Per the service manual (page 16-23), the battery should be installed so the positive termimal is at the the cover plate. 6:47

If you ever needed to jump start the bike how are you going to connect to the positive terminal?

There mite be another way but I have always removed the side plates to get to terminals...also using a battery tender is a must.hope this helps..don't forget to 👍 and subscribe.. thank you for the support on the chanel..
