    TIP for the light... if you leave an extra nut on the screw and then cut the screw to size, you can back the nut off and it will remove the burrs and keep the thread where it needs to be.

    When cutting threaded rod I always thread the nuts on passed where I’m cutting. Then you can take them off and you don’t need to clean up the burs.

    Before i Cut a screw or bolt down i thread a nut on past the point of the cut, then after i cut i remove the nut and the nut natrually folds the burr down and then you dont need to worry about it.

  • @CountBeefy
    @CountBeefy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Leave the nut screwed in when you cut a stud. It cleans the threads when you back it out.

    i would recommend leveling out the area around/under the rack if you plan to do squats/deadlifts/olympic-lifts, a slight side-slope can cause issues when you move close to your max load

  • @JP-kr6lm
    @JP-kr6lm ปีที่แล้ว +3

    High quality linesman pliers or wire cutters will have a cutter for trimming long electrical screws. I use knipex 13 72 8 wire stripper, no need to bring out the grinder. Great transformation! Mind if I ask how much the professional floor coating cost? I would also like to do that

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good tip on the pliers! I always forget about that function. And thank you! The epoxy floor cost about $3k give or take. I think it’s well worth it and I would steer clear of the diy kits as they tend not to have the same durability

  • @lesg9604

    I have the same branded set, different components in the kit. They are really nice addition to the garage. I bought them pre Covid, and back then the price was a steal on a sale through Hone Depot. Recently I wanted to add another single piece to my garage and couldn’t believe that the price nearly doubled from what I paid two years ago.

    Careful. I broke my garage floor… even though I had gym flooring (thick rubber mats) and bumper plates. And my bumper plates were the really thick ones, I think that’s the rogue competition set which is thinner (less surface area means more damage it can do). It first started cracking then where I would always deadlift it dug a hole. I never noticed because it was covered by the mats. I didn’t notice until I walked over it and it felt dug out. In hindsight, I would use rubber mats and a layer of thick plywood (1 3/4) on top of the mat.

    I was driving myself crazy because I couldn't find anyone who hung the cabinets how I imagined.
    So, I just received my husky cabinet set (same as yours, regular duty welded) and I really wanted to hang them off the floor because I have the same protruding stem wall. How are they holding up, do you store anything heavy in them? Did you hit two studs in each cabinet on top or only one? Did you also secure on the bottom or just resting on the cement? Hoping to install mine this week, thank you!

    • @I3day
      @I3day ปีที่แล้ว

      ?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are holding up great! All the cabinets are full but I don't put anything extremely heaving in them. I made sure to hit 2 studs per cabinet. 1 stud would probably worry me a bit. There are no holes to screw them in at the bottom so they are just resting on the concrete, but it hasn't been an issue. Worst case scenario, you can add feet to front. hope that helps!

    Superb renovation! What sheen of paint (I tried to make out the cans, is it Benjamin Moore?) did you use on the walls? Do you still recommend that Graco Magnum X5 sprayer in terms of its ease of use and clean up? Did you spray the ceiling and the wall and if so, in what order and how to prevent overspray? Finally, if you had to do it all over again would you still paint the walls first before having the floor epoxied or do it the reverse order? I am greatly curious to know if the epoxying job makes a dusty mess all over the nice fresh walls. About to embark on a very similar journey in my garage, thanks!!

    Friendly advise, be reluctant in the future to display your address number. I'm sure there are internet surfers that don't need it to find your exact coordinates, but don't make it easy for all the other knuckleheads out there. Nice gym by the way!!!
