    I just now finally got my scooter running again.
    I've been watching a bunch of videos and I don't think my diagnostics were getting me anywhere.
    Bought a CDI and as I now know that wasn't the problem.
    Took the stator and flywheel/magneto off yesterday and there was rust on the inside magnets of the flywheel.
    So I left it overnight in Evaporust and about 20 minutes in an oven from cold to 300 degrees.
    Cleaned the mild surface flash rusting with electrical silicone and wiped off - looks like new again.
    But. The most important part. I spliced in ( edit: just a female bullet connector ) an $8 Amazon pick up coil and now I have spark again.
    Genuine Buddy 125. I think they might be the only scooter that allows you to buy the pick up coil separately ( but not from PGO ) .
    The gap went from loose to very snug when using a debit card.
    Now to see if the vacuum piston I replaced has worked too - lost spark as soon as I replaced it!

    Sir I have a 150 chinese scooter that just wasn't making enough juice to keep the all the lights and accessories on. One of the yellow wires was putting out great vulkyage as your video showed however the other yellow wire was runnung low. so i have ordered 2 news and they both are the same. Frustrated i9 have ordered a 11 pole upgrade. Testing it it has 3 yellow wires instead of 2. To my surprise 2 of the wires have great voltage but the 3rd has the sane low voltage as the one on the 8 coil 3 stator. I am confused as to why all these stators are doing the same thing.

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello my friend It sounds like you may be experiencing a problem with your scooter's charging system. If you have tested multiple stators and are still experiencing low voltage output on one of the yellow wires, there may be an issue with the wiring or the regulator/rectifier.
      One possibility is that there is a break or a poor connection in the wiring that is causing the low voltage output. Check the wiring carefully for any signs of damage or corrosion and make sure all connections are clean and tight.
      Another possibility is that the regulator/rectifier is faulty and not regulating the voltage properly. You may want to test the regulator/rectifier to see if it is functioning correctly.
      It's also possible that there is a problem with the magnets in the flywheel or the stator itself. This could be causing an uneven or weak magnetic field, resulting in low voltage output.
      If you continue to experience problems, it may be helpful to consult a professional mechanic who specializes in scooters to help diagnose and repair the issue because sometimes electrical problem can make you crazy

    thank you really nice video!!! I did however find pick up coils on eBay they are about $7 maybe $9 and free shipping or you can buy the stator and the puller and the pickup coil as a kit and they run about $55 I think that was also on eBay and be very careful when ordering the pickup coil for GY6 50cc because there are two of them believe it or not even though it only shows one when you look it up the difference between the two is the way it will mount to the bike so look at the picture carefully and make sure that the piece of metal on the pickup coil is facing the right direction so that you can mount it to the frame

    In a 50 cc Chinese scooter, does the oil have to be coplently full, or? Is 3 out of 4 stars on the dip stick ok to ride?
    I'm asking because, I think I've noticed a ticking sound since yesterday. The scooter is a 2022 and just hit 900 miles yesterday.
    Any info is appreciated!

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For a 50 cc Chinese scooter, it's important to maintain the correct oil level for optimal performance and to avoid potential engine damage. Generally, the oil level should be close to the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
      Having the oil level at 3 out of 4 stars on the dipstick might still be within an acceptable range, but it's recommended to keep it as close to the "Full" mark as possible. Riding with too little oil can lead to increased friction and overheating, potentially causing engine issues.
      The ticking sound you've noticed could be due to various reasons, and while low oil levels can contribute to engine noise, there might be other factors at play. It's advisable to:
      Check the oil level again and ensure it's at the correct level.
      Listen carefully to the ticking sound and try to identify its source. It could be related to valves, timing, or other engine components.
      If the ticking sound persists or you have concerns, consider taking your scooter to a qualified mechanic for a thorough inspection.
      Regular maintenance and proper oil levels are crucial for the longevity and smooth operation of your scooter's engine. If you're unsure or concerned about any aspect of your scooter's performance, seeking professional assistance is always a good idea.

      @@talkingwithed5474 You are totally correct Ed i believe. In his video when he is testing for ohms on the black/red(exiter coil) he says you should get no reading. I believe this is wrong. You should get a reading and a pretty high one too like 500 ohms and higher. I do not understand his explanation to you. He is a good guy and makes some good videos, but he is wrong here and if i had followed what he is saying I would have thought my stator was good, as mine has the faulty black/red coil and i get OL or a very low number,

    I do have a question my stator when running is putting out 12.5 that is at idle TaoTao not sure so many options but is that a problem

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello my friend A stator output of 12.5 volts at idle for a TaoTao scooter is within an acceptable range, but it is on the lower end of what is typically expected. Generally, a healthy charging system should produce around 13.5 to 14.5 volts when the scooter is running at idle.
      Here are a few considerations:
      Battery Health: Make sure your battery is in good condition. A weak or failing battery can affect the charging system's performance. Check the battery's voltage when the scooter is off; it should be around 12.6 to 12.8 volts for a fully charged battery.
      Regulator/Rectifier: The regulator/rectifier plays a crucial role in regulating the voltage output from the stator. If it's malfunctioning, it can result in lower voltage output. Inspect the regulator/rectifier for any signs of damage or overheating.
      Stator Output at Higher RPMs: Test the stator's voltage output when the scooter is running at higher RPMs. It should increase from the idle voltage. If it does, the stator might be functioning correctly, but the idle RPMs could be set too low.
      Idle RPM Adjustment: If your scooter's idle RPMs are too low, it could affect the stator's output. You can try adjusting the idle speed to see if it affects the voltage output. Consult your scooter's manual for guidance on adjusting the idle speed.
      Wiring and Connections: Check all electrical connections for cleanliness and tightness. Loose or corroded connections can lead to voltage drops.
      While 12.5 volts at idle is not a critical issue, it's essential to ensure that your scooter's charging system is functioning optimally. If you continue to experience problems or if the voltage drops further, it's a good idea to consult a qualified scooter mechanic or technician. They can perform a more thorough diagnosis to pinpoint any potential issues and make the necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure your scooter's charging system is working correctly.

      Hello Bahaa if you have a new electric starter should be working make sure that your kill switch at the throttle is on or place a screw driver between the starter solenoid poles and keep your hands away the problem could be a bad solenoid or a bad kill switch or burn bad wiring check this video for the selenoid th-cam.com/video/De1LNDVefXo/w-d-xo.html or check this for the starter th-cam.com/video/oww0wvUUYko/w-d-xo.html

      Hello the engine is not grounded the line that connect one of the screw of the valve cover with the negative part of the motor is not connected with the battery to test you need a multi meter touch the battery with red probe on positive side and with the negative black probe touch the motor you should have a reading if you dont you need to ground the motor . I hope this can help you and thank you for watching my video

      So I found the stator is shorted. Is that why my scooter won't start? I redid the grounds to the motor with thicker gauge wiring. Green wire still gets very hot from stator and I know the motor is grounded. I tested with multimeter.

      I was able to test my stator without taking it out just go to the wiring harness in the back of the bike and find the two bullet connectors one will be the blue and white wire the other one the red and yellow those two wires run all the way down to the pickup coil which is on the outside of the stator and flywheel check ohms and volts for both the wires the blue and white one runs to pick up coil and the red and yellow I think it's yellow lol runs to the Exciter or charger coil and that is part of the stator that usually fails to where you won't get any Spark

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Alejandro you will need a multimeter you need to inspect every little thing starting from the sparkplug to make sure is not cracked and you have the right gap, inspect the sparkplug boot to make sure you have the little clip that hold the plug top after twist the boot and remove that and inspect the coil cable to make sure the copper is not burn from the current after you will need to have a multimiter to see, when you try to turn your scooter on , if the voltage goes to the ignition coil in the back side where you have one green wire and yellow wire after you will need to test the continuity on the stator and especially of the pick up sensor that sometimes goes bad . I hope this can help you and thank you for watching my video

    I'm wanting to buy the taotao tbr7 to ride to work 12 mile round-trip,it's either the powermax 150 or the tbr7,what are your thoughts on this?which one is better in your opinion?

    • @VirberelloScooterTips

      Hello Cody wow I love the the tbr7 the only bad thing is with the tbr7 you will not have any storage and when you find a storm you will get lots of rain instead with the scooter body you will be little more cover so my opinion is that the tbr7 is a lot more fun then the powermax but is also depend where and when you ride your transportation .

      Although the question is already 4 months old, I am going to put the answer in anyway for the people that might have the same question after this video. There are 2 systems for the stator. One is as described here: yellow and white (sometimes also yellow in stead of white) are two coils that are not connected to ground, only connected to each other . They go directly to the rectifier/regulator. From there the battery is charged and the lights are powered through the battery. The second (older) system has one side of the coils connected to ground, the yellow goes to the regulator, and the white to the headlight. The yellow wire is from the middle of the coils, and the white from the end of the coils. You see this system mainly in older Honda bikes.

      Hello my friend anything is possible specially with this low prices parts sometime they ship parts that are not working the good thing that you can send the part back but the problem is that you have to work twice and remove your defective part from your scooter ah ah ah ah when I have no spark I always start to inspect the spark plug fist after I check the spark plug boot and them the wire of the spark plug and them the stator and the pick so I play a little elimination game and sometime I win ah ah ah and at the end I disconnect the red wire at the cdi that is connected directly to the kill switch and the scooter like magic start right up.

    1- when I turn on the engine and test the battery voltage it gives me different reads per seconds . what is that problem ? do you think it is the regulator ,, even when I move the voltmeter beside the battery it gives more different read without connecting any terminal but when I turn off the engine it stops give these crazy reads
    2- another problem : I have replaced everything in my engine yesterday (piston -rings - gaskets - spark plug - adjusted valves - everything was made professionally) even when I try to use kick starter it come to some level to be very hard to go down because of the pressure is so Good : but we have an opened place for the carburetor for the auto chuck which we di dnot install , we keep it exposed : when I use kick starter and starter motor it does not want fill the gas filter easy as it should be ...... I know the battery is Dead ,, note that the New battery is 12v 6A only while the Old battery was 12V 10A also the Fuse was wet because of the rain . the Engine does not want work easily it takes many many tries to turn on until the battery is Dead
