Another great video Melanie! As a new Westchase area resident I can confirm that it is a great place to live. The commute takes around 40 minutes early in the morning and between 50-60 minutes in the afternoon but we do live in one of the neighborhoods furthest from base. The commute is a bit of a pain but all is forgiven when I get home and walk my dogs in a beautiful and peaceful setting. We highly recommend the Westchase area to anyone inbound to Macdill.

my family spent 10 wonderful days in Fl and 3 of them was in Clearwater beach. I really enjoyed our stay there and glad I didn't see any storms I keep hearing that forms during the day. Now I'm back in cold oregon (woke up to 23' this morning). My family sorely miss FL! (spent 4 days in Orlando and 2 in Key West area and Tampa is our favorites.).
I'd like to know more about Springhill and riverview. My hubby is transferring to work in clearwater but I'm not seeing a lot of good homes closer to Clearwater for $250,000 or less.
Interviewed for an accounting position here. Three people on the panel including one person from HR. The person from HR angrily and aggressively asked me right at the beginning of the interview "Name one control you created." The antagonistic approach, esp for someone from HR, was clearly inappropriate. It was obvious from her tone that she thought I was wasting her time, which makes me wonder why I was even selected to be interviewed, which ended up wasting my time. One of the other members on the panel concluded the interview. The interview lasted all of like two or three minutes. The lady from HR clearly didn't understand the responsibilities of the position I was attempting to leave, and this is just another one of many DOD positions posted where they tried to pigeonhole you into audit readiness as if they have no other regular accounting positions available because to them audit readiness at that time became all the buzz. The position consisted of writing rambling documents asserting that they were audit ready even if they weren't, not actually doing auditing. Based on other interviews plus two positions I worked at within DOD, I quickly learned that the DOD is not a place you want to work for. DOD's MO is basically bullying their employees and trying to fit a square in a round hole. I was not qualified for the job I was trying to leave and was interviewing to try and get out of it, not to go back into a similar position. The people at all these places, I thought, were rather strange. It was like being in a cult. Obviously, as I pointed out they certainly don't have any tact. Also, talk about a small world, but although I was located over a thousand miles away one of my coworkers got the job. He later complained after taking the job about being overworked. Sounds like I dodged a bullet. I ultimately found a job that wasn't toxic at a higher pay grade. It worked out for the best.

One concern I have about Tampa is that the public schools systems seem to be rated low, can you elaborate on the cost of private schools in that area or perhaps any parts of the city with above average schools? Also, are you familiar with any other parts of the State of Florida? We are looking into Weston, Fl. Home prices are higher than Tampa but the schools are great and it's not on the coast (yeah we somewhat fear hurricanes, coming from the Northeast). Thanks in advance for your reply. Paul.
Hi Paul! My apologies for taking so long to respond to your question. Hillsborough County is one of the largest public school districts in the country. While you are correct that not all of those schools are rated highly, there are lots of great public schools in the area. We also have charter schools and magnet schools that offer specialized programs according to a student's interests. Private schools are an option as well, but some can be quite expensive. Like here from Brazil. If I don't change the law 4 years from now, I'll retire at 50. I was a carter for 10 years, 17 years ago I am concurdado here in MG. I will retire with 32 years of contribution. Thank God my professional and financial situation is structured. When I live outside Brazil I can still work by truck driver (first world countries pay well) or in the area of safety. Form the children and live in a safe country.

The daily storms are during the summer. Florida is now getting into the drier winter months.
