Thanks so much for this video! I have done the relay repair / replace many times on the older style boards. Was hoping these boards were better but I guess not. I really only wanted a visualization of the new style but happy to see someone creating a better fix for these garbage relays. Ordering now!
Great video, thanks! we have a 7 year old BP spa that keeps overheating, can these relays stick in the on position to cause this? I troubleshooted everything else and this is the only cause I can some up with. also why do you recommend the different type of relay over replacing the same HF2150-1A-12DEF(257) this is on the current board?
Hi! I have a board just like yours, I have checked and all relay are okay but my spa won’t heat.k3 gets closed but k1 and k5 won’t close.. do you know what is blocking them ? Thx
Great videos I really appreciate them! I have a question. My spa wasn’t heating and I am not getting power through one of the relays. Should I start by trying to replace that relay or are there other tests that I need to perform to make sure that power is getting to the relay first?
I have a Balboa 54379 board that shows 188 on topside when powered on. Hot tub does nothing. Any idea what this may indicate. There's no visual damage on the front of the board, all fuses have 120VAC except F1 shows 13VAC
Thank you for your video. I believe I have a relay out on my board. I measured ohms across my heater element and it is 10.5 (5.5 kW heater), I measured voltage across the heater poles and its 0 (hot tub is on and calling for heat), the voltage coming in to the board is 240 across red and green, and 120 across both J100 and J101 (balboa system). My board is a MXBP501X. If you concur with my diagnosis, could you help me select the correct kit from your website for doing this repair. If you need additional information, please let me know. Brian
@@glideslope1582 I wound up having to replace my board. I used spaguts and they took very good care of me. I tried everything else all the way to soldering some circuits on my control board. I got it working again, but the units failed again and I just went ahead and replaced it. The replacement board has a heater with it and it’s fairly easy to set up if you take your time and follow the documentation.
Where did you get the new relay? I have those style relays on my mas25 board, but 1 of the relays, the "leg" that opens/closes fell off. Not sure what happened, but its broken off so I need to install a new relay. Where can I buy them?
I hate to point out something real obvious here but the whole point of the video is you learn how to repair your board and buy your parts from me.. This link is in the video and the description.. hottubpartsofamerica.com/search.php?search_query=balboa+relay+t-90
@@spaguyhowto7417 yep trying to buy from you but the only link I see is your website link. Not the actual part. Just wanted to make aure I'm getting the exact part, and was letting you know that there was no link.
@@spaguyhowto7417 okay I see thank you, so if the two temp sensors are in good working order that relay should stay shut. Thanks for the good info. Take care.
What capacitors and resistor are normally mounted along side the relays and across which pins I have a board it’s burnt a hole in on the output to the pumps/components side
My K2 relay is toast. I have the old board with jumper. The jumper wire fried. Anything that could've caused that which I should be worried about?@@spaguyhowto7417

What ended up being the fix in your situation? I have a similar issue.

@@spaguyhowto7417 btw great guides.
Where does the plug for the control panel go? What number or letter?? Please help
What is the purpose for the tandem relay? What does the first one do.
The first one is closed base on the sensors operating correctly then the closest to the heater closes when it called for heat..
