Stationed here for 8 years. Loved the area so much I now call it home. Vacation base.

Thanks for joining the conversation. It’s amazing how many people have done exactly that. Our Broker was stationed here for his 2nd to last assignment and moved back as soon as he retired

Nice breakdown, I’ve been here for 3 years and own on interbay. The base housing is a waitlist, the restaurant referenced has been closed but the beach on base is not bad overall. I will say with the population growth and construction on the 301 and other areas on the Riverview side the commute is more 60-90 mins depending on accidents. If I came here now I’d settle for Wesley chapel new builds or shoot to st Pete and pay the extra with flood insurance.

The gator's name is "Elvis", he's been there since at least 1987 when my father PCS'd in from USAFE. He's at least 16-feet in length. Harmless....just give him a wide berth.
Please don't drive on Bayshore BLVD, that whole neighborhood is home to many of us and we don't appreciate fast drivers. If you live on the Base stick to Dale Mabry as much as possible.
The beach on base sucks - really muddy - and the woods are full of rattlers. Dunno much about the new housing, I lived on the old one in O-country.
Too bad that Chubbies Pizza and Kojak's BBQ closed. The Cuban sammich at Interbay Market has really gone downhill in quality.
p.s. It's the 2nd best base in USAF (Randolph AFB is better).
