I snuck into the Hybrid Showdown 3 powerlifting meet. On a whim no less! We saw Dan Bell, John Haack, and Julius Maddox break some HUGE records. Oh and I lifted some pretty heavy weights myself HAHAHAHA!

Powerlifters are like that - friendliest athletes you'll ever meet.
Last minute decision to visit and do this. No prep, just took a week off and entered the meet! My goal this year was to set a "not-anxious" mindset PR during the event and I think I did it! Had a blast and felt more connected to those around me and remained grounded!

The WRPF rulebook stated that "THE MINDSET" was not prohibited. It's an unfair performance enhancer. Eric can't compete because he would test positive for that.

@@lexiehua1457: When preparing for one of his turns at the meet. He was speaking to his wife, kind of thinking out loud. I didn't document the exact time. You're more than welcome to review it and find the exact time if you wish. Ha ha.
Just to be clear and fair, technically "a handler" is a term supposedly used in powerlifting to refer to a coach or one helping you at the meet. This was pointed out by another commenter on this thread already.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing, but, read the comments to make sure I wasn't imagining it. He just seems nearly giddy...he was carrying a heavy load without even knowing it, I think.

I wanted to shit on Tom in this reply, but that's not what Juji would want.
I disagree, because the videos are much less scripted. and much more personal. I expected to hate the change but instead I love it.
Tom made massive contributions to the channel, but few of them were on the side of the camera he wanted to be on.

At least in the beginning Tom and juji were good friends. And Tom is the reason for the explosive growth of the channel that happened right when he took over the creative aspects.....hate Tom as a human all you want....you can’t knock his videographer/producer/creator/ whatever you wanna call it skills. He took jujis old almost Eric bugenhaugen ish content and turned it into some of the best content on TH-cam. I followed juji before Tom. I’ll follow him well after. But you can’t deny the impact he had. getting to, out of his life seems to be a massive weight off of Jon. But it is and will definitely be a loss for the videos. I’ve been saying I hope juji replaces him with someone else not on camera but behind the camera giving direction and ideas.

Lately this channel has a great energy, a vibe of earnest positivity that I'm really loving. I used to foolishly think of strength training as a 'meathead' form of exercise, and Juji's demeanor and attitude make for a fantastic counterpoint to that stereotype. In addition, Sam's work behind the camera brings out the nuance and authenticity that makes each video connect. Bravo!

I've discovered this channel when I really got into lifting while I was on deployment. Juji is probably the most sincere and genuine fitness youtuber I've watched, and my favorite by far.
when juji posts 4 times in a week! that's when you know all is right with the world :)
Hopefully it means he's enjoying being a fitness TH-camr again. It's great seeing him happy and enjoying what he loves

Absolutely loving the content man. The singlet changes on every lift had me cracking up.
Love Juji being more relaxed and confident at this powerlifting meet than the last one. He's progressed himself a lot over a years time.
"Surprise/last minute" events are the best way to calm the nerves. It's similar to when you start doing stand-up and one of the first things you really want to do is go out on stage and purposely bomb so that way you get all the nerves and bad stuff out the way and realize it's not so bad.

The IPF would legit disqualify you
Powerlifting is so obsessed with equipment and clothing rules for some reason. Meanwhile weightlifting has removed most of theirs over the years. Recently people were getting away with using two belts because the technical controllers have got so used to doing basically nothing lmao.
@@petrl9838 Not true, sorry my guy. Changing singlets is completely allowed as long as they all adhere to the IPF rules. Check out world champion Russel Orhii in 2019 IPF worlds. He changes his singlet for the deadlift event. You can see his reasoning for that on one of his videos.
