@@justinlast2lastharder749They weren’t there for that, they were there to provide some extra numbers. The only reason the Spartans could hold the Persians off for three days was the phalanx and the extremely narrow entry point, but if they were spread out, they’d be ran over immediately.
Technically they’re braver than the Spartans. Spartans were raised for war, death was something they made peace with and actually longed for under the right circumstances. The Arcadians and other Greeks didn’t want to die, weren’t raised for war, and still went there.
@alexman378 made even more impressive when you realize the Greek version of the afterlife portrayed in Homer's epics (assuming the greeks at the time actually have believed in it) was incredibly terrifying to comprehend.
