Amen. In Texas, it isn't about rings. it's common law. This means a guy you slept with 2 years ago who lied about being married can now tell people that you are his wife and keep you from dating. You wouldn't really be his wife if he was married when you stayed with him. or if he did not live with you anymore. Likewise, a woman could do the same and take a man's car or home because he allowed her to sleep over the weekend at his place. Now gender prejudices are awful, so it could be a man taking resources or a woman trying to lock down a man who is tired of her, but people I talked to say the man wants to impair dating nearly 100% of the time even if he doesn't want the woman anymore.

Losing an “ideal” partner to someone who is a better match in not unusual, it happens all the time. However, as you beautifully put, her personality traits made her unable to deal with the defeat.

Kendra was the “ideal.” Brenda saw this, and thought that the way to hurt her ex would be to destroy the very thing he adored. By destroying Kendra, Brenda thought that she could get her ex to hurt like she did. This happens when people focus on the hurt of the breakup rather than what was good while they were together. I also think the abortion had a part in this. If Brenda was coaxed or felt forced to do it in order to keep him, then his leaving her hurt doubly. She probably told herself that had she went ahead and had the baby, she would have at least had a tie to him. She’d have en excuse to be around in his life. Her ex probably saw how this would affect his future plans, and that he’d be tied to her whether he wanted to or not. Hence he had an extreme motive to step Brenda in the direction of an abortion. I think it all plays together. Too bad Kendra had to pay the price. Maybe women out there should ask their potential mates if they have had any “bad romances,” before getting involved with them. Thats my analysis.

Another podcaster talked about how great Ricki's family was, he was very close to them. They all disliked Brenda's lack of character and pushed him to break it off. Brenda & Ricki began fighting about this, it actually led to his breaking it off with her. Agree 100% with you about her regretting the abortion. Not out of any compassion she may have had for the child, she's too narcissistic for that. Rather a regret that she'd been foolish enough to squander a bargaining chip.

It must have been hard for Brenda to watch people easily have the dream that was withheld from her due to socioeconomic factors. Life can be so unfair. It’s hard to let go, and when someone misrepresents and goes back and forth and wastes someone else’s time w promise rings, etc., a lady can become enraged. It’s understandable. And it’s understandable that she needed to let go and continue on a more introspective path rather than giving into jealousy and envy and unrealistic desires.

The Pregnancy was considered high Risk; however, Padma Lakshmi went ahead with the pregnancy.
The comments from the Regular Average Joe was shocking!!!! For some odd reason they could not come to terms that God answered her prayers 🙏💯!! They wanted to be the FATHER of her children. She just happened to get pregnant by someone who is " Top Dog" . 🤷🤷
You see.... She is what a lot of Men would love to have as a Mother of their CHILD. Sadly, only Top Tier Men have Access to Women like herself.
Steven Bing and Liz Hurley: another example. The Grandfather wanted Liz Hurley to Abort; she stated " I want my Baby"and I LOVE Steve Bing!
Read up on both of the cases.
      Carpe Diem 😇

I dated a guy who gave me a promise ring. He cheated on me, S.A me then we broke up and he stalked me. Yeah, he wasn't very mature 😅

I've had my share of hurt and rejection in my life, but I always found a good remedy for the woe is me !! ...was a good bottle of wine and a large bar of chocolate, that did the trick for me, I can honestly say I never once thought of investing in a metal baseball bat. :(

Obviously this wouldn't have happened if she were more mature, perhaps less narcissistic. But I think there are really 2 other glaring problems that aren't really addressed here.
    1) You suggest that she was dealing with a feelings of being unfairly treated because of of what she was essentially was born with .. this is a pretty strong motivator for criminality.
    2) Not enough can be said for not fooling around with something as serious sex, there's a reason people mate for life. Mature or immature, regardless. It's really a part of our lizard brain selves, if you will. You can't just fool around, don't give a flying cow what your Ivy league, mega author mentor or friend says on relationships. Sure no one deserves to be the subject of revenge, and this is rarish .. but you should expect it sonny boy, not much sympathy here.

Astonishing that reasonably intelligent adults can believe any couple has "the perfect love." This is always delusional.

In fairness, as an adult I gave away two promise rings, was engaged twice and am happily married for the first time to an amazing wife, who was the recipient of one of those rings. I feel as though it wasn’t so much about a lack of maturity but more so where we were at in life. I’d argue it’s essentially a lower-stress way of handling a longer engagement. We wanted to get some more stuff prepared, ie career, school, finances and so on without feeling the social pressures of being seen by those around us as an “engaged couple” and having people ask us about wedding planning, wedding dates, plans to have kids, etc etc. So it was kinda like “Hey, we’re engaged but we don’t want everyone bugging us about wedding stuff and we don’t want to stress ourselves out about getting married when we’re still getting some stuff prepared, so let’s keep it as a low-key engagement for a bit.” Again, first time it didn’t work out so great but the second time I do feel like it helped us have a lot more breathing space while planning stuff out ourselves. I’m quite tired as I write this so hopefully that made some sense, but I feel like seeing it as a low-key, social-pressure-free engagement is a pretty fair summary. In my case, at least.

It's always interesting hearing your perspective on stories I know in and out. You really added a lot of valuable analysis at the end of this one Dr. G. I always wondered why her personality seemed to have changed so much and this could be a valid theory.

Having been stalked before, I find this story particularly disturbing because at least I knew that I needed to be extra careful & vigilant.... Kendra was oblivious to the danger she was in, going about her life with no reason to think that she was in someone's crosshairs. The fact that Brenda didn't give herself away to Ricky or her family is particularly chilling, because it probably wouldn't have taken much to prevent her from getting to Kendra if they knew.... the way she was so blatantly searching for someone to do the murder almost feels like a part of her psyche _wanted_ to get caught before she could do it. Why _none_ of the people she approached bothered to report it, even anonymously, I'll never understand. RIP Kendra
