Hey Wayne. You make a good argument regarding not having to use a scandi. I own and appreciate convex grinds as well for their truly strong edges. Personally, I prefer a high sabre or even a full flat grind. Thanks for sharing

A high sabre is a great profile, almost as slicey as flat grind but a little tougher. Thanks Bud !

Hi Wayne, lovely custom blade. I also like convex grinds a lot. Actually my scandy grind custom knife already chipped a couple of times. Great idea using a thinner blade with a convex grind. Cheers 💪🏽🤜🏼🤛🏼

Ya I thought a thinner convex would retain a strong edge (more so than a flat grind) but increase the sliceyness of the blade. Cheers

@@highlandtrekker makes 100% sense. Love that idea! I think I will make my next knife the same way. I still have some steel approximately 1/8" thick. Thanks for the inspiration 👍🏼

A 2 Steel is the best for Shock , better than D 2 and i got this information from someone that knows what he is talking about , Derrick is awesome master craftsman and I wish you both all the best , may you always enjoy it in the best of health.

Well you are right :) I think this ; different grinds for different purposes so I have a few and take the one with me who is most suitable for the tasks I want to do with it. I also think that a scandi is not alway's the best choice for bushcraft (imho) offcourse . And I prever stainless over carbon because in the wet Netherlands I have to maintain a carbon knife constantly so that is why I think a knife is a very personal piece of gear depending on your geographic location, the tasks you want to do with it ,your personal thoughts etc. Your knife is beautyful :) Again big thumbs up for your effort nice to see why you have made your knife choice . It's what i'm use to and you're right a lot of people are turned off because they hear they're hard to sharpen but again it's all what you're use to. Thanks for taking the time to comment ! ( :
