The rubber goes onto the windscreen while its on a bench. Put some nylon cord around the groove in the rubber, again while it's still on the bench. Place the windscreen in the windscreen appature. Apply pressure to the screen (2 man job) from the outside while 2nd man pulls the cord from the inside. This pulls the rubber over the flange. Explains why the windscreen fitter did it in 15 mins

Love the old Chevy trucks. Even when they have the wrong fenders.

My youth of fire wood hauling in 1978. I was 17 years old. Had a 1971 Chevy with three on the tree. Those linkages once worn would drop into 2 gears at once when shifting from 3rd to 1st gears. Had to shut her off, open the hood and pry the linkage back in neutral. A few incidences and we found a used 3 on the floor. Cut a hole in the floor board. Poor people do what they can.

I was born in '71, so those 70s Chevy's remind me so much of my childhood. They're still my favorite trucks. I normally don't like to see older cars left with a patina, but it makes so much sense in this case. A true farm truck! As always, great content Jimmy! Hope to get to NY someday for a visit.

Sure. But a nice paint job means pulling the bed and front clip to do complete rust removal/repair. If you're that far in, pull the cab and do the frame. Why not rebuild the engine and transmission while at it.
That's usually when it gets parked back in the weeds and rots while waiting for "when there's time".
I'd much rather have a classic American truck back on the road in less than perfect condition.

The best advise I could give for a square body Chevy is keep the hood hinges lubed and never close the hood from the edge. Close the hood standing center. That big heavy hood would fold right in half if neglected.

Loved the video! My first ride was a ‘75 Chevy p/u. I replaced the dash as well! Lots of memories working on that truck. Engine bay so large I could sit on the wheel well and wrench on it. Be careful of the throttle cable. Mine frayed inside the housing causing the accelerator to stick. Had to reach down with my hand to pull it up doing about 60 mph. It’s an easy part to replace.

I'm glad you love the old, weathered, not damaged but doesn't have to be perfect look you have in that truck. Patina is nice, starting immediately is nice, no mice nests is nice. I hope one day I have the space to work on and store a truck similar to this one with the wheel wells on the outside, not in the bed, for some reason I like that look. Maybe I'll know what to do when the time comes after years of youtube videos.

I wanted to help so much with the windshield. The highlighted comment was definitely the way to do it. Rubber goes on with a sash cord pull rope. Outside pressure while the cord is pulled from the inside. But you got it done! And we put the lace rubber in from the middle of the bottom so there wouldn’t be a chance of rain getting in at the top.
