a single unit that costs 2,000 if its isolated like that

I Dont remember calling it a feature, just said its a trick you can use to get a bit more DPS. It takes skill to manually guide hell cannon shots and prevents you from microing any of your other troops while you're doing it. And despite being widely known in the competitive community is not banned in tournaments, because it's not overpowered. It makes a mediocre unit good, for one of the weaker factions in MP.
This game looks like it would be so much fun, but I can't afford it at the moment, especially with all of the DLC. I'll unfortunately have to wait for a sale before I can buy this game. I just recently found your videos and they have convinced me that this is definitely a game I would really enjoy. Love your commentary on the battles.

Also I hope you don't mind me asking but what can you tell me about Chaos in this game? I always love playing Chaos in Dawn of War, but I was always disappointed that each aspect of Chaos didn't get their own factions or research tech. I am a relatively casual Warhammer fan so man knowledge of this stuff is pretty sparse.

The battles are way too short. You got a 3 on 3 battle with huge armies and the video is about 15 minutes. And the video is about 15 minutes because you used the slow-motion-function. I'm a huge warhammer-fan and played every total war game and was hoping for warhammer: total war. I like the game but the battles in older Total War games were more about tactics. I know that Warhammer is about characters and heroes and fantasy shit and that's cool but the tactic-element is gone. Oh and the mages are mostly underpowered, especially the mages of the empire. And why can a mage of the empire summon a manticore? It's a beast of chaos, doesn't make much sense to me. Hoping for some new cool races but I think CA ends it with the free Bretonnia dlc.
Everytime I see Sarthorael in action, i'm getting hype for the other Great Daemons of Chaos. Nice battle and commentary as always!

Man excellent job, I've never seen a TW:W battle report showcased so well, or this game looking so good. Are you using any mods in this or is it just in-game settings? Also are those blood effects from the blood DLC you can buy, or something else?

I love how OP Archaon is in the campaign, but how shitty he is in the MP. But then again, you can make almost any lord immortal in the campaign.
he's really not bad in warhammer 2 mp at all. Slayer of Kings gives him burst damage potential that very few lords can attain. he was pretty underwhelming in warhammer 1 but a pretty solid choice in a lot of matchups now for game 2

@@owo1744 he's expensive for sure, but for one of the best duelists in the game and the fact that you dont have to buy a caster separately, you expect to have to pay a lot for that

hey milkandcookies I've watched a lot of your videos and this is my first time commenting. I've played a few matches against wood elves and I've found that dragon ogres are great at destroying tree kin and ents :)
Yeah they are! Halberds can be too. We opted for aerial superiority and that cost us in the ground game against their monsters

What about this "trick" of hellcannons? U can manually guide them and reset timer?! Wtf!!! It's already gr8 machine and u can "boost" it further? Crap...
They're actually kind of poor in most situations in multiplayer. Very expensive and cant shoot once the melee fight begins, you only have time to do maybe 2 manual shots before the battle lines clash. And when you're manually guiding them you cant focus on microing your troops. Doing manual aiming makes a mediocre unit decent, it really isnt that strong
I'm late but I'm seeing people saying it's not fair four manticores can kill a dragon. I understand lore wise that isn't accurate, but it's a game that also has statistics and cost. Four units stat heavy but with a high cost can kill one unit that doesn't match in stat or price line. Some people play for lore, some people play it like tabletop and play to win.
Whatever your thoughts, another great video. Fun to watch while I play campaign.

I have a good CPU and a strong GPU. Game runs quite well for me. My full computer specs are on my About page on the channel

milkandcookiesTW normally it's fine but in larger battles, 3v3 and 4v4s, my fps drops fast. into the 20s for 4v4 games

No offense taken lol, but he suffers from the same kind of problems all the original lords do. They are underwhelming and less unique compared to their newer counterparts
What camera mode do you use to record these videos? Your camera work is by far the best in any TWW videos, and I love your stuff. But I have been using the debug camera lately, and I find it gives me random issues with zoom speed. On some maps its so slow I can even get to ground level, while on other maps its so fast I cant even see anything.
You can adjust the speed of your camera by using Page up and Page down keys on your keyboard., so if its going too fast as get low to the ground slow it down by tapping Page Down a few times. I dont use a camera mod, just the default camera for replays. And I use debug camera when I play. Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it!

Welp, looks like I'm quitting out of every battle vs chaos until that bug is fixed.
Think you're overhyping its impact. Being able to manually fire artillery much faster than default fire rate has existed in Total War since Shogun 2. It requires much more micromanagement and prevents you from even looking at your army and moving troops while you do it. And its never been banned in any Total War tournaments. Because while it can be good, it isnt gamebreaking or game winning in the VAST majority of situations, and there are clear downsides to doing it (like not being able to actually move your army). Not to mention it takes a lot of skill and time to actually land manually fired shots

i find that forsaken are really good against wildwood rangers. Due to the rangers low armor and the forsaken's strong attack stats
This was AWESOME!! I've only found your channel today and as an avid TW: Warhammer fan I love this. I haven't been able to play since Wood Elves got released and I wasn't going to get them but god they look like fun! Keep this stuff up man, I'm gonna run out of videos to watch soon!!
As for my hopes for future DLC with Warhammer, I'm praying for Lizardmen. They release that and my life will be complete!!

Exalted Heroes are a bit better and a bit more expensive, but tbh I havent really paid much attention to their stats

No offense mate, but you are using an exploit since it is clearly not intended and then broadcasting it as a tip. How about just bug reporting it?

Edit2: And this is what actually pisses me off, Legend would do this to climb the leaderboard claiming it is 'good for the game' to use bugs/cheese to get devs involved (Bullshit). But you not recognizing this as an exploit.... Sorry mate..

I do use manual targeting. That is not the issue, the issue is that switching between manual and automatic targeting makes the cannon shooting twice as fast which may not be gamebreaking, but still an exploit in the sense that it is using a broken mechanic (bug) in order to get more out of an unit.
If it takes skill or not doesn't really matter.

Yeah you could certainly make the argument its an exploit. But exploit just means to make full use of and derive maximum benefit from something. Its not banned in tournaments, it doesnt make Chaos an unbalanced or OP faction in any way. I dont personally have a problem with it

My teammates had at least one. You have a limited amount of gold and Chaos units are expensive. Cant afford everything. I opted for Hellcannon and aerial dominance instead

Orion isn't very good currently. Female glade lord offers buffs to range units, along with arrow of kurnous and prey of anath Raema, which are VERY powerful spells. On the back of a dragon, glade lords can tear it up and cause massive damage, along with causing fear and terror. Orion is mediocre in both melee and range, and his abilities just don't cut it.
I think he was talking about the male glade lord though, who is definitely inferior to female

I think that hellcanon loss made the Chaos gods pretty angry.It could do wonders against the backlines of the WoodElves that were filled with archers.Great decision by the Elves to rush though.Zero panic,they moved just enough for their archers to be in range and did what Wood Elves do best.Shooting the crap out of things.
Yeah Wood Elves team worked very well together, as did our flyers. Just didnt have enough dedicated to quickly taking out Treekin and Durthu, and as always Wildwood Rangers were a problem

How so? Wood Elves won, and they had a lot of units left over too. One Hellcannon shot definitely wasnt the difference in the battle
