Your favorite co-star is here! Today, I shared how I give Mace a bath at home! Mace is a 7 year old male shih tzu. I've had him since he was 8 weeks old. Although cuddling is his favorite, bath time comes in at a close second. I hope this video is helpful to all of my pet owners! Until next time...

Glad you clarified that about the dawn. Didn't want to hear anybody harp on you because you use dish soap. Back when I first rescued my baby cat, she was a possible 5 week old kitten, I was told to use Dawn over and over on her to kill all the fleas. And like you said Dawn because it is mild and safe to use. He is adorable keep up the good work and being a good mom

Thank you for sharing. I have had my shih tzu for about six months. She came to me at nine weeks old. I really do struggle to gibe her baths because like you said, she hates the water on her face and hates for her face to be touched. She's a lot better behaved and cooperative with the groomer but not with me.

Thanks for this vid! I have a 5 month old shih tzu and my vet also said it was fine to use dawn dish soap (especially for fleas) I’m debating to switch to that instead of the dog shampoo I use now!

Wow! What a good dog :) When I dry Mams shih-tzu with a towel she bites me. She hates being dried!
5-27-21 - Does the Dawn irritate his eyes? I know on the environmental rescue commercials they use to get the oil off the ducks, etc. I use Oatmeal shampoo due to pup's itchy areas. I have her blow dryer with brush as well as her two special towels. My shih tzu is 32 weeks.
Also what type of brush do you use on your Shih Tzu?
I recommend first wash the body, keep the head out until last moment, be very careful with eyes . Thumbs up for your Shihtzu ♥️👍🥰
I just got my 2 month Shi Tzu how many time should I was the puppy 🐶. Should I blow dry the puppy also can I use Any toothpaste to brush it’s teeth. I was thinking about human baby toothpaste. I also heard coconut 🥥 oils is good to brush the puppy 🐶 teeth too. After the shower can I use coconut 🥥 oil also.
My Bella loves her baths also . Your puppy is so cute I have fallen in love with the shih tzu breeds . I have Bella and her brother bailey but Bella is my babe so I won’t be breeding her but I’m thinking about buying another female to breed to bailey

How’d u get your pup calm or used to it was it just the frequent/needed baths over time?
Hes pretty calm in general! I comforted him during bath time in the beginning..i think that helped!
I talk to my hyper 7 month old puppie while I bath her & it seems to relax her😌 but she hates getting water on her face😄
Check on that blue dye in The Dawn for dishes. Safe? No.

You don't blow dry him? I heard its bad if you leave their face wet. I just got a shih tzu puppy yesterday so please know I'm not familiar with care for shihs yet I'm still learning so I'd like to know too :)
Dry him with a towel and then with a hair dryer very gently

Be careful not to get soap and water in the ears! That irritates the hell out of dogs. Haha

It may be ok to use something as harsh as Dawn detergent on a dog with fleas, but to use it every month will strip your dog of his natural oils. Also, washing him in the sink with a spray is perfect! But dogs don’t like to get their faces so wet. The face should be done with a washcloth. If you are going to get his face wet, plug up his ears with cotton, they can get nasty fungal infections if water gets in their ears. And be careful not to get water up his nose.

I think you wash too much. Can he be that dirty? And doesn't Dawn burn his eyes?
His bath routine and frequency is just fine. It was actually recommended by his vet. No, Dawn doesnt burn dogs eyes.
You don't put soap in their face or head! Not even water! Poor dog you treat him really really mean 👎👎👎👎👎😡

You must not know about shihtzus they get tear stains and very stinky eyes you need to clean them every day what she’s doing is perfectly fine!
Not even water? Really? I can’t imagine how badly groomed your poor dog’s face must be. It’s water. Your dog’s not going to melt.
