I drove a Peugeot e-208 from Sept 2021 to May 2022. The harshest times were in winter when it rained 24/7 and mist was uncontrollable. A full charge would enable 180 miles in green mode, 170 in normal and 150 in sport. I tested rainex but it made the windscreen blurry (maybe I applied it wrong). Then I purchased a moisture absorbing bag from Amazon and it worked for a while. What worked was a cordless dehumidifier but the downside is that it's noisy and fills up with water fast. I made heated seats in the form of a heat mat powered by USB (from amazon) but it was sized to fit one bum cheek, connected to a portable power bank, it provided 30 degree heat which was enough to heat the whole body. This is what we have to make do driving electric cars whilst reducing range consumption. I put an order in for the Citroen Ami arriving in Jan 2023 and a deposit for the Microlino (although there's no set date when it's arriving in the UK). Oh and I love watching 'me and mon ami' ... I love that they show the possibilities of the little car whilst showing the beauty of their part of the world.
thanks that is very interesting, thanks for watching too, ive thought about the Microlino, but just the quirkiness of the Ami got me, just for getting to and from work, nipping on errands stuff like that, plus going round to my girlfriends cottage where theres no room to park my Range Rover

Here we have the traditional Citroën approach to using the available technology to produce something that is simply fit for purpose, suited to modern day reality. Think 2CV, think DS. Good video Barry - I'm a Brit expat living in France and we've had our little Ami for just over a year. Here 'sans permis' vehicles limited to 28mph are pretty common as they don't require a drivers licence. Living in a village we have to go on 50mph roads to go anywhere and I've never had a problem because other drivers are used to it, but I have to admit I think I'd be a bit more hesitant in the UK. And you're right Rainex is a god send in winter!!!!
Thanks for another sensible and informative presentation. Winter will be a challenge for the little Ami and it’s occupants but the modifications you plan and the relatively short time to be spent in the vehicle should make it usable for most of the time. 👏👏
People say 28mph is too slow.... i was on the M6 a few days ago and we did 5miles in 30 minutes. Road works on M56, average speed 15mph. Going through Buxton it took 40mins to travel 1 mile. 28mph would have been a dream! Me and mon Ami is entertaining.
some people were stuck on the M6 a few weeks ago for 11 hours, I nearly turned on to it at Lancaster 😂 instead it took me 3 hours to do a 30 minute trip to get home down the back roads
Surging is caused by the Speed Limiter kicking in, it will also do it if you are going downhill when you reach 28mph even with the Throttle Pedal partially depressed. Nice to see someone doing a wet weather test video, keep up the good work.
@@BarrieCrampton You are correct, Regen will take place if you stop accelerating with the Throttle, however, if you continue to accelerate using the Throttle and you reach 28mph even before the pedal reaches full travel as you described in your video, the Speed Limiter will operate causing the surging effect. 👍

Yet another great and honest video and car review. I'd love one of those wee cars, looks good inside and everything in reach, the condensation on the door windows would annoy me as in Scotland it rains almost daily but if, like you, putting rainex etc and an upgraded fan then would be a great car. Something different definitely 👍
Hilarious 😂 Thank you. First time I’ve heard that one of the cars specifications is that ‘you can point at things in here’! Thanks again, brilliant. Would love to own one.
Great video as usual. I have to say that the fan wasn’t as loud as you thought it was or when you opened the windows. I usually have to wipe my Duster Windscreen etc… anyway so Ami will be no different. I’m guessing people who have all the mod cons in their vehicle will find it more difficult to adjust but I will not. Will be looking forward to seeing the apple AirPlay unit in use as I’m a big apple fan. Thanks for all the little videos. Appreciate it
I think most people who have a car without air conditioning will suffer the same problem as in the Ami, when there's water in the car, air conditioning doesn't just cool you down but it takes moisture out of the air inside the car, which is why you see a pool of water underneath some cars on a hot day, its getting people to accept this and allow for it, for some reason a lot of people want everything but life and cars are a compromise
I’ve seen enough videos showing condensation on the quadricycle glass. It does appear to be a problem not thought through. For eg the front wiper doesn’t clear the whole screen, leaving bad blind spots. I also though that Citroen would rethink the windows, seeing as it’s a greenhouse on wheels, they could have had the windows open at the top- not bottom. Lastly an internal sunshade roller blind across the glass roof. Why haven’t they even thought that out?? Blinded by the sunny days permanently, overheated occupants or just general privacy
i have a sun blind for mine when it comes, its only £50 and will help, the rest is to keep costs down, as far as transport goes it will be a godsend for some people, I have just got soaked running from my car to the office which is about 10 yards, since going out in the Ami yesterday, I have had a few ideas on how to improve the de-misting system, so i don't think it is insurmountable
@@BarrieCrampton I understand that some people -myself inc- would go down the DIY route. But it’s really down to Citroen to do that as standard as a ‘one size fits all’, doesn’t apply in all countries. The other things is plastic isn’t a great insulator. Along with exposed metal inside the roof it’s a magnet for cold and moisture. Your breathe will condense all the time - like the old cars of the 70s used to have metal exposed A-pillars,doors,dash and even parts of the roof. Freezing cold and always damp! Another bonus to the Citroen Ami to replace the battery guess how much it costs ? Well a BMW small ev would cost you £6500 but the Ami ? only £445 pounds according to book my garage car repair website , so that is a bargain as the battery is basically the cars engine and even on an ICE car a new engine to be fitted would be at least £3000 unless it was a 2nd hand one.
im sure that would help, but its powering it, the vehicle only has 46 mile range to start off with, and if you have the fan on it slows down going up hills 😂
It needs a bit more performance to appeal in the UK 28mph is for french laws where you do not have a licence and drive it at 14. It would be like driving an old milk float from the 60’s I foresee a load of road-rage coming to drivers of these.
I hardly ever get over 25mph on my way too and from work, and usually I'm stuck behind a cyclist doing about 5mph because there isnt enough room to overtake them leaving a metre space, then when you do you get stuck in traffic and they undertake you and your back to being stuck behind them, if i was stuck behind a cyclist doing 28mph I would be a happy man
it's also why you can drive it on a moped license in the Uk. if it was any faster at all it would be classed as a car. not a quadrocycle. meaning more expensive insurance as well.

no I must admit, they wont suit everyones needs all of the time
Another bonus to the Citroen Ami to replace the battery guess how much it costs ? Well a BMW small ev would cost you £6500 but the Ami ? only £445 pounds according to book my garage car repair website , so that is a bargain as the battery is basically the cars engine and even on an ICE car a new engine to be fitted would be at least £3000 unless it was a 2nd hand one.
great information, thanks for sharing
@@BarrieCrampton Cheers 🥂 Barrie I hope you and your family had a great Xmas 🙏🎄⛄🦌
Yes it is safer to cycle in two’s
Could you get a dehumidifier
im sure that would help, but its powering it, the vehicle only has 46 mile range to start off with, and if you have the fan on it slows down going up hills 😂
Cheers, Bazza, this video convinces me I’ll never have an electric vehicle…ever.
A fridge in winter, a greenhouse in summer, steaming up ,mmmm, your ok thanks 😊.
