    I was surprised how easily this worked. I had thought of putting the socket over the valve, but I couldn't think how to hammer it in. Thanks a million!!

    The first one is not a pcv valve, it's just a elbow connector. Don't know why it list as 2 pcv valve at the parts store.

    I used a long flat bade to pry old one out. 19MM socket to tap it in with a 10" adjustable wrench on top. and knocked it home with hammer. Thank you!

    Great Explanation on the tricky aspects of this Rear PCV valve location. Extra good were the tips on Releasing the Clips and reinstalling the metal valve using a steel pipe with a socket. 5 STARS *****

    2nd comment - just replaced the Rear PCV valve. Was in fair shape considering 159k miles on the 2011 Enclave. I put a small amount of silicon (dielectric) grease around the portion that goes into the engine. I was able to tap it in using a very small hammer. I also drilled out the holes on the new valve using the 5/64 and 7/64 drill bits recommended elsewhere. So far the Enclave runs well and the idle is a little smoother than before.

      Why do you have to drill a new valve, why is the new valve not already correct

    Thanks very much, well explained, helped me a lot, I don’t know why the one supposed to be the 1st PCV valve is called PCV valve when is just a 45 degrees elbow there’s nothing inside but a hole from in to out, wide open which never will clog and should never be replaced, but as I did not know until I inspected it, but it’s okay, I had already bought it, very nice video.

    Just wondering if there is some software flash needs to be done from delaer after replacing spark plugs n pcv valve? After replacing both i am experiencing rough ride not as in shaking at idle but its like using more power to move during drive n plus power steering is stiff. Any thoughts? I do want to mention that i made the pcv valve holes bigger , which i saw in another video top one using 7/64 and bottom two 5/64 drill bit.

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also know about making their holes in the PCV valves bigger and that should be no problem and you should not have to have your computer re-flashed when changing them out right off the top of my head I have no idea why it’s running a little rough is there any engine codes?

    • @syedfaz26
      @syedfaz26 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mr_Goody yes, B2AAA, P0122, P0223 and P0507 which i think are related to throttle body. I did remove throttle body n cleaned it with TB cleaner as it was super dirty but didn't disconnect the battery.

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I apologize that it has took me so long to get back to you the first code is just a generic code meaning that your scanner may not be 100% compatible with the car it really means nothing the next codes means that your throttlebody is either dirty or needs a throttlebody sensor and that’s what the last code means to so your problem lies within your throttlebody you may need an idle sensor a throttlebody sensor or simply to clean your throttlebody please let me know what you find out.

    Can bad pcv cause p1174 code on the 08 acadia?

  • @niklee6872
    @niklee6872 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Old video but my Acadia have around 190k and today it leaked most of the oil out of it and when I take the oil cap or oil dipstick out even the hose connecting the front pcv valve off I’m getting a lot of pressure on those. I can’t find the leak when I filled it back with oil does this seem like it could be my problem

    • @Mr_Goody

      One aftermarket option is Standard Motor Products V518. This is the metal valve with 3 holes in it. Was $21 at O'Reillys Auto. Just installed in my 2011 Enclave without issues.

  • @alinfs50
    @alinfs50 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have gmc acadia 2013 Denali. I noticed little engine oil inside the intake air hose near throttle body. It's coming from pcv elbow to pcv hose into intake air hose. I feel no problem in my car no black smoke. Only notice little oil in intake air hose. What should I fix?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would clean the throttlebody change the PCV valves and make sure that the hoses are not clogged those are the first things I would try.

    • @alinfs50
      @alinfs50 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mr_Goody can you explain which hoses you are talking about clogged?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of the intake hoses.

    • @rschneid1996
      @rschneid1996 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to change the PCV valve in the rear of the engine. A number of other videos recommend increasing the PCV inlet and outlet hole sizes via drilling to prevent the holes from clogging up with oil.

    • @rschneid1996
      @rschneid1996 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, you won't have smoke per se but the oil collects on the Intake Valves. As there no fuel vapor flowing over the valves the oil can build up enough to block the intake ports. I cleaned out enough if the oil coating on my Enclave using Seafoam Upper Engine Cleaner but took me a while to realize the problem. Also, too much oil in the combustion chamber can cause a coating on and premature failure of the Catalytic Converter.

  • @Brantel.

    Actually neither of these are traditional PCV valves. The one on the front is just a plastic elbow. The one on the back is just a breather vent/orifice. There is no valve inside of either one of them. Both are hollow.
