    To answer the questions about condensation @justcitroen let me lose in their Ami Demonstrator again, today's forecast was for rain, and rain it did!
    By the time I got my GoPro's set up I was soaked, and the floor of the car was wet too, it was also very steamed up ( probably because it took me about 30 mins to position and set up the cameras and my microphones, as one of my cameras refused to switch on till I took the battery out and rebooted it.
    I have to say that I’m now hesitant to post the video as when I was editing it I noticed that the condensation looks a lot worse through the camera lenses than it did through my eyes, it was a strange day, heavy rain, lots of spray on the roads, but it was warm and bright too, the condensation which appears in the lower left and right corners of the windscreen was below my field of vision, driving was no problem but I would definitely recommend coating the outside with Rain X Rain Repellant and the inside with Rain X Anti Fog.
    I just don't want to give the seemingly ever-increasing number of Ami haters an excuse to pipe up in the forums

    When I had my Caterham 7, I hated having to put the full roof on in really bad weather as it would mist up terribly. It had a heated front screen, but the side and rear would take ages to clear. I don't ride my bike in big groups, and won't defend bad cyclists, but cyclists often ride side by side because it's usually easier for motorists to SAFELY overtake a line of 10x2 than a single line of 20. It tends to make motorists pay more attention to their overtake, as otherwise many pass far too close and with a high speed differential. I've seen cars try overtaking with limited forward vision, only to jam on the anchors mid way because of an oncoming vehicle etc. Suddenly they find themselves with nowhere to go.

    Out of curiosity, whats the car insurance like on an Ami? I have a Renault Twizy, and it's not too far off regular car price.

      My Insurance is quite dear ranging from 5 to £600 im a car dealer, no no claims as always used a traders policy, 5000 mpa including business use, however ive recently got a quote for £425 without business use

      @@MyAmiVice Ah thanks, That's pretty much the same price my Electric Smart Car's insurance is.
      It's a shame it doesn't qualify for motorcycle insurance really.

    I had a 2CV back in the 90’s and it was just the same. This seems better how the screen clears from the middle. Bravo Citroen

      Always use a kitchen roll to do the windows in my old Citroën , and of course open a window (or two) , problem solved...

  • @another3997

    I always loved the idea of vehicles like this. More practical than a motorcycle or bicycle, nippy, small enough to park anywhere and cheap to run. Clearly it's not designed for regular use out of town on motorways or for families, but with so many single occupant vehicles making shortish trips to work and back every day, this makes sense. Apply anti mist spray and/or clear windows with a suitable demisting pad or microfibre cloth. 😉

      @MyAmiVice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm working on fitting a heater, which should alleviate the misting and driver freezing to death in a blizzard problems 😂

  • @leneanderthalien
    @leneanderthalien ปีที่แล้ว

    mist was similar in the 2cv or the R4, to reduce it you can use mist condenser compound on the windows+ open the side windows for better vent

  • @MrLekatt
    @MrLekatt ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To solve the misting 'problem' I recommend a cabin heater, which by the way is standard equipment in most normal cars in northern Sweden. If you're at home you can plug it in an extension cable or perhaps even get an inverter so you can have a socket in your AMI. The warm cabin should give you a nice and mistfree ride to work.

    Speed limits are not targets, roads are for all users, not just fast cars, if they are impatient or get angry, then they really should not be driving, they have the problem. It would be better if Citroen allowed a higher speed limit for UK-spec cars, the allowable limit would be 56mph, which would transform the car's usability! Thanks for sharing!

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right but ive recently tested the Rain X products Rain Repellent and Anti Fog, and they are brilliant, also as soon as conditions are right i am going to test a couple of heaters which i think should help significantly

    • @MyAmiVice

    you should try shaving foam trick, it works great and no mist at least for 2 weeks, then you need to apply again.

    I was going to buy an X Bus....which seems to have disappeared.......but I was anticipating this problem of cold and wet.....I have used in many of my vehicles, very successfully I might add....an Eberspacher independent diesel heater.

    • @MyAmiVice
      @MyAmiVice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am working on a couple of solutions, budget conscious, through to toasty warm and no dramas 😂

    • @Pinzpilot101
      @Pinzpilot101 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyAmiVice I know that Eberspachers are very expensive, but I have used them for decades without problems in bigger vehicles.......Though I have read many You Tube reviews on Chinese copies and people seem to have no problems with their Chinese Heaters which are a fraction of the price. I'll put this bit in for the Extreme Greens, yes I realise that the point of an electric vehicle is not to have diesel fumes killing the planet.......but having a steamed up electric car might end up killing you and or others, a small but efficient diesel heater might be the lesser of the two evils. (you also have to remember that a diesel heater does suck away a little of the electricity to keep it running.....Many people who use them have a separate battery and that throws up an other problem, where do you put the battery and the heater.? especially in what is designed as a small light car....the weight of another battery might even be critical to it's range.

    i think they can put a little more effort in the ami and give it over 100 miles range with a 100kmph motor larger batter and AC with tad better seats and a step up in suspension and acoustics and i think more folks would make the ami a main vehicle include a special citroen bluetooth speaker or supm for audio as an option through purchasing offer a camper verion of sorts for people who like that stuff as an option on the website i love this car if i want a day out by myself .
