    I start to get the idea from life experience that some people thrive on drama and they intentionally create it and persist in it even when they know it is dangerous possibly fatal. People also don't like solutions because they enjoy the 'problem', it becomes their identity. If you tell them how to fix it they don't want to hear about it.

    A sad situation for all involved. Stephan sounds like a broken man just looking for love and companionship. I wonder what happened to her two daughters? Raised by other relatives, will they ever have a desire to build a relationship with their mother in prison?

      @@amz33894 There is no evidence presented here that his drinking in any way contributed to the killing.. In fact, he seems like a very well adjusted individual regardless of his drinking habits.
      Presenting this as a case of "two drunks in a bad relationship" does the victim a disservice. This was a case of an entirely blameless individual being stalked and murdered by a raging narcissist-psychopath. If anything, Stephan was too nice and too willing to attempt to provide care to the person who would brutally murder him.

      @@aarondavis8943 It's troubling that he didn't attempt to defend himself against his assailant/ex girlfriend.. He was likely stronger than her and could have pinned her to the floor, and gotten help even just by shouting to get LE involved. Watch her interrogation…she lied about everything…she had no remorse and she deserves life in prison. He was no danger to her at all and she knew it. She was angry because he wouldn’t take her back…he tried to help her but it wasn’t enough for her! I believe she knew exactly what she was doing! Your videos have made it clear to me how some people are just more vulnerable and that attracts abusers. Life lessons teaching us to tolerate and even expect it, accepting responsibility for it, even. Quiet, introverted, sensitive children are targets and once abused believe they only deserve that type of treatment. I was so scared as an 18yo that I would lose everything I had if I reported my abuser to the police. The justice system was just going to fail and possibly shame me further. But, even so, I should have done it. I might have learned that I deserved better and that I could defend myself. Lesson: if your mother and teachers won't respond when you tell them, keep trying. You may never get the chance again and it will affect your whole life.

    This case shows that alcoholism can put people, such as the professor, in dangerous situations. His judgement was certainly affected. The alcohol was a way of avoiding the potentially painful, but more effective, ways of ending his troubles at work and in relationships (including ending the relationship with Anna). At first, the alcohol, attention, and sex made him tolerate her issues. I also think the professor's empathy, mixed with liquor, kept her in his life too long. He went beyond what a sober, more reasonable person would have done. I think the aging Anna kept having to prove to herself that she was still very attractive to men. In addition, she was not capable of monogamy. There is certainly a narcissistic streak in her, magnified by alcohol.

    I have to say Stephan put himself in a bad situation that night. He waits in a cab while his "girlfriend" flirts with other men. He wanted to get her back to his condo that night because he was lonely. I have to believe he knew he was playing with fire. After the cab, he still refused to get himself out of the situation. I feel really bad for him. The lesson here is no matter how lonely you can't let yourself get involved in dangerous relationships.

    Thanks again for your witty analysis of the Ana Trujillo case, Dr. Grande, and the sly shoe-type references you made. Just like Bette Midler once said, "Give a girl the proper footwear and she can conquer the world!" In this case, it allowed a drunken, violence prone woman to kill a drunken wuss of a man. Given her previous tendency towards violence, I would have to disagree with your suggestion that she should have used a crime of passion defense to get a shorter sentence. She had a history of escalating violent behavior, and while her murder of Stefan might not have been premeditated or coldly calculated, it could be suggested that it would have been inevitable, given their personalities.

    I used to be married to an unusually gentle Swede--just gentle by innate temperament, I think. Trauma or no trauma in the background, I think that just being Swedish is a big marker of vulnerability. I am only half-joking about that, being a chill Nordic, myself.
    But, poor Alf! What a sad case!
    And I would cut Trujillo no slack for `sudden passion. If she could open his braincase with a shoe for any reason, she's one of society's wild animals and should be treated as such. There is suddenly way too much of this `sudden passion' garbage going inadequately punished, right now.

    This case is a reminder that childhood trauma ,( Stephans abuse by his father) need to be addressed. It does not resolve without shining light on it. Therapy with a licensed mental health professional is one chance for addressing and resolving it. Poor Stephan did not realize that. Intelligent people do stupid things.
    I was wondering what went in to Anna. She let her children go to someone else? That is not really understandable to me. She had an income and was able to support herself and them. How is drinking and meaningless engagement with men a better choice?
    How come she married right after her divorce again?
    Strange from the beginning of this story....the army drafting avoidance for the unborn baby.

You guess which one. 😄 On a serious note - one of my mother 's college roommate lived in our same town and would visit often. At the time she was deep in her alcoholism (she eventually got sober). It was terrible to see a woman, a mother, act like that, sometimes having to be physically controlled. I had a few drinks in college, but once I became a mom, that was it, and that was decades ago. The last bit of analysis contradicts the assertion that the murderer deserved 22 years (crime of passion). The perp appears to be ruthless, and deliberately attacked and killed a victim who did not fight back. A male murderer, with a similar aggressive history, who killed his female partner with his fists and anything to hand would deserve an equally long sentence.

      @@HighNoone You don't understand the difference between first degree and second degree murder .Using a shoe as a weapon would indicate that it was done in the heat of the moment, which would be indicative of second degree murder. Now, if she planned it out to bring a shoe with her to use as a weapon to kill him that would be first degree murder, but I truly doubt that was the case. Being a drinker with regular fights the jury will see that it was a case of her killing him in the passion of the moment and she'll be convicted of second degree murder.

    It's possible, perhaps, that the Doc is tired, or has a cold. Usually you can see him in the comments, acknowledging various comments that he likes, etc. In fact, this is one of the things I've always liked about the guy: he actually reads the comments! He's soft-spoken, appears to have no ego, has a subtle but sometimes brilliant sense of humor, and he always seems to know what he's talking about. He knows a lot about handguns, for example. When I was a musician, I found out that my recording engineer had a Beretta 92, probably chambered in 9 millimeter, and it was, basically, a hobby for this guy. He'd go to the local firing range once in a while, and do his thing. It would be almost a decade later when I found out for myself that, as a hobby, it can be pretty damn fun. I went with Beretta too, and all I can say is this: those wacky Italians make one hell of a pistol. I put 700 rounds through it, and it only jammed once.
    I've totally forgotten what I was originally going to say. Oh well, there's always tomorrow (if my liver doesn't give out). Bye for now.

    "Head over heels" Lol Humor aside, I don't believe Ana. I think it was her who was insanely jealous not Stefan. She attacked him with a stiletto the moment they came back from the bar. My guess is she felt slighted in some way, maybe thought he was attracted to someone else while they were there. Personally, I see Stefan and Ana as an odd couple. He obviously had more education and wealth. Who was Ana? A high school grad who had a string of partners while living on the wild side with another guy who lived in the same condo complex no less. This story is Ana's story not Stefan's. Unfortunately, Stefan is dead and can't give his side of the story. I also do not believe he wanted to marry her.
    Wow! I wrote this only halfway into Dr. Grande's video. So I was right, Ana's story is just that, a story! Unfortunately, Stefan was lured by sex, but I doubt he was afraid of losing her. I think it was more like, "How can I get rid of her?" Too bad he had to die to find out.

    • @dissidentfairy4264
      @dissidentfairy4264 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also would like to add a couple more thoughts. Men like Stefan, even though they over indulge in alcohol, seldom seem to have problems finding women, especially when they are affluent. Stefan may have been looking for love but I didn't see him as desperate, or a man who had to hang on to Ana at any cost. I think he sent her to Mexico hoping to rid himself of her. When she returned she began to stalk him. She knew she was losing him and lured him one last time back to his place and decided to take out all of her feelings of rage and rejection out on him. I don't think she had an issue with him over indulging in alcohol at all. She was in bars drinking a lot too. Her story is pure fiction.

      @dissidentfairy4264 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Emme H Really? It's sounds like he had low self esteem. Maybe he was passive and introverted and had to wait for a woman to make the first move. She seems aggressive and no doubt did. I didn't pay much attention to his photo but didn't he look a bit like Elon Musk? Not that I would find Musk attractive either, but if I remember right he wasn't hideous looking was he? I've seen women like Ana before and they are always bad news. lol I had an uncle on my mother's side of the family who was agoraphobic. He allowed the condition to ruin his life. Once a year he'd gain the courage to leave his home and go to a bar, but he had to drink to do it. He was a nice-looking man, but always waited for something easy to come along. He never took the initiative to look for anyone of quality. When he finally married, he married a women with five children who had been married five times before. Needless to say, the marriage lasted only nine months. Long enough to produce a daughter. My uncle died young from smoking and drinking himself to death. My point is, maybe Stefan had psyche issues too in some way that prevented him from living a normal life when it came to romance.
