    A unit of brimstone gyrocopters gives you some proper micro to do on the approach. They can be a bit squishy and are extremely vulnerable to any fast melee fliers, fast AP mounted archers like the goblin wolf rider regiment of renown, and FUCKING SKAVEN WEAPONS TEAMS, but they do really exceptional damage to characters, especially large/mounted ones, absolutely *violate* artillery pieces, and can invalidate multiple units of cavalry every battle. Furthermore, they can spot dangerous stalking units like Nasty Skulkers by flying overhead, ensuring your ranged and arty delete them before contact. This is far less applicable with regular gyros, whose lower single target damage isn't anti-large, and suffers from accuracy problems. Skaven AI are the only faction you will spend a lot of time fighting that can invalidate gyrocopters entirely. Even flying heroes or monsters like Vargheists, pegasus paladins etc aren't quite as dangerous as the might seem, as long as you are very careful with micro. Enemy gunpowder is also very dangerous, but fairly rare to come across. Brimstones do a *lot* of damage to them, and you can ranged kite them way away from the rest of the army to be dealt with piecemeal, shredding the most dangerous big boys the enemy army has.

    0:57 Yes. Because of that I put 2 Gyrobomber I’m my armies just to have stuff to micro in battle. They’re pretty good as a harass unit as well since they can snipe single entity out while your other units run to the corner. They can also delay missile unit from reaching your frontline or redirect them from your main army. Once the melee happen their bombs can also do a lot of damage to blob. And lastly, they can run priority unit down once you win.

    Usually go with regular iron drakes with flamethrowers as it gives you something to do while corner camping. Set them behind the iron breakers and have them shoot through a gap in the line or on the outside flanks if there is cavalry, then work their way around the sides and roast the entire front line. Effective way to add a lot of infantry killing power on the flanks and still are pretty effective against large monsters.

  • @rubz1390

    I think this army has too many ironbreakers. Personally I would drop 2 ironbreakers for 2 thanes or 1 thane 1 engineer (more tanking for the killzone, more ammo replenishment). Then set up the 4 ironbreakers on the sides with 4 thunderers in chevron formation. I’d drop the 5th thunderer for a 5th organ gun to really destroy that killzone, but that’s not totally necessary.

    • @axelmuller7946
      @axelmuller7946 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I would say 4-5 Ironbreakers are enough. Normally I have 1 Thain, 1 Runesmith and 2 Engineers in my armies. My plan is to compensate the loss of 1 Ironbreaker with 1 Engineer. So this way the engineer gives the range units 15% more damage which should be enough to compensate for 1 less Ironbreaker. Also, they are solid tanks so if needed, they can hold the line for some time. In the end, the equipment for the heroes and lords in my opinion is the most important one, that's why normally my Main Army can take on at least 2 armies. (As long as they aren't Skaven)

    has CA ever said anything about how artillery, especially organ guns and cannons love to only target the very ends of unit formations? like instea dof shooting the middle of the unit they will hit like 2 guys on the far-left side. its so stupid looking and makes no sense and makes them do less damage. its insane they havent fixed that yet.

      Organ guns don’t seem to be a direct upgrade to cannons, but they do seriously buff the close to medium range killing power. Their range is shorter and I’ve heard they’re easier to obstruct, but you can’t really beat 4 shots per volley. Even one unit of them can seriously increase your killing power.

      You and I follow the same battle philosophy my friend. That being “god fights on the side with the best artillery”.
      If a game gives me a lot of good artillery and maybe some good fortification options, you can be god damned sure that I’ll turn my section of the battlefield into an absolute death trap made of iron, concrete and gunpowder.

    Though generally speaking your correct that is the common modus operandi of a dwarfen army, there are some other options avaliable. Such as , I had to fight clan eshin yesterday so I built a slayer/ gyro army. the skaven didnt know what to do I surrounded their army with slayers whilst whirring around their weapons team they sat in the middle of the map facing every direction was an easy win. total opposite of corner camping 😁 the skaven weapons team didnt know where to face or who to shoot i crushed them.

      @AllPresidentsAreBastards i‘d say it’s more like the game overvalues armor and therefore sends a lot of ai Armies against high armor aswell as Army loss is harder when those units die anyway.

      @AllPresidentsAreBastards most late game missile units have almost entirely AP damage. They might have something like 20-25% non-AP. Blocking 20-25% from high DPS missile units like shades is great and all, but it isn’t actually that useful. Gold shields block 70%. Bronze shields, which for some ridiculous reason iron breakers have, only block 30%. Having a good shield is much more important than having good armor. It’s not “parroting what legend says” lmao, it’s just looking at the numbers.

    • @mrp7874
      @mrp7874 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @AllPresidentsAreBastards welcome to the echo chamber. I agree, armour isn't as useless as people like to claim. Say there's a unit with 15 ap damage but 20 standard, lot of people ignore that 20 standard damage. 15 whole damage not blocked by armour??? Armour useless!!!
      A 20 armour wizard with 40 defence dies a hell of a lot quicker that a hero/lord with 120 armour and 40 defence.

    • @grudgebearer1404
      @grudgebearer1404 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Charlys787 the guy already explained that's why he uses checkerboard formation, but I would add that if you use terrain properly and target at the right distance they don't do friendly fire at all.
      Like, just don't let them try to shoot directly at the enemy infantry engaging yours, target the units that are far from your formation and they will arc their shots pretty well.

    • @Charlys787
      @Charlys787 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Classic Checkerboard has no gabs, its a shifted line, so there are units in front. Even with some space between, when the enemy approaches the firing arc gets so flat you risk your units.

    • @Loj84
      @Loj84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Personally, I put them more towards the center; as close as possible to the killzone without obstructing the organ guns. Since their shots arc, they can be close behind iron breakers without being obstructed themselves. Most of the time, the enemy will have monsters or mounted lords/heroes that will gun it for your lords and heroes in the killzone. Had the trollhammers been set up near the killzone, they could have demolished those mounted lords much faster than the organ guns did.
