Het Juji, ik you’ve probably gotten this a a lot but thank you for pushing thru the hard times to make entertaining content, it really means a lot to me in what was one of my darkest past years
I remember watching a video not to long ago of juji "not sure when it was posted though" that said how much sam absolutely hated filming, so the fact that she is doing this is awesome to give us all the content we missed for the last 2 months. Appreciate ya sam.
I bet he was nervous about the Tom drama, got his head right, got that taken care of, and was steady filming the whole time he was off. I love Juji. I watched years ago and had stopped for a couple years. Glad I'm back
Dealing with a potential break up with the love of my live and watching Juji and Sam really helps and gives me hope. Love this channel and where it's going.
I can do back flips its not that hard i know quite some guys who also can do them some of them are gymnasts and can do them beautifuly Whats crazy about jujis backflip is how he can jumpf extremly high and basically do a really slow or «bad» backflip but still land really high
My Layout would be like this: - Chest machines on one side - Back machines on one side - Leg machines on one side - Then i would put the cable Crossover where ever the largest mirrors are - And put the Monolift/Powerlifting stuff on his own area.
With multi-use machines closer to the middle and isolation machines closer to the walls. And most importantly, dedicated down-lights and an empty area in front of the mirrors for posing practice.
Hey Juji, I'm in England (still heavily locked down) but honestly your videos have given me so much good motivation to really put effort in again. Currently doing a crap ton of cardio and starting to finally get my crap together and get back into shape. Love your stuff mate, wishing you and yours so much luck for the future.
@Deus Vult. Never liked Tom. He always annoyed me. Like he was constantly trying too hard. Just weird to be weird. And how we all know he took things for granted. Had an amazing gift sat right in front of him and he destroyed it.
Wow. Slick editing, especially in the first half of the video. Really nicely done! Layout: -Free weights roughly in the middle, including standard rack, mono and platforms -Pressing/upper body pushing machines in one section at the side/end -Back/pulling in one section at the same side/end as above -Legs machines together at the other side/end- maybe the stairs side -Construct a posing cabinet under the “cardio deck”
Lighting guy here: I would look at the behind the scenes videos for sets of action movies to give you some starting points for lighting. Movies like Gladiator and 300 rely heavily on big overhead soft lighting. I would suggest putting the biggest soft box you can manage 3-5 feet over your head where you pose in the mirror, turn off all the other lights and close the doors, let the background go dark. You could DIY it by stretching a big sheet of white reflective fabric over a frame, 6x6 or 12x12, hang it up and shoot lights up into so it bounces back down in a soft way.
300 and Gladiator rely heavily on big overhead lighting for creating an authentic outdoor environment, so an entire scene is lit evenly. While this would be wonderful for filming general filming in the gym space, it's the exact opposite of what you would want to chisel a physique. One big issue with the suggestion of a massive softbox 3-5 feet overhead is the light fall off. a light 3 feet from a face means the light is also 8 feet from the lower legs. Thats almost 3 stops of brightness difference between the face and the lower legs. Not to mention all the shadow transitions would be soft and low contrast. What he needs is low fall off (distant light) to evenly light the body, with hard light (small / distant light) to create crisp shadow transitions, that has narrow coverage (gridded / snoot / fresnel) so as to avoid lighting any surfaces around him (especially the background as you mentioned) and keep fill light to a minimum.
@@robhallphoto I'm lookin out for Juji and thinking of a solution that could be easy to use and semi-permanent if hung from the ceiling, lights controlled by remote, minimal setup and can be sweetened with other hard lights. Less stands to deal with, once set up is mostly plug and play. The overhead light could be rigged to the ceiling with pullies to adjust to the need of the scene. Yes, your point about falloff is valid, but with a big enough soft source far enough away, you get enough fill to reach down the whole body pretty equally. You can fill in the rest with bounce cards. It might look a little soft in person, but you can always boost the contrast in post. For video you need to light a whole space to allow for movement, a snooted down spot wouldn't works so well for video because it has such as small area of focus. But yeah, a gridded soft box to wheel around the new gym would be probably the first thing I'd get if I were Juji and wanted to build up my lighting game.
That was a dope day with tons of machine testing, curls, jokes and chill vibezzzz Brian stepped it up with the editing in this vid! I'm seeing new little additions here and there ;)
Dear Juji and Sam, I don't comment often but when I do it on your videos.. I have been loving the content for the last week or two since Tom and you have separated, keep up the great work!!!! true inspiration
I am really happy to see that Juji has found his own voice and that he has managed to accomplish a big change in a very short time! By the way, I love the little Sam moment in the Videos It adds a warm atmosphere!
That “Groundbreaker” program is insane, love it! Decided to add some back down sets after heavy trapbar deadlifts and had a great session. Def recommend the program
To be honest I just want to know more about Sam's mom, she drives forklifts and seems to be involved with all the building is she some kind of handy women?
I don’t know why it’s so fun to watch your gym life, but it is! As for gym layout, I’m a circuit nerd and would put everything in a “circuit” layout so I could just step right and do another muscle group. Even calves!!!
I’ve been selling lighting for the last 20 years. What you’re looking for is high-bay LED lighting. They come in various Kelvin ratings and lumens but it would accommodate what you need in the space. My recommendation is 4000 Kelvin as 5000 gets a little bit to harsh for me but 5000 would be great as well
Lighting pro here (in a commercial photographer, uses lighting to enhance / manipulate appearance sense). Here's what you're looking for: Maximize the distance between light and subject : the further the light is away, the more the relative size decreases. As the relative size of a light source decreases it creates "harder" shadows. This means the shadows it creates are more chiseled and rapidly transition from light to dark. The sun (which I know you love) is the best example of this. It's technically a large light source, but because it's so far away, it's relative size (to us) is tiny. *To apply this in your gym, mount your light as high as possible, while respecting my notes on position below* Minimize the size of the light source : Between a smaller light source and a larger light source at the same distance, the smaller light source will produce harder shadows. *To apply this in your gym choose a small, single source lighting fixture instead of a large panel type fixture.* Reduce fill lighting : In lighting there is a "key" light that is the primary light source illuminating the subject. Additional light sources that lighten the shadows created by the key light are called fill lights. Fill lights are the enemy when trying to maximize the contrast of your muscles. It's very difficult to have amazing bodybuilding light everywhere, because the more light you add you're just going to be creating way more fill light, reducing the effectiveness of each individual source. The only way you could get great lighting all throughout your gym is by choosing fixtures that restrict the beam angle of each lighting fixture to not cross with other fixtures, although this would be a NIGHTMARE to film in, because your exposure would rapidly change as you move throughout the gym. Contrast : This is where I've seen you mess up otherwise great lighting in the past. You get great lighting on you (sunshine) but you don't have anything dark BEHIND you, to allow the contrast of your physique to "pop". This is a mix of mistakes, a) bad scene composition b) bad camera settings / automatic camera settings that don't know what you want. *To apply this to your gym, make a physique / posing area with only two light sources (more on this below), and have that be about 10 feet + away from a dark wall that you film towards.* This is preferably away from any other light sources that could fill it in. Reduce "spill" of posing lighting : You want the lighting to be a focused beam of light, think stage lighting. This ensures it does not bounce off other surfaces in the room, filling in the shadows and reducing contrast Position : Light 1 : High, overhead, but not directly overhead. If you go directly overhead the shadows will stretch to long, your eyeballs won't be visible, your teeth won't be visible because your nose shadow will cover them. To estimate the position, I would suggest standing normally, however your chin is positioned when you pose. Next, look up with just your eyes. The highest point you can see without raising your chin, that's where you want your light. The logic behind this is if your eye can see a spot, a light in said spot would hit your eye. This will create hard shadows all across your body, without making you look like a raccoon. Light 2 : From the same standing position as explained in light 1, you want a light up high, slightly behind you, pointed at your back. This will create "rim lighting" carving out your frame from the dark background. This is important as when you have a high light hitting your front, obstructed areas like your lats won't be hit by any light and will just fade into a dark background. This rim light ensures the entire outer edge of your frame is carved out with light and visible to the camera. This is the best I can do without having the dimensions of your space. With the dimensions, I could tell you lumens, and what beam angle you would want from fixtures as well as the spacing of lights. Or suggest you specific lighting gear for a posing "zone". my contact is in my about section on my channel if you have any follow up questions. Mufu dad responded to an email I sent previously as well letting you know I'd be happy to help with any technical questions regarding photo / video / lighting. Edited to add : I've seen other comments regarding "big soft overhead lighting" like used on movie sets. Don't do this. That creates soft, even light over a large space, which is awesome for movies because they capture image data very evenly, which grants the flexibility to modify it later. It's the same concept as shooting outside on a cloudy/ overcast day, everything is "Even". But, there's a reason you've never been outside on a cloudy day and said "this is great light" and started flexing. Because its soft and even light which lacks the contrast necessary to carve out a physique. You want HARD light as described above to chisel a physique. Show me any physique competition with a large soft overhead light panel lighting the stage. It doesn't exist, and for good reason.
The gym equipment looks fantastic (!) thank you Juji for the constant and consistent motivation you provide, inspiring even for the half-built newbs like me :)
You always hear that if you start bodybuilding it's gonna be the gymbros who appreciate your look the most, not the girls you try to date. Sam is like that one in a million girl who can rival the gymbros in that appreciation. She's kinda damn rad tbh

Me: Man, this gym is awesome but I'm worried his videos are going to lose that goofy horse-mask doing weird shit vibe... Juji: Does preacher curls on a moving palette jack while Travis waves and Sam yells "choo choo!"
Sam actually is the perfect camera girl. Love her talking and interacting with everyone. Even with getting too close and making someone uncomfortable. Love it
I'd set it up in three major sections. Upper body machines, lower body machines, free weights/benches/racks. Within the machine sections, keep machines that target similar muscle groups generally co-located.
Leg machines and squat rack closest to the door so you dont have to crawl too far to leave after a heavy session. Fun stuff like biceps, free weights and cables furthest from the door, and then all the stuff you neglect/ dont use/ dont like to use on the way to the fun stuff, so that you have to be reminded its there every workout...
I approve of the cat superhighway idea! Gym cat was looking pretty adorable, seeing her running around in the background on cat platforms would 100% be great.

Minimize the size of the light source : Between a smaller light source and a larger light source at the same distance, the smaller light source will produce harder shadows. *To apply this in your gym choose a small, single source lighting fixture instead of a large panel type fixture.*
Reduce fill lighting : In lighting there is a "key" light that is the primary light source illuminating the subject. Reduce "spill" of posing lighting : You want the lighting to be a focused beam of light, think stage lighting. This ensures it does not bounce off other surfaces in the room, filling in the shadows and reducing contrast
Position :
Light 1 : High, overhead, but not directly overhead. If you go directly overhead the shadows will stretch to long, your eyeballs won't be visible, your teeth won't be visible because your nose shadow will cover them. This rim light ensures the entire outer edge of your frame is carved out with light and visible to the camera.

Me: Man, this gym is awesome but I'm worried his videos are going to lose that goofy horse-mask doing weird shit vibe...
Juji: Does preacher curls on a moving palette jack while Travis waves and Sam yells "choo choo!"
Juji, gotta say, I'm loving your new videos! The entire crew's energy is just amazing. Please keep going!!
Sam actually is the perfect camera girl. Love her talking and interacting with everyone. Even with getting too close and making someone uncomfortable. Love it
Been looking forward to this video all week
Good lord that front squat
I'd set it up in three major sections. Upper body machines, lower body machines, free weights/benches/racks.
Within the machine sections, keep machines that target similar muscle groups generally co-located.
That’s strange, I don’t see my editing room in this layout 😂
You're going under the stairs 😂
r u jacksepticeye?
Your editing room is in the basement , next to Ahhhh bottles :p
You're behind the inverted leg press machine... so you get all the good views. Hehehe
Can’t wait for this glorious gym to take shape!
