This same laptop a year and a half later (now) still only comes with 16GB of RAM, but it comes with a much faster video card. Instead of the 3060 this one had, it has a 4070. !!! Huge difference and it is only $1,099 at Costco! Just picked one up today. This is a great deal for a gaming laptop.
Just got the 2024 Victus 16 8845HS processor w/ the 4070 (on sale for $900 from Best Buy!!!) First thing I did was upgrade the RAM from 16 -> 32GB RAM (5600 Mhz DDR5 SODIMM). It is MUCH smoother (especially gaming) with 32GB RAM. This laptop is blazingly fast and stays nice and cool (you NEED a laptop stand/cooler for ALL gaming laptops!). Also, there is no hinge issue like the 2022 HP Victus models had. The hinge has been fixed and is very stable. Thank you for posting this DIY, the instructions were perfect.

I have HP Victus 16, i5-12500H and RTX 3050. But when I install Kingston Fury Impact 8gb ddr5 4800mhz into the laptop together with the original ram, the laptop would not boot into the system. But when I use only one of the ram, the laptop does boot up into the system.
Maybe I'm wrong, and this doesn't explain why 1 stick of ram causes it to boot, I believe this laptop only supports ddr4 ram with a max clock speed of 3200.
Yep, that is the reason. This laptop, I mean, the motherboard only support ddr4 technology on 3200 mhz. When you try to turn it on, It wont reconize the new ram because it does not have the technology to read it or use it
In Australia, HP claims it is ddr5 compatible and I have been looking at getting ddr5 ram for it but now I am unsure. One thing I am curious about with your comment is that you are trying to run the original ddr4 ram with a stick of ddr5 ram and I am unsure if that is your problem. Have you tried running 2 sticks of ddr5?
@BrixtonUK as a precaution, you can unplug it. That way, you know there is no power going through it. On my own stuff, I don't usually fully remove it . I just make sure the laptop is really turned off before changing the ram. Sometimes, even when you think its turned off, it may turn on while you are working on it so, if it's your first time working on a laptop, use precaution.
