the kaoss pad was always widely underutilised in the dj community in my opinion. As an FX send/rtn unit it was an incredible bit of kit. Being able to bring in a track with a mad phaser or something simply by selecting the track in cue then sweeping your hand, or fine tuning your echo/reverbs to perfection was awesome. For the sake of the £250 you'd pay for the pad and an alrightish mixer, you ended up with feature set and FX quality that was up there with the £1000 mixers. I was surprised i never really see anybody else with them in their setups.

This is a very very helpful video, as it also demonstrates how it was intended to be used. Very oldschool approach. Has it's limitations but i totally get it. 2022. I bought this fantastic Kaossilator Pro, but I can't save a wave file of my recorded loops to the card. Tell me please, how to save as a wave file? I am using a MacBook pro 2019 P.S. KAOSSILATOR PRO EDITOR is too old for my system
I think that you’ll have to record into a DAW. For example, you could plug it into a sound module then the sound module into a computer and if you have a program like Abelton lite on your computer, you can record into Ableton lite
@DrumMan1025 Hold down the SHIFT button, then press one of the LOOP RECORDER BANK buttons. Then, turn the PROGRAM/BPM knob clockwise to increase to 16 beats. Note that this only works above a tempo value of 104 BPM.
@loungingaround Yes, that is possible. For best results, we recommend plugging the guitar into a preamp to bring the signal to line level (most pedals/effects processors will do this), and then plug the preamp into the KAOSSILATOR PRO.
Hey, I FINALLY got a KPRO+ and am loving this old 4:3 video series, feels like I got it new! It is new, it's just old now. My only gripe so far is that the knobs feel like fragile plastic and the chrome layer will rub off over time. Luckily I have some replacement silicone knobs for standard synths I can throw on there! Can't wait to watch the rest of these and start making some tunes!
Great video. I'm ordering mine tomorrow, and I am very excited as a huge fan of the original kaossilator. As a huge fan of Korg, and an owner of many Korg instruments, this will be a very welcomed addition to my collection.
A friend of mine told me about these, but I didn't get to try one until earlier today by chance. I feel like a kid who just discovered a pen and paper, or paints or whatever and found they can pour their imagination out. Seeing this video just makes me more sure that I have to get one of these.
Never have I had to defend a devices as much as I have the kaosspad/kaossilator range. I get why people may think they are terrible, but they can be useful as hell at times.

In addition to Reason's Midi Learn function, Be sure to check out the KOPro's editor software for some really interesting ways to customize the way it works.

The banks are always synchronized, and if all the banks are stopped, holding down one Bank button will "arm" it, but it only starts recording when you touch the pad (like the K01).
@ItsIvanJones The phrase can be up to 16 beats, the same capacity you have to record internal sounds. Once you press the record button, all the banks will blink red. Choose one, and you're recording. It will loop indefinitely, recording the whole time, until you press the REC button again.

I'm new to it so, every TH-cam video is a great help as I'll probably find the instruction manual laborious and difficult to understand! Just a few questions: Wud you do a video showing how to save the creations via the Korgs sofware and explain how it gets conv into WAV files that I can then import into a track on my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Mixcraft 5? @KorgUSAVideos Last i checked, editor software requires a working USB-connection. So you might wanna get cracking on updating the USB-drivers, so they'll actually work, before you recommend people trying to use it. Otherwise you'll have alot of annoyed customers thinking their gear is defect. When in reality it just havent recieved proper support... Wouldnt think it takes 3+ months to update a USB-driver...
@glebo2007 It is possible, but in most cases, you'll need a computer (with software such as MIDI-OX) between the keyboard and the KAOSSILATOR PRO, to translate the keyboard's MIDI note messages into the CC messages needed to trigger the KAOSSILATOR PRO.
I have one of these. Too many things to remember. Not very intuitive. But I’m not a musician. I’ve tried to remember the guitar fret board for 35 years, but can’t. This machine and those who can play it, get my admiration.
How do I adjust the output volume? Like the actual kaossilator volume..? I currently have the kaossilator hooked to a couple powered speakers via RCA cord.

Is it possible to synchronize the start of a recording of a bank like the K1 does? (i.e. all stopped, pressing Rec and when the finger touches pad rec starts).

When i press SHIFT bottom and number 1 to format my memory it says a message like error. I dont know why. I try also format my sd in my computer to save directly from here but i couldnt do it. Can you delete layers from one of the banks? For example, say you've got 4 layers recorded on bank A, but now you dont like what you did on the 4th layer and want to remove it. Is that possible? And how about removing layer 2 from that bank? Thanks!

Great introduction video! Question: let's say I'd use a KOPro in a live session. Is it possible to "monitor" or "pre-listen" to a new loop that I want to add to the "track" via my headphones (i.e. the crowd doesn't hear it yet) and then, when I think I nailed it, I'll record it to one of the banks and it becomes in integral part of the track? Or do i have to practice like HELL and do it "first time right" :) Sooooo restraining myself from going to the store RIGHT now and buy me one! :)
I have bought a Koassilator Pro and am very pleased with it as an instrument. However, when putting the SD card in the Kaossilator Pro says that it is protected. I have tried this with 3 brand new 2gb SD cards, flicking the lock switch etc and making sure write protect is not on, and the same problem has occured for each of the 3 cards when I try to format them. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

three notable differences, first the extra sounds; second the ability to use SDHC cards, third they have made the midi output of the new + model a bit freer with the implementation of the software editor.
whats the advantage of being able to use a SDHC card over a SD card... i know the SDHC card can store more, but a normal SD 1-2 gb card can store everything you want to record on this unit... so not necessary to be any larger than 2GB

yes you have MIDI In/Out in the back. you can activate MIDI by holding Shift+8

Can you add internal effects on the voices ??
there's a big difference if you switch the toggle from INPUT MIC to SELECT LINE (with my amateur setup) maybe that will help you?

as far as i know... you have to delete the whole bank and start again

can i save loops a-d on a single loop button? ive been trying to figure this out for a months and i cant seem to find a way to do it.

Have some noon questions can I hear an instrument on headphones. Before recording and as volumes changed per bank, can I say record 4 banks then record that out put to one single bank? Got one yesterday and just the first questions I have
You can use 🎧 to listen your sound. Also you can use multi layers on the same bank but if you delete multi layer bank all sounds will be gone

i am assuming in order play/edit the saved information on the SD card in my computer i need to down load the editor softwere?to my kaossilator or computer ?

if anyone hasent figured it out being a slow one like me to change from 8 to 16 beat hold down shift and press a bank a,b,c or d and it says L8 turn control silver knob and it changes to 16
