@@dronexfun8469 Im sure it takes more than that lol.... you can start outboards outside the water without causing damage. Just redlining the thing. Plus I like the fire up the motor first and then turn on water to prevent the water cooling loop from pump water into the engine through exhaust cooling port. Same rule applies to jet skis, engine on first, then seconds later turn on water hose. When turning it off, again, water turns off first, then engine.
@@oneeyedrone4293 dude no with that logic you’re saying everytime you’re on the water lift the engine start it then let it down he’s definitely right bout the impeller melting in a couple of revolutions I’ve seen it first hand
@@danquaid7103 you totally missed my point, my example was to show that the pump won’t fail without water since you can run them off the hose when flushing the system etc. Obviously you don’t have to lift the motor out since the lake doesn’t pressurize water into the impeller and the motor head lol. How would you deduce I suggested that any water around the motor goes into the heads ? I simply said on land you fire up motor first, then turn on water hose, so for those few seconds the motor is running without water hose on and impellers don’t melt.
